For my birthday, the one dessert I want to
enjoy the most is:________
Since my birthday is around Thanksgiving my Grandma makes me a pumpkin roll for my birthday.  I also love ice cream cakes I just don't get them very often anymore.  For my first birthday she made me a pumpkin pie and put a candle in it.  I don't know that I really have a favorite birthday dessert though.

1. Would you ever vacation alone?
Probably not.  I think it would be more fun if I had someone along with me.
2. Do you go the speed limit?
At times I do and other times I don't.  I have a lead foot so most of the time I don't realize how fast I am really going.
3. Why did you start blogging/following blogs?
I started my blog because I want to share my story about the MS and it is a good way to meet people.  I follow blogs because I love to read about other peoples stories and what not.
4. Where do you shop for yourself?
Every where.  It really depends on what I am looking for and what not.  I love to shop so I can pretty much find stuff anywhere.
5. What was the song that you danced your first dance with your spouse to at your wedding...or...what song would you like your first dance to be to?

1. How good are you at delaying gratification?
No I love to get the gratification right now!!!!
2. Maybe a marshmallow wouldn't be too difficult a temptation for you. What food (or anything else) would be most tempting?
Anything that has bread with it.  I love bread and can't eat it so that would have to be my biggest temptation.
3. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being saintly) how patient are you?
-12 lol I am the least patient person I know.
4. Have you ever waited for something in life only to be disappointed upon realization of the goal/object/etc.?

5. Are you a person who takes shortcuts?
I sure am because I hate waiting around and what not.  I get bored easily so waiting and me don't really work.

I hate any lines.  If you can't tell I am not that patient at all so waiting and me don't very good together.
7. Did you wait to discover the gender of your unborn child until its birth?
Since I was placing her for adoption I found out early.  Didn't wanna keep the adoptive parents waiting and what not.
8. Are you more patient with children or the elderly?
Elderly- I think this is because I worked in a nursing home for awhile and helped take care of my Great Grandma while she was dying.
9. Did you ever sneak a peek at a present?
No I haven't but I am so hard to shop for that I always know what I am getting before hand anyways.
10. What is the longest you've ever waited for anything?
Not sure but it couldn't have been very long because I don't like to wait for anything.
11. Who has more patience, you or your significant other?
Not sure neither of us or very patient but if I had to pick I would have to say him
12. Which of the following songs about waiting is your pick for the best? (OK, you may substitute another, if you like.)

A) Anticipation by Carly Simon
B) The Waiting by Tom Petty
C) Right Here Waiting for You by Richard Marx

Pregnancy Pact Part 2

I decided that adoption was best for me because I wasn't ready to raise a child and I wanted to give her two parents and a stable place to live.  Her sperm donor also wanted nothing to do with her.  I think he still believes that she isn't his and that I get pregnant all by self.  Men really bug me in the fact that they can just act like they can just ignore people they get pregnant and that the problem will just go away.  I really wish it was that easy because if it were I would have not been pregnant for very long that is for sure.

I knew from the moment that I found out she wasn't meant for me and that I had to find her family.  I really hated god for a long time because I didn't think I could do it.  I didn't know realize how painful the actual day of her placement was going to be on me.  I decided to do what they called a direct placement which is where you and the couple are in the same room and you place the baby into the couples arms and basically walk away.  Well lets just say I did that and then made them leave the room because I couldn't stand to look at her with them.  That was the day that my heart really broke for the first time.  To be honest with you I don't really remember the next few weeks.  I feel like I was just walking around in a daze just existing.  I was back to work in 3 weeks because sitting at home was killing me.  It was really hard for the first year but after that year was over it started to get easier.  Everyday is a struggle but easier than the first year was that is for sure.

Her birth father had to sign away his rights because he was in the Air Force and because of stupid laws I couldn't place her without him signing.  Lets just say that that was the most stressful part of the whole thing.  I had no idea if he would sign or if he would just not show up and make it so I couldn't place her for adoption.  In the end he signed because I told him if he didn't I would make him pay child support and that would mean less money for his car. So he basically signed her away because he loved her car more than he loved his own child.  I don't get how parents can just walk away and not care or even think about their kids.

I have one thing in the whole situation that has bugged me and still to this day bugs me.  Why do people think when I tell them that they have to say sorry?  I know this is kind of off subject but why do people say that when I am not sorry for it.  I did what I had to do and I will never be sorry that I placed her.  Now that doesn't mean that I won't miss her but I will never be sorry for doing it.  Ok I will get off my soap box now.  Sorry I got side tracked.

I am amazed that people really think I am a strong person because I only did what was right for her.  If I wanted to take the easy way I would have kept like so many people do because they don't think they can place their babies.  I want people to know that anyone can do it.  It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done but at the same time it was the greatest thing I have ever done.  Today as I sit here writing this post I realize just how much at times it hurts.  I have really had a lot of doubts lately if I made the right the choice and if she will hate me when she gets older.

After making this choice in my life I now don't think that I want any kids at all.   I wasn't the mothering type then and I don't know if I have become that or not.  I know I could probably do it but why force myself to do something that I don't think I am programed to do.   I am quite happy raising my animals and no kids.  Maybe one day but not for a long time if at all.  I just wish my husband would get that and drop the whole subject but that is a post for another day.

This post is all over but that is how my brain works.  Hope it makes some sense to everyone.  If you have any questions about adoption or about my story please leave a comment and I will get back to you!

Pregnancy Pact

I watched the Lifetime movie called "Pregnancy Pact" last night and it really got me thinking about teen pregnancy and about my story of getting pregnant and placing the baby for adoption.  I decided that I will give you that story today since it is on my mind and I am having trouble writing my post on the MS.  Don't worry I am still working on it.  It is just going to take a little longer than what I thought it was going to.

Anyway here is my story.

I was 19 and going to school up at Weber State University.  I was a sophomore and going to school for nursing.  I was living in the apartment style dorms and lets just say the year started out bad.  I should have just moved off campus like Carrie my roommate from my freshman year.  The first apartment I was in that year was with freshman and lets just say it was hard because they wanted to party and I had a really tough class that I needed to study for so after things got really bad I asked to move.  In the mean time I had started to see a guy and lets just say that I didn't wait long before I slept with him for the first time.

I moved into a new apartment with two girls that turned out to be drug addicts and one of them ended up over dosing the day before Thanksgiving but I am getting ahead of myself. After I moved in that apartment I got pregnant.  I found out because I was so sick that I went to the hospital to see what was wrong with me.  They ran a pregnancy test and told me I was pregnant.  I already knew I was at that point but I just didn't want to admit to it. In fact I knew the night it happened that I was.

The rest of that semester is still fuzzy to me.  I can remember telling my grandma the night I got out of the hospital on the phone and she basically told me that I should place the baby.  The funny thing about that is that I already knew I was going to do that I just didn't want to admit it to anyone else for a long time.  I started going to LDS Family Services because it was free and they had a support group for girls that were pregnant and not married.

After the semester ended I moved home because I couldn't deal with the stress of school and my roommate over dosing anymore.  While I was at home I was working two jobs and taking an online class.  In January I started looking for profiles of couples that were looking to adopt.  The first time I looked I picked out two couples and brought them home to see what my family thought.  This is where the story get weird to say the least.  Come to find out my grandma had talk to my social worker and asked her to pull a certain profile so that I could look at them.  One of the profiles that I brought home was the family that she picked out.  I didn't know that until she told me after I delivered and everything was done.

In the mean time they did a blood test at the doctors office and they told me that the baby could possible have either down syndrome or what they call Trisomy 18.  Because of that blood test I had to go up to the University of Utah and have a longer ultra sound to rule out both of those.  After we got done with that the chances of it went done some and I decided that anymore testing could just wait until she was born.

After I picked them I made up a really cute basket of stuff for them and sent it to announce to them that I had picked them.  Well come to find out they had a gotten a baby in March and the agency didn't know if they could place my daughter with them as well.  I told my social worker that I still really felt that is where she was supposed to go and that  she needed to try everything that she could to make it work.  After a few weeks of going back and forth and asking the other birth mom if it was ok with her they finally decided that she could be placed with them.

This was such a relief for me.  After we got that decision we started the process of meeting with them and getting to know them.  While this was all going on I was getting huge and super tired of being pregnant.  I was due July 7th and it was hot and tiring be pregnant during the summer.  I went in to the doctors a week before I was due and he said that if I didn't go into labor on my own before my due date he would induce me on my due date.

Well the morning I was supposed to be induced my water broke and lets just say I knew she would come on her own time and she waited until the last possible second to do it on her own.  I was in labor for about 12 hours or so.  When it was time to have her I had the adoptive mom in the room so that she could see her being born.  They ended up having to use the vacumn thing to get her out because she was stuck on my tail bone and I was too tired to keep pushing.

Two days after I had her I signed the papers and said my goodbyes to the baby that I named Gracelynn but they latter changed to Brita.  There isn't a day that goes by that she doesn't pop into my head and I just wonder is she happy??  Did I do the right thing????  Will she hate me one day because of the choice I made to place her for adoption????  I hope one day I will get to meet her and get to know her but I also know that it is totally up to her and I will have to live with her decision.

This is a really long post so I will post part two of this story tomorrow and get into why I made the decision to place her and things like that.
Hope everyone is having a great Monday.  If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I will answer all of them!!!

It Is Finally Time For Letters And All The Other Fun MeMe's!

This is much needed this week that is for sure!  It has been a tough week for me and I really needed to write letters to relieve the stress of the week.

Letters of Intent

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Tysabri,
I guess you making over a billion dollars last year wasn't enough.  Now you have to go and make me pay the $5000 dollars a month for the only medication that was working.  I am still trying to figure out how and why I can't get it for free anymore.  I couldn't afford it before and I still can't afford it.  Does it make you happy to know that you can take a drug away from people that really need it?
Pissed off
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Squirrel,
Thank you for putting up with me even though I have been really down and confused lately!
Bunnie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sylvia,
You really need to start eating or you are going to have to go the vet and be checked out and I don't have the money for that right now.  So stop being stubborn and just eat!
Mom
Questions for 1/22/10: (Thanks to Casia, the Unkept Cook, Renee, Liz, and Kate for their question suggestions! Wanna be linked in a future 5QF? Head on over here to my community, and offer up your most fun, zany, quirky questions!
1.
What is better, growing old with out money or dying young and wealthy?
 Dying young with money is better for me that getting old.  I have never wanted to get really old. I am kind of weird about getting old and I don't want people to have to take care of me when I am older so I think dying young would be great!
2.
Who takes out the garbage at your house?
Everyone but my little brother.  He is really lazy at times and never takes it out unless he is told to take it out and even then at times we do it because it will get done faster if we just do it and don't wait on him.
3.
Have you ever had the same dream many times?
Not really.  In fact I rarely dream and if I do dream they are always scary and or weird to say the least.
4.
Can you play a musical instrument?
I used to play the violin but I stopped because my violin got broke and never sound right after that.  I don't think that I was any good anyways.
5. If you owned your own store, what would you sell?
Clothes, shoes and purses!  I would love to have my own store because then I could all the new cool stuff before everyone else did!
Today’s Fill in the Blank Friday question is:
The movie I could watch over and over again is ____________.
I can watch a lot of movies over and over again.  There really isn't just one that I could pick.  I am famous for watching the same movies for over a week before I change it in the DVD player.  I just love movies and love watching the stories unfold even though I know how they all end!
Monday MeMe-Reading Something Other Than Blogs!
with MommyBrain and SupahMommy
Total web-domination has really gone to Supah's head.  Following in the footsteps of some other famous lady, this week SupahMommy (with a lot of help from MommyBrain) is launching her very own Book Club!
We are assuming you, occasionally, have the time and motivation to read something other than each other's latest blog posts ;)  Tell us about yourself as a reader ... of books.
Imagine you're being interviewed by Oprah Supah ...
Ummm, yeah, we know you're excited.
But let's try to keep the crazy to a minimum, 'kay?
You know Oprah Supah asks the tough questions ...
What are you currently reading?
Right now I am reading Harry Potter (the last one) and I just bought a new book today that is called Please stop laughing at me... I am excited to start it.
When do you find the time to read?
I usually read during my infusions or on the weekends at night when I can't sleep.
Where do you do most of your reading?
In my bed room or the hospital
How do you choose what you read?
I will read anything that looks good to me
From where do you get most of your books?
I either buy them or borrow them from my aunt
What do you do with a book after you've finished reading it?
If it is mine I hold on to it or give it to someone who may like to read it
What are your book (reading) quirks
I don't really have any that I know of
Here is a picture that I took of miss Sylvia this weekend and I love it.  This is what I deal with on a daily basis. I never know what they are going to do from minute to minute.
I hope you all have a great Monday!
My First Monday Mayhem
This is from Harriets blog.  I decided that I would follow along this week and answer some more questions because they are my favorite MeMe's.  So here are the questions and my answers.  I think everyone should stop by her blog and try this out!
Join Us for Monday Mayhem
It's time to play Monday Mayhem, where no two Mondays are the same.
Today's meme is the scenario meme. For each prompt, simply write your best answer.
1. You see a strange car pull up to your neighbor's house every day at lunch time. You accidental glance into the window of the house and notice that your 'happily married neighbor' is fooling around! What do you do?
Nothing...How is what they are doing any of my business.  I am trying to mind my own business from now on.
2. You are at the mall and a mom with really annoying screaming little kids is walking in front of you. She goes to give her kids a quarter for the giant gum ball machine and she accidentally drops a $10 bill and doesn't realize it. What do you do?
I would tell her that she dropped it because I believe that karma will come back to me.
3. You get an email from a candy company telling you that they will send you 6 pounds of delicious chocolate if you blog about their product. When you get the product and try it you realize that it is the worst chocolate that you have ever tasted. What do you do?
I would tell the truth.  I believe that if you do a review you shouldn't lie about the product if it sucks tell people.
4. Texting while driving is one of the most dangerous and annoying things someone could do. Yet, what would you do if you were driving and listening to the radio when the announcer says that he will give $10,000 to the first person with your name that texts a message to him?
Send a text message and win the damn money!
5. You've been invited to your boss's house for a dinner party. It's dark out and there is poor lighting when you get there. As soon as you get inside you realize that you have stepped in dog poop and you have tracked into your boss's house. What do you do?
Clean off my shoe and clean up the mess I made because I would want someone to do that at my house.
6. You are at a restaurant waiting for your food to arrive. You've waited nearly 30 minutes since the moment you placed your order when your food finally shows up. There is a hair on the top of the food. Do you send it back and wait another 30 minutes or do you deal?
I would talk to the manager and then just get the check for what I did eat and leave.  I have a hard time waiting for that long to get my food.
7. If you had the power to do so, what would be the one question that you would like to ask anyone who reads this?
Do you enjoy reading my blog????
Saturday 9 & Six Word Saturday
Saturday 9: When We Was Fab
1. Is there a blog as far as its appearance goes that you think is the most fabulous?
I love most of the blogs I read.  I can't really say that I love anyone of them more than the others.  I am trying to figure out if I should get one designed just for me?
2. Do you like the look and the contents of your blogs?
Not really but I am not sure what to do about it right now.  Maybe a make over would help.
3. Have you ever thought what would happen to your blog in case you died?
Nope, it didn't cross my mind until now.  Guess I should give someone my info so they could let the world know what was going on with me.
4. Has any particular blogger had a great impact on how you set up and write your blog?
No but I wish I could write like so many of them do.
5. Would you want a fellow blogger to give you suggestions or criticism of what you write?
Yes I would.  I can only get better and try what they say.  Just because they give it doesn't mean I actually have to try any of it.
6. Is the number of visitors each day to your blog important to you?
Not really but it sure is nice to have almost 50 followers!
7. What percentage of your readers do you think actual comment?
Not very many but I always have the same people commenting and what not so they are the loyal readers and I know that some people read but don't comment so it is all good.
8. Do you have a favorite blogger who does the memes that you participate in?
Supah has a lot of good MeMe's.  There are a lot of good ones out there and they are fun to write.  It always gives me something to write about if I am drawing blanks for that day.
9. How often do you update your blog/site and why?
I try and do it once a day but some days I do it more and other days I don't post at all.  It really just depends on how busy I am and what not.
I am glad it is Saturday.
