This year for Christmas I got my first iPod. It is hard to believe that I love Apple products and yet I have never had an iPod. Anyway I got the blue one.
I was so excited to get it and now that I have it I know for a fact that I want to get an iPhone. I just have to figure out where to get one from and then I have to take it to T-Mobile and have them activate it for me. Anyway that was so not what this post is about. My grandparents also paid off my dentist bill so that was nice as well. I literally spent all day yesterday messing around with it and downloading apps on it. I love that I can now carry around all my music and it also gives me something else to mess around with when I can’t sleep at night.
Christmas was better this year than it has been for the last few years so that was nice as well. I think I am going to write a separate post on why Christmas day is hard for me now. I haven’t written about it yet because up until this year I wasn’t able to get through the day let alone write a post about it. So be on the look out for that.
This week for the writers workshop I am going to write about number 3 which is 7 things that bring my comfort. I liked this one because it isn’t something that I would ever think to write about and since my life at work is insanely busy right now I figured this is a post I could get written pretty quickly. So let’s get on to the 7 things.
The first thing that brings me comfort would have to be my two cats.
The next thing that brings me comfort would have to be the stray cats that I feed at work.
I am thankful that the company that is taking over the build that I currently am working in is going to hire all of us come the first of next year so I don’t have to look for a job and figure out what to do about health insurance and what not.
Good food always comforts me when I am sad and what not.
Reading a good book always brings me comfort because it gets me out of my own head and I get to pretend I am someone else and doing fun things.
I also get comfort from watching shows that I love on TV because chances are I have already watched them and I love re-watching them.
The last thing that I do to bring my comfort is watching Youtube video’s because I can always find funny video’s to watch.
Those are the 7 things I do to bring myself comfort. What do you do to comfort yourself?
Here are all the prompts for this week if you want to join in and write about one of them. If you do write about one you can click here and link up your post.
1. Share a fall-inspired drink recipe!
2. Write a poem, post or story where the last two words are ‘thought so’.
3. List 7 things that bring you comfort.
4. List 6 places on you would love to stay locally with your family.
5. Write a poem, post, or story inspired by the word: wet
6. Write a blog post inspired by the word: power
7. Create a December bucket list.
This weeks for the writers workshop I am going to write about number 1 which is a quote I love. As some of you may know I post a quote every week because I love quotes and I love to share quotes that I love with other people. If you want to check those out you can click here and scroll through them. The one quote I have loved since I heard it is:
I love this quote because it is so true. I first saw this quote after I had my daughter and I struck me as true because I never thought I would be able to place my daughter for adoption. Like I always say when people ask me how I get through life “I don’t have an option but to keep going because I can’t just die”. You just have to put one foot in front of the other and know that in time things will pass.
Here are a few other quotes that I am loving right now:
What quote are you loving right now?
Here are the prompts for this week’s so if you want to join in you can pick one and write your post: 1. Share a quote you love. 2. Take a line from a song you love and turn it into the title of your next blog post. Let the content follow. 3. Saturday morning at your house… 4. Best or worst gift you ever gave. 5. Something someone did that put a smile on your face. 6. How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa?
Today’s topic is easy for me. I need to forgive my parents for leaving me at my parents when I was 8 years old. I know I was better off where I was at but there at still days that it hurts and sucks. I feel like I missed out on a lot of moments that children usually have with their parents. I think what makes it harder for me to forgive my mom is that fact that she doesn’t even seem to care. Hell I took the time to find and contact her and now she acts like she could careless. At least my dad is trying. I am not totally comfortable with it yet but I am working on it and he understands that and is willing to let things go at my pace. So I am working on forgiving him but I truly think I am just going to write my mom off and try to forget about her because she doesn’t seem to care at all about me so why should I let it hurt me anymore.
Now for the writers workshop. This week I chose # 1 which is : If I could do it over again… If I could do anything over again I wouldn’t get married. It has been nothing but a waste of time and huge waste of my money. I can honestly say that it is the worst mistake I have made thus far in my life. I would be so much father with my goals if I had just stayed single and not wasted time on him. He has done nothing but make my life hell the entire 4 years we have been together. So that would have to be the thing I would do over again.
Here is a twitter party that I am going to take part in on Friday. It for those of us that aren’t attending BlogHer. It is being thrown by One Cluttered Brain! Everyone should come and join us! It should be a great time and there will even be giveaways!

New York: Give Me Your Best or Your Worst by Elizabeth Crowens was a super fun book to read. I loved all of the pictures that the book included, along with the short stories. This book was a super easy read, and I finished it in just a few days. This is what they call of coffee table book and I think it would be great to just flip through the book and look at all of the pictures. I loved that all of the stories were different, so you never knew what the next story was going to be about. Most of the stories left me smiling, and I think that we all need to do that more often. I loved that most of the pictures there were in the book were older. I am a huge lover of black and white photos, and a majority of the photos in this book are black and white. I also think this book is something you can put out and it doesn’t matter who picks it up because there was nothing in the book that would offend most people (at least in my opinion). I also think that this book would make a great Christmas present for the book lover in your life. If you are looking for a fun book to put on your coffee table, I recommend this one.

An Anthology and Celebration of the Big Apple
I’m an unabashed, unapologetic lover of New York City, my hometown, and New York: Give Me Your Best or Your Worst is right up my dark, deserted alley. New York’s at its best when you sneak up on it, glance at its sideways, or let it glance sideways at you. The pros and photos in this collection all show New York’s best, even when they purport to be showing its worst; in NYC, that’s how we roll. A fine addition to your New York bookshelf, a collection to savor.

Swann’s Down by Charles Salzberg was a book that I wasn’t sure I was going to like but I really did enjoy this book. I fell in love with Henry right from the start of this book and I also really liked Goldblatt so much so that I want to read the other books by this author in the future. This is the fifth book in the series. This was the first book that I have read, and I wasn’t lost or confused at all while I was reading this, so you don’t have to read all the books in order if you don’t want to. Although if you are going to want to read the whole series, I would start with the first book so that nothing will get spoiled. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Rachel, but it did feel bad that she had so much money taken from her. I have a hard time liking people who make stupid choices and she made a ton of those choices. I love when authors do a great job of making the characters come to life for me and this author did that for me. If you love mystery books that don’t have a ton of suspense in them than I am sure you will enjoy this book like I did.

Although he doesn’t actually expect to get paid, he figures it might give him a chance to finally learn more about his partner’s mysterious past. His search takes him into the controversial, arcane world of psychics, fortune tellers, and charlatans while raising questions in his own mind about whether or not there is an after-life.
While working his partner’s case, he’s approached by a former employer, attorney Paul Rudder, to track down a missing witness who might be able to provide an alibi for his client, Nicky Diamond, a notorious mob hitman who’s scheduled to go on trial for murder he claims he didn’t commit in a week. Swann’s search for the missing witness, who happens to be the defendant’s girlfriend, takes him from Brooklyn to a small beach town across the Bay from Mobile, Ala. But what does she really know and will she even come back with him to testify for her boyfriend?

“Psychics, double-crosses, missing persons–Charles Salzberg’s latest Henry Swann book has it all. Swann’s Down is a gritty, no-frills PI novel that brings to mind greats like Reed Farrel Coleman’s Moe Prager and Michael Harvey’s Michael Kelly. Whether this is your first Swann adventure or the latest, you won’t want to miss the brass-knuckle punch that is Swann’s Down. Trust me.” ~ Alex Segura, author of Blackout and Dangerous Ends
“From Manhattan to Coney Island to the steamy shores of Alabama, Charles Salzberg delivers a top-flight mystery with his latest Henry Swann outing. Highly recommended.” ~ Tom Straw, New York Times bestselling author as Richard Castle
Swann’s Down gives readers two intriguing mysteries for the price of one, as skip tracer Henry Swann pursues a woman who might alibi a murderer and a psychic who swindled the ex-wife of Swann’s partner. Shamus Award-nominated Salzberg does a superb job cutting between the two investigations. I kept turning pages to stay with both chases as the suspense increased to the very end. Whatever is going on, Swann is at the center of this story. His wry wit, quotes from authors and philosophers, genius for questioning suspects, and dark past make him a character readers will follow anywhere as he seeks his quarry. This is another thrilling addition to this excellent series. ~ Rich Zahradnik, Lights Out Summer, winner of the 2018 Shamus Award for Best Paperback Private Eye Novel
Henry Swann dives in where others fear to tread in Swann’s Down: Fast. Funny. And Smart. This time out, Swann crosses paths with a psycho hitman, a phony psychic and Swann’s mysterious partner, a disbarred lawyer. Who could ask for more? I hope we’ll see a lot more of Swann in the future and that this isn’t Swann’s swan song. ~ Paul D. Marks, Shamus Award-winning Author of White Heat and Broken Windows.
