The Bull Rider’s Bride by Vickie McDonough was a sweet story. I am a huge fan of these books because they are shorter, and I was able to get through the book pretty quick. These are my favorite characters in this series that I have read, and I wish that the book would have been a regular length because I was sad when it was over. This was a super sweet Christian romance and a book that anyone could read no matter what their age. I would recommend this book to anyone who love romance novels because it is a sweet story that anyone of any age can read.

The Bull Rider’s Bride by Vickie McDonough

About The Book

ECPA bestselling author Vickie McDonough continues the Lone Star Brides series with this heart-warming story of lost love.

Dusty Starr is unstoppable in the rodeo arena, but when it comes to love? He was bucked off long ago. Now he has a second chance at love, but will he have what it takes to win?

Champion bull rider Dusty Starr is at the top of his game—until a bull throws him and stomps on his leg. He goes home to heal and watch after his grandma until he can rejoin the circuit. While there are no guarantees that bull riding is in his future, his past is alive and well in the form of Gramma’s beautiful physical therapist—a woman he never expected to see again.

Physical therapist Lindsey Lang once loved Dusty, but then tragedy struck because of his younger brother’s recklessness, and Dusty did something she never thought he’d do. He abandoned her, leaving her to mourn alone. Being assigned to Grandma Starr is hard enough, but with Dusty there, Lindsey’s sure her heart won’t survive.

Against all expectations, friendship renews, and Dusty dares to hope Lindsey will forgive him. She’s the only girl he’s ever loved and he aims to get her back. But friendship is one thing. A second chance at love? That will take more gumption than riding a rank bull—and then some

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Serenade Book’s in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Rhinestone Cowgirl by Denice Christensen wasn’t my favorite book, but it is a sweet story. It seems like I have read a ton of books like this one lately and I just wasn’t the biggest fan of this one. I did enjoy the authors writing, and I would love to check out more books by her in the future. I found that this book was predictable, and I wasn’t the biggest fan of the characters in this book either. If you love Christian romance novels then I think you would enjoy this book but it just wasn’t the right choice for me.

Rhinestone Cowgirl by Denice Christensen

About The Book

What could make a city girl fall for a country boy? Debut author Denice Stewart invites you to find out!

After her big-city relationship goes sour, Tory Thompson is looking for a new career, a new location, and a fresh start. The last place she expected to land–or find love–was back in tiny Wheaton, Oklahoma. Without the windfall her grandmother left her, Tory would have nowhere to go when her life in the big city goes wrong. But the will stipulates that Tory has to work with her childhood crush, Dane. And that’s a disaster waiting to happen…

Dane Eckland has a new landlord for his leased farmland—but Tory’s not what he was expecting. He’s already had his heart broken by one Thompson woman. All he wants is to keep his head down and work the land. But working with Tory stirs up emotions he’d thought long buried, and he can’t resist the city girl’s brand of charm.

Then Tory’s past comes calling, and she has a new goal: prove she’s a small-town girl, after all.

About The Author

I write because I must – the characters in my head simply will not be quiet until I have let them have their say on the page.

I was an avid reader as a child, and throughout high school. I would constantly remind my parents when they would find me awake at one a.m. that I could have been doing far worse things in the middle of the night than reading. This did not save me from being forced to put the books down and go to bed.

And if I am fortunate enough to tell a story that keeps someone awake at night because they must finish the book, then I will be thrilled.”

Denice Christensen is an Oklahoma native, and lives in the small town where she grew up. As a single mom with three kids, she feels like her life is a comedy most of the time, so writing romantic comedy makes sense to her. In between being a small business owner, a writer, and a mom, occasionally she finds time to sleep. Rhinestone Cowgirl is her debut novel.

The Boy Next Door: Inspirational Romance Anthology (Hometown Romance)

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Serenade Book’s in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Boy Next Door: Inspirational Romance Anthology (Hometown Romance) was a great collection of books. I am going to talk a little bit about each book, so you know what I think about each one. The one thing I loved about this book is that there are several stories so if one didn’t work for me I could just go on to the next story.

The Chef Next Door by Lenora Worth

I enjoyed the characters in this story. They all seemed super relatable and like they could exist in the real world. This story was predictable to me and usually when it comes to stories like that I don’t end up liking the book, but I did enjoy this story.

Reclaiming Brynn by Susan Crawford

I would have to say that this one was one of my favorites because I felt like I could relate the most to the characters. I felt like this because my biological parents were/are still drug addicts so I understand what Brynn went through. I enjoyed Garrett as well. This was a well rounded story that I can see most people enjoying.

Special Delivery: A Seaside Romance by Gayle Roper

This was an okay story just not my favorite of the bunch. I don’t have much to say about it because I didn’t enjoy the story as much as I did the others. It was well written but just not the story for me.

Autumn Skye by Kathleen Y’Barbo

I liked Autumn and this story. I didn’t find it to be the most original, but I still enjoyed it. I enjoyed the author’s style of writing, and I was a huge fan of Bonnie Sue right from the start. I am always a huge sucker for characters like her because they remind me of some of the people I took care of when I worked in a nursing home.

O Little Town of Bethany by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

I couldn’t get into this story, and I am not sure why. For some reason, this book was super hard for me to get into and to finish. It is ones like this one that make me glad that they are shorter than some books. I know that this book will be right for some people, but it is just one of those that didn’t work for me.

The Boy Next Door

About The Book

A collection of five contemporary romance novellas for one low price–check out these new titles from some of your favorite inspirational romance authors:

These five women aren’t looking for love, but they might find it closer than they think…maybe even right next door.

The Chef Next Door by Lenora Worth
The whole world saw Alice get fired on network TV. Now she has to go home and face her high school crush, the boy next door. Brice wants Alice in his life, no matter what it takes. But she’s been burned once…will she take a chance on him?

Reclaiming Brynn by Susan Crawford
Medical resident Brynn Harper will do anything to help an at-risk teenaged patient—even go toe to toe with the one man she’d rather forget. Her former best friend Garrett has changed his life, but how can Brynn ever trust the man who once abandoned her?

Special Delivery: A Seaside Romance by Gayle Roper
When Kelli accepts a package delivered to the wrong address, she gets a lot more than misdirected mail. She gets a mystery that brings the unexpected into her life in the form of the boy next door—and a threat they’ll only survive together.

Autumn Skye by Kathleen Y’Barbo
Autumn is good at one thing: cutting ties. But the boy next door has her thinking the impossible. Maybe for the first time ever…she should stay. If only Nate wasn’t hiding secrets of his own…

O Little Town of Bethany by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

The Bluebonnet Bride by Pamela Tracy was a super sweet short story. So far I have enjoyed every book I have gotten to review from Serenade Books, and this book was another great one. I think these characters might be my favorite because they seemed the most relatable to me. I loved that this was a shorter book, but I also wish that it had been longer because I enjoyed this characters and I would have loved to get to spend more time with them. I loved this author writing, and I hope that she writes more books because I would like to read more by her. If you love romance novels then I would for sure, recommend this book to you.

Amy knows all about the swashbuckling Starr Brothers, but anyone who turns his back on her beloved Pecan–and on his own grandmother–doesn’t deserve admiration. Redeeming Cade by Susan Crawford

Book Review 1-2016

Redeeming Cade by Susan Crawford was a great book.  I loved Cade from the start of the book and I just loved him even more as the story went on.  There was something that I liked about Darby but I wasn’t totally sure about her because of her being a politician and I didn’t like how she acted from time to time.  That being said though I could tell she was a good person and I hoped that things would work out for everyone involved in the book.  This is a shorter book which is truly enjoyed because I was able to read it all even though I have been super busy with work.  If you are looking for super sweet story to read than I know you will love this book.

Redeeming Cade by Susan Crawford

About The Book

Cade McGuire has turned a one-eighty. The ex-con is now assistant director at the downtown mission that gave him a fresh start when he needed it most. When Cade attends a press conference and discovers that a woman running for a seat on the city council plans to close the mission, he can’t just stand by. Not even for a politician as beautiful as Darby Phillips.

Darby has been groomed her whole life for a future in politics. The City Council seat is just the first step in following her grandfather’s footsteps and making a difference for the community. When the obviously blue-collar Cade confronts her at a press conference, demanding she come and meet the people she’ll displace with her fancy new entertainment district, she knows refusing would be political suicide. No problem. A few hours at a rundown mission won’t change anything.

As Darby and Cade butt heads over what the city needs most, one unsettling thing becomes clear: though they’re from opposite worlds, they might just be what each other needs.

Love’s a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

Book Review

Love’s a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay was a sweet love story.  I loved this book because it was super sweet and not only that but it was a shorter book and I love reading shorter books in between some of the more intense books that I have been reading and reviewing lately.  I can’t say enough great things about this story.  This is the first book I have read by either of these authors and I can’t wait to read more by them because they did a great job of making fall in love with both of the characters and the entire story.  If you love romance novels than you don’t want to miss this story.

Love's a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

Actor Nick Armstrong has been in love with Aly since they met during freshman year. He’s happy to accept his assigned place in her Friend Zone because it lets him be close to her. Nick has the perfect plan: fake an engagement to each other to inspire her parents to fight to save their marriage. And who knows? It might trigger Aly’s feelings for him. But when Aly takes the ruse to the next level—planning a wedding in her parents’ backyard and hiring additional actors to play his family—enough is enough!

Journeys of the Heart: An Anthology by Camille Elliot, Winnie Griggs, and Erica Vetsch

Book Review

Journeys of the Heart was another great book filled with 3 short stories.  I did a review on a book similar to this one a week or so ago so if you missed that review you can click here to  check it out.  Like I said in that review that I love books like this because I can read one of the stories in one sitting and then walk away and pick it up later and not have to remember what happened because the stories don’t have to go in order.  Unlike the other one there is no way that I could pick which story that I liked the most out of this book. I loved all the stories and I can’t wait until I have the time to read books by each of these authors.  If you love historical fiction that I would sure recommend this book for you.

Winnie Griggs

Winnie Griggs grew up in south Louisiana in an undeveloped area her friends thought of as the very back of beyond. With her two younger siblings and another family of two siblings for playmates, she spent many an hour exploring the overgrown land around her home, cutting jungle trails, building forts and frontier camps, and looking for pirate ships on the nearby bayou.

Once she ‘grew up’ she found other outlets for dealing with all those wonderful, adventurous imaginary friends by filling notebooks with their stories. And somewhere along the way, those scribblings gave way to full length stories.

Eventually she found her own Prince Charming, a rancher whose white steed takes the form of a tractor and whose kingdom is situated in a small rural community that she loves to call home, and together they’ve built their own storybook happily-ever-after. Their lives together expanded to include four now grown children who share Winnie’s vivid imagination and her husband’s steadier influences and are now out in the world pursuing their own adventures.

Winnie shares her stories with readers through her writings for Love Inspired and Love Inspired Historical books. You can learn more about Winnie at www.winniegriggs.com

Erica Vetsch

Even though Erica Vetsch has set aside her career teaching history to high school students in order to homeschool her own children, but her love of history hasn’t faded. Erica’s favorite books are historical novels and history books, and one of her greatest thrills is stumbling across some obscure historical factoid that makes her imagination leap. She’s continually amazed at how God has allowed her to use her passion for history, romance, and daydreaming to craft historical romances that entertain readers and glorify Him. Whenever she’s not following flights of fancy in her fictional world, Erica is the company bookkeeper for her family’s lumber business, a mother of two terrific teens, wife to a man who is her total opposite and yet her soul mate, and an avid museum patron.

Firefly Summer by Kathleen Y’Barbo

Book Review

Firefly Summer by Kathleen Y’Barbo was a great book.  I loved this book from the start right up until the end of this book.  I love when books have meaning and things that you can learn from while you are reading and this book does that.  I loved watching the characters grow throughout this story and see how they grew.  This was a super easy book to read and one that I recommend to everyone this summer.  It was a sweet story and a very easy read.  If you read this book please let me know what you think of it.

Firefly Summer

About The Book

Artist Sessa Chambers may never recover from losing her prodigal son. Even as she grieves the tragic decisions that led to his death, and left her with a toddler to raise, she’s asked to work on her dream project—restoring carousel horses for the Smithsonian. But she can’t do it on her own…

Dr. Trey Brown can’t pick up a scalpel again. Yes, he acted in self-defense, but the events of that awful night haunt him. He was trained to save lives, not take them. When he goes to the young man’s widowed mother to apologize, she’s not at all what he expected. For one thing, she’s not as alone as he thought—not with the fearsome ladies of the Pies, Books, and Jesus Book Club in her corner. For another, she’s beautiful, and being in her presence is more jolting than any eight-second bronco ride from his former rodeo days. Before he knows it, she’s captured his heart as easily as they capture the fireflies gracing Sessa’s Texas ranch.

How can they overcome their past to embrace a future together?

Kiss The Cowboy by Julie Jarnagin

Book Review

Kiss The Cowboy by Julie Jarnagin was a super fun story.  I read another short story by this author and so far I have loved everything that I have read from her.  Even though books like this can be predictable I still loved the story and I truly believe that is because of the author’s writing.  I was a huge fan of Dylan from the start and just liked him more and more as the story went on.  I loved the back and forth between the characters and watching them fall in love with each other as the book goes on.  This predictable or at least it was to me but like I said before I still really enjoyed this story.  If you are looking for a sweet romance novel than I would for sure recommend this one to you.
