20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year

20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year

This week I chose to write about number 2 which is: 20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year.

  1. Make a list of YouTube videos that make you laugh.
  2. Pick a different quote each day to focus on for the day.
  3. Do something every day that will make you smile.
  4. Think of 3 things that you are grateful for each morning right when you get up.
  5. Try and focus on the good in your life and not on the negative stuff.
  6. Get a new pet to love.
  7. Spend times with your friends more often.
  8. Pick a good book to read once a month.
  9. Find a hobby that you love and try to do it once a week.
  10. Try and not be around the toxic people in your life.
  11. Watch a movie that you know will make you laugh.
  12. Try and find the good in every day.
  13. If you are unhappy with your job, then find a new one that you will enjoy.
  14. De-clutter your house and your spaces.
  15. Spend time in the real world more often and put down your digital devices. I do this because one the weekend comes the last thing I want to do is turn on my computer or mess around on my phone. I started this when my last laptop died, and I have to say that I have kept it up because it is a great feeling to be able to disconnect for a few days.
  16. Don’t watch or read as much news because we all know that watching/reading the news will either piss you off or make you depressed.
  17. Put a limit on how much time you spend on Facebook. Nothing good ever comes of spending your entire life on Facebook.
  18. Spend your money wisely and put money in savings.
  19. Take the money you have saved and go on a vacation even if you stay in the state you live in. Get a hotel room and just relax for the night.
  20. Go and get pampered because everyone needs to feel special some of the time.

Those are the 20 things that I was able to come up with.

What are you going to do to make this the best year yet?

Here are the prompts for this week in case you want to join in or if you are just looking for something to write about on your blog.  If you do join in make sure you click here and link up your post so I can check out what you chose.

1. The last time my heart melted was because…
2. A list of 20 ideas to make this your best year yet.
3. Write about how you would spend the perfect Snow Day.
4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: fight.
5. If you could have given yourself a snapshot five years ago of what your life is like now, what would the picture be of and how do you think you would have felt about it?
6. Share a favorite recipe you have been loving.

The Body In The Landscape by Larissa Reinhart

Book Review 1-2016

The Body In The Landscape by Larissa Reinhart was an okay book.  I wasn’t a huge fan of the story but it was well written and I am sure that most people would enjoy this story.  I want to check out other books by this author because I loved the authors writing style and I try not to  write an author off if I don’t like the first book I read by them.  This is the 5th book in the series and it is the first one I have read.  I was able to understand what was going on in this book but it would have been nice to read the other books first because then I would have known the back story but you can just read this one and understand what is going on.  If you love chick lit books than I am sure you will like this one.  I think one of the things that turned me off of this book is the fact that part of it has to do with hunting and I am not a fan of that.  That being said there isn’t to much of that in the book but it just turned me off right from the start.

The Body In The Landscape by Larissa Reinhart

About The Book

“Anyone who likes humorous mysteries will also enjoy local author Larissa Reinhart, who captures small town Georgia in the laugh-out-loud escapades of struggling artist Cherry Tucker.” – Fayette Woman Magazine

“Cherry is a quirky spitfire who lights the match that sets her little town on fire.” – Dru’s Book Musings

When Cherry Tucker’s invited to paint the winning portrait for Big Rack Lodge’s Hogzilla hunt, it seems like a paid vacation. Back home in Halo, a Hatfield-McCoy-style standoff builds between Luke and Cherry’s families. She’s ready for a weekend away, hobnobbing with rich and famous hunters, where she can forget her troubles and nobody knows her name.

As Georgia sunshine turns to bleak December rain, Cherry’s R&R goes MIA when she finds a body in the woods. While the police believe the local drunk took an accidental spill, Cherry has her doubts, particularly when a series of malicious pranks are targeted at the rifle toting contestants. With loyal companions at her side—sort-of-ex-husband Todd and a championship bayer named Buckshot—Cherry tracks suspects through a forest full of pitfalls and perils. And all the while, a killer’s stalking the hunt party with a bead on Cherry.

Excerpt

Looking out over the crowd, a flash of sky blue caught his eye. He did a double take.

It was her.

Wearing a long, flimsy dress that hugged her ample breasts and flowed to the floor in a pool of fluff, she stole the spotlight. The green tips had vanished from the the blonde ringlets now piled high on her head, her nails painted a soft pink. Her face looked pale and ethereal, her skin glowing in the dim, chandelier lights. The diamond stud at her nose twinkled, but not nearly as much as her round eyes which seemed to fade into the dress. She looked nothing like the tough, leather-bound smart-ass at the airport, but an exquisite, delicate woman.

A chameleon.

Who was she? Security was tight, with invitation-only admittance. Now was his chance to find out why she skipped out on him and possibly get more information for Jaydan and Grayson Donner.

He squeezed Hope’s elbow. “Excuse me a minute. I see someone I know.”

Making his way through the ocean of body heat and free-flowing drinks, he found her standing at a bar height table with two couples, a plate of food in front of her. The others ignored her while she dug into her extravagant fare.

“Sweetpea, fancy meeting you here.” He nodded at the others, a false smile pasted on his face.

A model of composure, she straightened her napkin on the table before turning to look at him. “Well, Honey Dump-”

She gave him a slow perusal, her eyes shining brighter the longer she looked. Heat climbed in his face and filtered through his body. That’s the second time he’d gotten hot and bothered around her. She was so…obvious about her attraction to him. It made him uncomfortable.

But, horny as hell.

Her voice barely carried over the buzz of conversation. “You take my breath away, Dumpling.”

Stick to business, Rose. Don’t let her distract you.

“What are you doing here?”

Picking up a cracker, she said, “Free food.” She scooped some caviar onto the cracker and took a bite.

God, the woman was a complete smart-ass. So, why in hell was he standing beside her, aroused, knowing she skipped out on him and could have information on a missing woman?

Dumb-ass, Rose.

Ralph Waldo Emerson-Quote Of The Week

Quote Of The Week

This week quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I loved this quote when I found it but if I am being honest I don’t know that I could ever do anything like this.  I am very much the person who will follow a path because I am so shy and hate to be noticed.  I am okay to just be in the background and not be noticed.

I have always wondered if it was something I would grow out of but now that I am 31 I think this is just who I am.  I can at times push myself and make myself do things I don’t want to but not very often.

Since I am being honest I can say the reason I have been at my job for 8 years even though I hate it is because the thought of finding and starting a new job makes me sick to my stomach.

What do you think of this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson?

Ian Leaf’s Fraud, Fraudsters and Scams #IanLeaf

Book Review 1-2016

Ian Leaf’s Fraud, Fraudsters and Scams was an interesting book to read.  I am glad it was a shorter book because I don’t know that I could have gotten through it if it had been longer.   This book walks you through setting up an Instagram account for your business as well as what to post on it and how to use hashtags and think like that.  I haven’t gotten into Instagram for my blog but after reading this book, I think I am going to try and see if it really will help me build a bigger audience.  This book is written in plain English and isn’t something that you wouldn’t understand if you are 100% knowledgeable on Instagram and how it works.  I am going to test out what this book says to do and in a few months, I will come back and let you know how it all worked out for me.

Ian Leaf's Fraud, Fraudsters and Scams #IanLeaf

About The Book

With the world around us changing at a seemingly breakneck pace and technological advancements radically altering the manner in which we communicate and do business with each other, far too many people are falling prey to fraudsters who understand all too well how to take advantage of our rapidly changing world. Ian Leaf’s newest work focuses on addressing this important issue by demonstrating how people can utilize new and innovative social media platforms like Instagram without placing themselves at risk of being scammed in some unforeseen way.

In “Fraud, Fraudsters and Scams – What to Watch for on Instagram,” Ian Leaf uses his professional expertise to demonstrate the safest methodologies available regarding the effective use of Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms that are becoming increasingly critical communication tools for both personal use and for enhanced brand awareness. Through Leaf’s new book, consumers, brand managers, entrepreneurs and others can continue to experience the many benefits made possible through effective social media use while eliminating any concerns relating to being taken advantage of by those engaged in deceptive behavior and outright acts of fraud.

Leaf’s text begins by sharing similar circumstances he experienced with fraudsters taking advantage of consumers using Amazon’s platform, outlining how his efforts revealed this unscrupulous behavior and ensured that consumers were able to conduct business without the negative influence of scammers going to great lengths to manipulate product reviews for their own financial gain. His success in exposing this fraudulent behavior is not an isolated incident, as Leaf has enjoyed a long professional career in fraud detection and has assisted many consumers in learning how to recognize fraud and how to defend against being victimized.

The book also covers some of the more practical aspects of social media use, as Leaf takes the time to go through the step-by-step processes involved in registering for an Instagram account and setting it up for personal or professional use. The educational components cover both simple and complex issues relating to social media use, from explaining how to effectively employ the use of a hashtag to detailing how to link multiple social media accounts so they are thoroughly protected from the tactics commonly used by scammers and fraudsters. With practical advice, straightforward explanations and rare insight, Ian Leaf’s “Fraud, Fraudsters and Scams – What to Watch for on Instagram” provides valuable information for anyone who wishes to avoid the consequences of being victimized by fraudsters while using various social media platforms.
