Waiting For Morning by Karen Kingsbury

Fall Book Review Graphic

Waiting For Morning by Karen Kingsbury was a heart breaking story and I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know how it all worked out and how she managed to get through everything.  This book also brought up feelings in myself about forgiving people for things they have done to you.  If she could do this than I know I can one day forgive my parents for things that happened to me in my past.  Now I know some people are think “she knows this book isn’t real, right”?!?!?  I know this is a fiction story but books like this are always based on something that did happen and that is why the authors are able to make you understand what is going on and can make you understand and feel what the characters are feeling.  I loved everything about this book and I can’t say enough good things about it.  If you love reading books that aren’t afraid to take on serious issues that we face today than I would tell you to pick up this book and read it because I know you won’t be let down.

Waiting For Morning by Karen Kingsbury

About The Book

“I’m afraid there’s been a car accident…”

As Hannah Ryan waits for her family to return home from a camping trip, she realizes she has everything going for her—a husband other women admire, two charming teenage daughters, and a loving Christian home. As the sunny afternoon turns into twilight, her uneasiness grows along with the shadows. Then a car pulls into Hannah’s driveway, bringing two police officers…and devastating news that shatters her life forever.

In the days that follow, Hannah struggles with unspeakable feelings of sorrow and rage—feelings that fuse into one chilling purpose for living: revenge against Brian Wesley, the drunk driver who has caused all her pain.

In her fury, Hannah shuts the Lord out of her life. She’s determined not to forgive Wesley or the God who allowed this tragedy to happen. Can two caring people help Hannah rediscover her faith…before bitterness destroys her?

Fall Book Review Graphic

Breathless by Becki Brannen was a fun book to read.  I have read several books with similar plots to this one but I still really enjoyed this story and the author’s writing.  I know that from the start Ryan not being up front and honest with Carly is going to end up badly because it always does but I was still interested in reading the rest of the story because I want to know how it all worked out and how long Ryan was able to keep pretending he wasn’t famous.  Even though I know the pattern that these books follow I still couldn’t stop reading until I was done with the book and I always love books like that.  I can’t say enough good things about this book and I would recommend it to anyone who loves chick lit books.

Breathless by Becki Brannen

About The Book

What happens when an ordinary girl meets the man of everyone’s dreams? Keeping secrets is never easy, especially since Ryan Spalding is on the cover of every magazine and this year’s “Hottest Hunk under 30.” Good thing busy lawyer Carly Sparks is so out of the loop when it comes to celebrity affairs, or she’d realize she was in one! Leading man Ryan Spalding tempts Carly Sparks in ways she’s only ever seen in the movies. She’s drifted away from a promise she made to God as a teenager, but Carly must rely on her faith when her relationship with Ryan is put to the test. Will it be enough to keep them together, or will theirs be just another failed Hollywood romance?

Avalon: a Heartwarming True Cat Story by Vanessa Morgan

Book Review

Avalon: a Heartwarming True Cat Story by Vanessa Morgan was such a good book to read.  As most of you know I am a total cat person so when the author contacted me about reviewing this book I knew I had to.  I can’t say no to books written about cats because they always make me laugh and I can imagine whatever is going on happening with my own cats.  Now that being said I am so glad that neither of my cats are as crazy as Avalon but I still couldn’t help but laugh at the things that he did because I could totally see some cat do everything he did and more.  I like the author couldn’t/wouldn’t get rid of my cat just because they were acting all sorts of crazy.  If you are an animal person or if you want to read a story that will leave you smiling than I would for sure recommend this book to you.

Avalon a Heartwarming True Cat Story

About The Book

Some cats need nine lives to make a difference. Avalon only needed one.

From Amazon bestselling author Vanessa Morgan, Avalon is the heartwarming and once-in-a-lifetime love story of a girl and her neurotic Turkish Van cat.

With humor, the author details how Avalon made other creatures cringe in distress whenever he was around, how he threw her dates out by means of special techniques, and how he rendered it almost impossible for her to leave the house. Avalon was so incorrigible that even her landlord ordered her to get rid of him. But beneath Avalon’s demonic boisterousness, Vanessa recognized her own flaws and insecurities, and she understood that abandoning Avalon would be the worst she could do to him. Thanks to her unswerving loyalty, Avalon transformed into a tender feline, and even landed a major role in a horror movie. In turn, Avalon made it his mission to be there for his human companion.

Avalon is a memoir for anyone who has ever been obsessively in love with a pet.

Love’s a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

Book Review

Love’s a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay was a sweet love story.  I loved this book because it was super sweet and not only that but it was a shorter book and I love reading shorter books in between some of the more intense books that I have been reading and reviewing lately.  I can’t say enough great things about this story.  This is the first book I have read by either of these authors and I can’t wait to read more by them because they did a great job of making fall in love with both of the characters and the entire story.  If you love romance novels than you don’t want to miss this story.

Love's a Stage by Rene Gutteridge & Cheryl McKay

Nick has the perfect plan: fake an engagement to each other to inspire her parents to fight to save their marriage. And who knows? It might trigger Aly’s feelings for him. But when Aly takes the ruse to the next level—planning a wedding in her parents’ backyard and hiring additional actors to play his family—enough is enough!

Coercion by Tim Tigner

Book Review

Coercion by Tim Tigner was an interesting book and I am super glad that I got it review.  I love books like this one because I can’t put the book down until I am done with it.  It is also one of those books that after I finished it I had to wait until the next day to start a new one because I was so wrapped up in the characters from this book.  I am not usually interested in political/military thrillers but I loved this one.  At times it was hard to follow who was talking but I was always able to figure it out and I was never lost for more than a paragraph or two.  This book also did keep me on the edge of my seat which is another thing that I loved about this book.  I loved everything about this story and I can’t wait to check out other books by this author.  If you love thrillers than I know you will enjoy this book.  If you do check it out please let me know what you think about it.

COERCION by Tim Tigner

About The Book

Paperback: 320 pages

Publisher: Thomas & Mercer (July 7, 2015)

The phone rings and the offer is made, leaving you only seconds to decide. Betray your country, or watch your family drop dead before your eyes.

After the Iron Curtain’s collapse, Russia appears to be finished as a superpower. But KGB general Vasily Karpov is secretly working to restore Russia’s status by forcing Americans into traitorous acts of espionage and sabotage, with the aid of a new secret weapon. Meanwhile, his biggest target is within Russia, where Karpov is plotting to capture the Kremlin for himself.

Former US soldier and spy Alex Ferris becomes the first to fathom Karpov’s grand plans. Racing from San Francisco to Siberia, Alex must elude ambushes, assassins, and death from exposure as he wages a one-man war against a growing global threat and the resurgence of the Soviets.

“Tim Tigner is a masterful storyteller with a nose for intrigue and a careful eye for historical detail. Set in the aftermath of the collapse of the Iron Curtain, his latest book, “Coercion,” is a compelling tale of espionage and betrayal, one that will leave its readers wanting more.”  — James A. Baker, III, 61st U.S. Secretary of State

Tim Tigner

About The Author

Tim began his career in Soviet Counterintelligence with the US Army Special forces, the Green Berets. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tim switched from espionage to arbitrage. Armed with a Wharton MA rather than a Colt M16, he moved to Moscow in the midst of Perestroika. There he lead prominent multinational medical companies, worked with cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station (from Earth, alas), chaired the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and helped write Russia’s first law on healthcare.

Moving to Brussels during the formation of the EU, Tim ran Europe, Middle East, and Africa for a Johnson & Johnson company and traveled like a character in a Robert Ludlum book. He eventually landed in Silicon Valley, where like minds with wild ideas come to congregate around the creation of (nightmares and) dreams. Now he launches new medical technologies as a startup CEO, and devises devious devices for fictional characters who aim to change the world.

Tim grew up in the Midwest and Europe, earning a BA from Hanover College and then a MBA in Finance and a MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He now lives with his wife Elena and their two daughters in Northern California.
