8 Things For Bored Kids To Do

8 Things For Bored Kids To Do

When I saw that one of the prompts this week was to list eight things for bored kids to do, I knew I had to write about it because of things that my Grandma used to make me do if I ever said I was bored. To this day, I still never say I am bored to her because I have no doubt she would find something for me to do that I don’t want to do. Anyway here are eight things that your kids could do if they say they are bored.

  1. Have them go and clean something. This is what my Grandma would have me do if I ever told her I was bored. She usually made me go and dust which to this day I still hate doing and I am sure that is what her mom made her do if she said she was bored.
  2. Have them go and read a good book.

  3. Depending on the time of year they can go outside and play with friends or ride bikes.

  4. Give them a craft to work on that won’t cause a super big mess but will keep them entertained.

  5. Have them play a board game if the weather outside isn’t the best. This one would never have worked for my brother and me because to this day we still get into huge fights when we play board games together.

  6. Set up a small scavenger hunt for them to work on.

  7. Help them bake some cookies and take they to an elder neighbor.

  8. Go and explore somewhere you and the kids have never been before.

Those are 8 things that you could try and do with your children if they say they are bored. Even now as an adult I don’t say those words because I always get stuck doing something that I have no desire to do.

What is something that you would have your kids do when they say they are bored?

1. List 10 things you love about motherhood
2. A photo journal entry…show us what winter looks like in your town.
3. Book review!
4. Write a blog post inspired by the word: shocked.
5. Take a look at your archives, what were you blogging about in a previous year at this time? What has changed?
6. List 8 solutions for bored children.
7. Write about something funny a sibling said to you.

20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year

20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year

This week I chose to write about number 2 which is: 20 Ideas To Make 2016 A Great Year.

  1. Make a list of YouTube videos that make you laugh.
  2. Pick a different quote each day to focus on for the day.
  3. Do something every day that will make you smile.
  4. Think of 3 things that you are grateful for each morning right when you get up.
  5. Try and focus on the good in your life and not on the negative stuff.
  6. Get a new pet to love.
  7. Spend times with your friends more often.
  8. Pick a good book to read once a month.
  9. Find a hobby that you love and try to do it once a week.
  10. Try and not be around the toxic people in your life.
  11. Watch a movie that you know will make you laugh.
  12. Try and find the good in every day.
  13. If you are unhappy with your job, then find a new one that you will enjoy.
  14. De-clutter your house and your spaces.
  15. Spend time in the real world more often and put down your digital devices. I do this because one the weekend comes the last thing I want to do is turn on my computer or mess around on my phone. I started this when my last laptop died, and I have to say that I have kept it up because it is a great feeling to be able to disconnect for a few days.
  16. Don’t watch or read as much news because we all know that watching/reading the news will either piss you off or make you depressed.
  17. Put a limit on how much time you spend on Facebook. Nothing good ever comes of spending your entire life on Facebook.
  18. Spend your money wisely and put money in savings.
  19. Take the money you have saved and go on a vacation even if you stay in the state you live in. Get a hotel room and just relax for the night.
  20. Go and get pampered because everyone needs to feel special some of the time.

Those are the 20 things that I was able to come up with.

What are you going to do to make this the best year yet?

New Years Eve-Writer’s Workshop

New Years Eve 2016

This week for the writer’s workshop I am going to write about number 3 which is: If the way you spent your New Year’s Eve is any indication of how the rest of the year will go, how would you say your future is looking right about now?

I can only hope that this year will be like my new years eve was because it was quiet and laid back which is something that never seemed to happen to me last year.  The past year has been nothing short of insane for me at work and in my personal life.  It has been super hard for me to relax because my work life has been so crazy.  I am hoping that because I now work for a different company that things will settle  down and I will be able to like my job.

I am hoping that because I now work for a different company that things will settle  down and I will be able to like my job.  It is getting because we now are basically functioning at 100% which is great because it has been a crazy couple of months.  The only stressful part is that I have no idea what I am going to be doing so that is always as stressful for me.  I hate change so for me not to know what I will be doing is giving me tons of anxiety.

So I hope that this year will be like my New Years Eve was because I don’t know how I will deal with it if turns out like 2015 did.

How about you???

These are the rest of the prompts for this week in case you want to pick one and write about it.

1. Share your 2016 New Year’s Resolution.
2. Did you pick a Word Of The Year for 2015? Share!
3. If the way you spent your New Year’s Eve is any indication of how the rest of the year will go, how would you say your future is looking right about now?

Writers Workshop-Best or Worst Gift

Best Or Worst Gifts

This week I chose to write about number four which is: Best or worst gift you have received. When I saw this prompt I knew I wanted to write about it because one of the worst days in my life happened on Christmas and I don’t think I have ever written about it on my blog so I figured now is as good as any time to talk about it.

Now that being said this wasn’t a true gift because I couldn’t hold it or anything like that, but it did happen on Christmas day.  It was about 4 years ago since my now ex-husband thought it would be a great idea to send me a text message on Christmas day telling me that he wanted to get a divorce.  We did end up trying to figure things out after but it didn’t work because he could never understand why telling some that they want a divorce on Christmas was something that I could never forget.  I still have a heard time at Christmas because of what he did but every year I do my best to not let what he did bring me down.

What was your best or worst gift?

Here are all the prompts for this weeks writers workshop in case you want to pick one and write about it.

1. Write a blog post inspired by the last text exchange you responded to.
2. Share a favorite holiday inspired recipe!
3. Create a gift guide.
4. Best or worst gift you ever received.
5. Describe how you would celebrate the holidays if it was totally up to you and money was not a factor.
6. Write a blog post inspired by the word: frozen.

7 Things That Bring Me Comfort

This week for the writers workshop I am going to write about number 3 which is 7 things that bring my comfort.  I liked this one because it isn’t something that I would ever think to write about and since my life at work is insanely busy right now I figured this is a post I could get written pretty quickly.  So let’s get on to the 7 things.

  1. The first thing that brings me comfort would have to be my two cats.
  2. The next thing that brings me comfort would have to be the stray cats that  I feed at work.
  3. I am thankful that the company that is taking over the build that I currently am working in is going to hire all of us come the first of next year so I don’t have to look for a job and figure out what to do about health insurance and what not.
  4. Good food always comforts me when I am sad and what not.
  5. Reading a good book always brings me comfort because it gets me out of my own head and I get to pretend I am someone else and doing fun things.
  6. I also get comfort from watching shows that I love on TV because chances are I have already watched them and I love re-watching them.
  7. The last thing that I do to bring my comfort is watching Youtube video’s because I  can always find funny video’s to watch.

Those are the 7 things I do to bring myself comfort.  What do you do to comfort yourself?
