My Easter

1. How do you feel about the marshmallow Easter Peeps?
They are disgusting.  I just can't bring myself to eat them.
2. Chickens are notoriously nervous creatures. When you are nervous, what is the best way to calm down?

I get nervous all the time and all I can do is try and talk myself down so that I don't have a panic attack.
3. People say, "April showers bring May flowers." Do you enjoy Spring rains?

If it is warm rain yes I enjoy it but if it isn't no I don't enjoy it at all.
4. When I was randomly flipping through TV channels this week, I saw a show in which tattoo parlor employees received tattoos of a co-worker's face on their bodies. I can't imagine having a portrait of a colleague tattooed on me. But if someone forced you to receive a portrait tattoo (face only) of anyone, who would it be? Why?

I would have to chose Misti because she is my friend and it would to crazy to have face on my body.  She has a pretty face as well.
5. Would you rather have a tattoo (any kind) or a nose ring?

Nose ring because I could take it out and a tattoo is permanent.  I change my mind to much to have something on that I can't change on my body.
6. Do you have any special plans for Easter?

Nope.  My Grandparents are going out of town so I will be home.  I may go to Misti's house for her families Easter party but I am not sure about that yet.
7. Cadbury Eggs or Reese Eggs?

Reese eggs but Cadbury Mini Eggs are to die for.  I have to pick Reese Eggs though because I won't eat the whole bag in one sitting.
8. What was the last thing/person you took a picture of?

Probably my nails to send to Misti or one of my girls
9. What book are you reading now, or what was the last one?

The Shack and the last one I read was about the Jews in concentration camps. (I can't remember the name of it)
10. What do you think is the most difficult task when it comes to Spring cleaning?

All of it.  I am not a dirty person but I do hate to clean.  I will do pretty much anything to get out of cleaning.
11. How many pairs of flip-flops do you own?

5 or 6 I believe.  I don't wear them though so I don't really know how many I have anymore.  I have started buying them because my girls like to destroy them.  So I buy them when they are super cheap and give them to them to keep the entertained for a few weeks.
12. Which color makes you happiest?

Probably purple.

Favorite Things...

What's your most favorite part of your home?

Is it a special readin nook?
Is it the broom closet you hide in ?

Is it your drawer pulls in the kitchen that took 34 years to re-do?

Is it your deck on a summer night?

Show us in a picture and tell us in words.

What's your most favorite part of your home.

What makes you smile.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the prompt that Supah & Mommybrain came up with for this week.  To be honest with you I don't know that I like any one space in  my house more than the other.  So I am going to write about the two things I adore that are in my house.
They are my girls Elinore and Sylvia!  When I refer to my kids these are them.  I couldn't live a day without them being around.  Animals give unconditional love and for that I will always love my two girls!
I adopted Miss Elinore from a shelter when she was about a year or so.  She had been declawed and really badly abused before I got her.  I have had her for like 4 years now and she is just barely coming out of her shell and becoming a great little kitty for the most part.
Sylvia I got when she was about 8 weeks old.  I had actually picked her out before her eyes even opened up!  She has the most fur I have ever seen on a cat and also very bitchy.  She hates to be held and hates to have her tail touched.  She is the kind of cat that can't be around little kids.
Those are my girls and I can't imagine a day with out them!

I hope everyone is having a great Monday!

My Greatest Weakness

 This weeks Prompt:
 Ask someone who loves you what one of your weaknesses is.

This week I asked Misti to answer this question for me here is her response:

WELL THIS IS REALLY KINDA HARD IN A WAY TO ANSWER AND THE REASON BEING IS CAUSE MARGARET I FEEL TO ME IS ONE OF THE STRONGEST PERSON I HAVE EVER MET IN MY LIFE. SO WHEN I THINK OF A WEAKNESS OF HERS IT IS HARD TO COME UP WITH, BUT IF I HAD TO SAY SHE HAD A WEAKNESS IT WOULD BE THAT SHE CAN NEVER, EVER SAY NO TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE SITUATION IS OR ABOUT. SHE NEVER SAYS NO TO ANYONE SO IN RETURN SHE IS ALWAYS OVERWHELMED AND DOING THINGS THAT SHE SHOULD NOT BE  DOING FOR SOMEBODY, MEANING IT IS ALWAYS MORE THAN SHE CAN HANDLE CAUSE SHE IS GOING THROUGH A LOT OF HER OWN THINGS IN LIFE. SHE TAKES ON WAY TO MUCH AND WILL DO IT REGARDLESS OF HOW SHE FEELS OR EXTREME MEASURES AND PAIN THAT SHE HAS TO GO THROUGH. SO IN THE END OF THIS ALL IT IS ONE OF HER WEAKNESSES IN LIFE IS NOT KNOWING HOW TO EVER SAY NO. IF U LOOK AT IT IN ANOTHER LIGHT IT CAN ALSO MEAN ONE OF HER GREATEST QUALITIES AND STRENGTHS AS WELL. MARGARET IS A VERY STRONG, INDEPENDENT WOMAN AND   IS NOT WEAK TO ME AT ALL, SO IF I HAD TO CHOSE THIS WOULD BE A VERY SMALL WEAKNESS OF HERS. I LOVE YA BUNNIE :0)

I want to first off thank Misti AKA Squirrel for writing this for me.  She is always willing to answer or write things for my blog when I ask her to.  Now to respond to what she said she is right.  I don't know how to say no and I always go above and beyond what I should do for other people.  The funny thing about her writing this is when I went to my last doctors appointment my doctor said that I needed to learn to say no.  I know I should because the stress of it all is killing me but I don't know how to.  My grandma is the same way that I am.  So I am going to blame it on her.

Maxine On The New Healthcare Bill

Maxine sums it up.
Let  me get this straight. We're going to be gifted  with a health care plan  written by  a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand  it, passed  by a Congress that  hasn't read it but  exempts  themselves from it, to be  signed by  a president who also hasn't read it and who  smokes, with  funding  administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his  taxes, to be overseen by a  surgeon  general who is obese,  and  financed  by a country that's broke.

What  could  possibly  go wrong ??

March 23, 2010

Well I think an update on the MS is long over due.  For all of you that did read the post where told the results of my MRI I will post a quick recap to bring you all up to speed.  When I went in to see the doctor a few weeks ago she told me that  for the first time since I was diagnosed I was stable!  It is a great feeling to know that I was finally on the drug that was helping me.  So after she told me that she then told me I had to get over whatever my issue was with the new infusion center and go.  I was and am still mad about it  but I will do what they want me to do because this is the only thing that has worked for me.  My next infusion is on the 2nd of April.  I am hoping that all goes well with it because I have to go alone because of work and the fact that Grandma is going out of town that day.
I don't think when I wrote my last that I really got into what the medication I am on does for MS and the bad condition it could cause.  I am on a drug called Tysabri that is administered once a month by an infusion.  An infusion is something similar to what they do when you are having chemo or getting a blood transfusion.  Tysabri was released in 2004 after that it was take off of the market because a few people developed PML or Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.  This is a very rare viral brain condition that causes progressive inflammation of the white matter in the brain.  From what I was told this virus lives in the kidneys of people but most people without compromised immune systems can keep it under control and it causes no problems.  Tysabri works by attaching to the blood brain barrier and keeping the immune cells out of the brain.  So because the immune system can't get up into the brain PML can take over.  There is currently no test to test for the virus.  They released the medication back on the market in 2006 with strict warnings and stipulations.  When I signed up to do this drug I had to sign a waiver saying that the FDA could look at my medical records at any point.
So far this is the only thing I have found to work.  I know the risk of PML greatly increases after you have been on the drug for two years and I am about at that point.  Today 31 0r 33 patients have gotten PML so that makes the odds about 2 in 1000 that you will get it.  For me the benefits still out weigh the risks.  That is a little bit about the drug that I am on let me know if you have any other questions about it!

Top Three Thursdays

What are your top 3 quirks?
  1. The first one is that I am a number fanatic.  I only like odd numbers and I go to the extreme of adding the two numbers together.  For example if the number is 17 I will add 1+7=8 so that is a bad number for me.
  2. I eat in my sleep.  I will wake up and find crumbs and what not in bed because I eat and I don't even know  I am doing it.
  3. I yell at my "cubs" like they are true children and sometimes people on my blog think they are really children.

Shoe Bomber

 I haven't posted an e-mail in a very long time but feel that this needs to be read by people.  So here it is!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?
 Did you know his trial is over?
 Did you know he was sentenced?
 Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
 I didn't think so!!!
Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.  Why wasn't it big news on the media?
  Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.  His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his 'allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,' defiantly stating, 'I think I will not apologize for my actions,' and told the court 'I am at war with your country.'
Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid.
Judge Young:   'Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.
On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the  United States Attorney General.  On counts 2, 3, 4and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively.  (That's 80 years.)
On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed.  The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million.  The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.
The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.
This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes.  It is a fair and just sentence.  It is a righteous sentence.
Now, let me explain this to you.  We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid.  We are Americans.  We have been through the fire before.  There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect.  Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals.  As human beings, we reach out for justice.
You are not an enemy combatant.  You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war.  You are a terrorist.  To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier, you are not----- you are a terrorist.  And we do not negotiate with terrorists.  We do not meet with terrorists.  We do not sign documents with terrorists.  We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
So war talk is way out of line in this court.  You are a big fellow. But you are not that big..  You're no warrior.  I've known warriors. You are a terrorist.  A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders.  In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: 'You're no big deal.'
You are no big deal.
What your able counsel and what the equally able  United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific.  What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?
I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing?  And, I have an answer for you.  It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.
It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom.  Our individual freedom.  Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose.  Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom.  It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea.  It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom, so that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely.  It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
We Americans are all about freedom.  Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties.  Make no mistake though..  It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms.  Look around this courtroom.  Mark it well.  The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here.  The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.
Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across  America , the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done.  The very President of the  United States  through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.
See that flag, Mr. Reid?  That's the flag of the  United States of America .  That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom.  And it always will.
Mr. Custody Officer.  Stand him down.
So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets?  We need more judges like Judge Young
.  Pass this around.  Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say. Powerful words that strike home.
Dazzle Junction Glitter Text
1. On a scale of 1-10, how superstitious are you, honestly?
Probably like a 5 or so.
2. Julius Caesar is quoted as saying, "I came, I saw, I conquered." Which circumstance or experience of yours does this saying best describe?
Everything in my life to be honest with you.  I feel as if I have had that attitude a lot because I haven't had any options but to conquer things that are put in front of me.
3. If I peeked in on your day like a mischievous little leprechaun, at what time would I most likely find you blogging?
While I am at work or after work in the middle of the night when I should be sleeping.
4. Re springing forward for Daylight Saving Time, is there anything you've ever been really early or really late for?
I always try and be places early because if I am going to be late I don't want to go at all.
5. What are you most looking forward to concerning Spring?
The warmer weather and being able to ride around town with my sun roof open on my car.
6. Shamrocks are the national flower of Ireland and are picked on St. Patrick's Day and worn on the lapel or shoulder. Do you wear green on St. Patty's Day?
Yes I do only because little kids take things to far if you aren't wearing green.
7. One of Caesar's assassins, Casca, said, "But, for my own part, it was Greek to me," which of course means he didn't understand something. Probably his own lines in the play. Anyway, what is something that is "Greek to you," something incomprehensible or indecipherable?
How some people are such idiots and can keep making the same mistakes over and over again with out learning from them the first couple of times.
8. Is March behaving more like a lion or a lamb where you live?
Both-It is bi-polar like it always is.
9. "An extra yawn one morning in the springtime, an extra snooze one night in the autumn is all that we ask in return for dazzling gifts. We borrow an hour one night in April; we pay it back with golden interest five months later." -Winston Churchill. If you had one extra hour per day every day, what would you do with it?
Sleep or at least try and sleep because I never get enough sleep that is for sure.
10. Legend says that every Leprechaun has a pot of gold hidden deep in the Irish countryside. Aside from real gold or money, what material item would be in your dream pot of gold?
A house of my own
11. "The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you." Robert Louis Stevenson. Look around you right now and tell us about something essential or beautiful very near you that you take for granted every day.
Misti-She is always there for me and some days I take that for granted.  I try not to but if someone is always there and you work with them it is hard to not take it for granted.  At least it is for me anyways.
12. Just for a bit o' fun, click here  and then report your Irish name.
My Irish name is: Jacinta McNamara
This is the first time I have done this MeMe but I figure why not.  I have a lot of stories that I can write about so this should be too hard.  Today's story took place when I was 15 and learning to drive.  Let me just tell you that I thought driving was dumb at the time and I didn't want to learn because I didn't want to drive.  I wasn't the kind of kid that was super excited to learn to drive.  Anyway now on to the story.
My grandma took me out for the first time.  She took me to an elementary school because it was on the weekend and I could go slow and what not.  So we get to the school and we switch places and I start to drive.  Lets just say I was super nervous and it didn't help that my little brother was in the backseat.  We were coming up to a curve and lets just say at that point I thought the car would turn itself I guess.  So I didn't turn the wheel and I hit the curb but not only did I hit the curb I also took a chunk out of the tire and they had to buy a new tire because I ruined one.  This fateful day was the day I started having issues with curbs that I still have today.  The rims I have on my car now one of them is all beat up because of hitting a curb at work.  My other car I was always running into curbs.
There is my story!  I hope it gave you a good laugh.  Have a great Tuesday!
Idiots Are Taking Over!!!!
So I was told at the doctors that I need to get in and get my infusion done as soon as possible so that I don't get sick and I stay stable.  So I had grandma call because I am at work and don't have time to hold on the phone with places.  Once they finally called her back they said that they now needed all my records from Julia's office.  When she told me this I just about lost it because I was just there yesterday why in the hell didn't they tell me this when I was calling them last week.
I guess Julia's nurse called my grandma back and said if we don't hear from them tomorrow that we should call Monday and she also gave us a name of someone to talk too.   I am just so tired of getting the run around from this infusion place.  It can't really be that hard to do you job can it?  Hell I think I could do their job better than they could.  This is the worst place yet that I have ever had to work with.  Even the insurance company's are easier to work with and that is sad.
I am hoping I will get my infusion in the week or so.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Fursday's With Elinore & Sylvia. . . But First An Update On The MS
It is Fursday and that means it is time for me and Sylvia to post our thoughts and rants on what mom and the rest of the humans have been doing.
This is Sylvia speaking.  I was ready to kill mom the other night because she kept bugging me when I tried to sleep.  How hard is it for her to get that when I am sleeping I expect to be left alone!  I guess mom is "slow" because she doesn't seem to get the fact that when I hiss at her that I don't want to be bugged.  Last time I checked I thought it was pretty straight forward but maybe I am just smarter than the humans are.  Oh well at least they feed me and the gray haired man plays with me all the time.  I even get to supervise him while he is working outside in my yard.  It is a great life!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had my doctors appointment yesterday to get the results of my MRI that I had in February.  Well right when she saw me I got a lecture and was basically told to get over the issues with the new infusion site and go.  I asked her about what the MRI I had said and for the first time since I have been diagnosed I am totally stable.  There were no new lesions on my brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is huge for me because I have always had a very active disease and I always have had new lesions.  So after hearing that I am going to suck it up and do what I have to do to stay on the medication.  Even if that means jumping through hoops for the stupid drug company.
