SEALs of Honor: Chase by Dale Mayer was a book I knew I would love just from the cover of it.  These are the types of books I will pick up when I want a book that I can get lost in.  There is something about this genre of book, and I usually end up buying them so when I saw I could get this one to review I knew I had to get a copy.  I enjoyed everything about this author and her books.  I am so glad to have found her because I know have another author to read books by.  I loved this author’s style of writing and how she was able to get me interested right from the first page.  I would say that this book is predictable, but most books are for me at this point because I have read so many of them.  I also really enjoyed her characters, and I found that I was looking at them as if they were real people.  I know that if you love chick lit books and books that have military people in them than I know you will love this book as much as I do.

About The Book

Because You’re Mine by Colleen Coble

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from BookLook in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Because You’re Mine by Colleen Coble was a good book.  I always like books that Colleen has written, so I know I would enjoy this book but it wasn’t one of my favorites by her.  I did have a hard time staying interested in this story, and I think that has to do with the fact that I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the characters in this story.  I felt sorry for Alanna, but I didn’t really like her which makes it hard to stay interested in the book.  I just couldn’t stay interested in this story, so it is another one that once I post this review I know I will forget I ever read this book.  If you love Christian mystery books than I would for sure have you check this one out it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

About The Book

Alanna has been plagued by tragedy. So it should come as no surprise that in the beauty that surrounds Charleston, all is not as it seems.

When her husband is killed by a car bomb while their band is on tour in Charleston, Alanna doesn’t know where to turn. Her father-in-law is threatening to take custody of the baby she carries, but the one thing she knows for sure is that she can’t lose the last piece of Liam she has left.

Their manager offers her a marriage of convenience to gain her U.S. citizenship and allow her to escape her father-in-law’s control. It seems like the perfect solution . . . But her doubts begin almost as soon as she arrives at Barry’s family home, a decaying mansion surrounded by swamp.

To make matters worse, Liam’s best friend survived the car bomb. She’s never really liked Jesse, and now she can’t seem to get away from him. When he takes Liam’s place in their band, it’s almost more than she can bear.

But then things start happening. Things that could easily cost Alanna her life—or the life of her unborn child. Are they mere coincidences? Or is there something much more sinister at work?

Twilight at Blueberry Barren by Colleen Coble

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from BookLook in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Twilight at Blueberry Barren by Colleen Coble was a great book.  I don’t think I have ever read a book written by this author that I haven’t liked.  This is the third book in the series and the first one from this series that I have read.  You don’t read them in order to understand what is going on in this book but with that being said if it were up to me I would read them in order because I love all of her books so I know I will like the other books in this series.  I think these characters might be my favorite out of all of her books.  They seemed like the most life-like characters that I have read so far in her books.  I read this book in a couple of days because I didn’t want to put it down until I was finished with the book.  If you love Christian fiction books than I would for sure have you check out this book.

About The Book

USA TODAY Bestseller!

“I need you to keep these girls safe . . .”

Kate Mason has devoted herself to caring for her family’s blueberry barrens. But after her fields stop producing fruit, she’s forced to come up with alternative ways to make a living.

Renting out the small cottage on her property seems an obvious choice, but it won’t be enough. When entrepreneur Drake Newham shows up looking not only for a place to rent but also for a nanny for his two nieces, it’s almost too good to be true. And maybe it is—because Drake brings with him dangerous questions about who might be out to kill his family.

The more time Kate spends with Drake and the girls, the more difficult it becomes to hide her attraction to him. But a family crisis isn’t exactly the ideal time to pursue a romance.

Meanwhile, Kate learns that her uncle—in prison for murder—has escaped. Add to that a local stalker who won’t leave her alone, and Kate is looking over her shoulder at every turn. With threats swirling from multiple directions, she wonders if her blueberry fields will ever flourish again . . . or if this twilight is her last.

Set on the beautiful coast of Maine, Twilight at Blueberry Barrens brings together suspense, romance, and the hope that one day new life will come again.

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Harper Collins in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

A Wedding For Christmas by Lori Wilde was a sweet story. I have read several books by this author an she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors when it comes to romance novels. This book was slightly predictable for me, but at this point, it is rare that I can’t figure out what is going to happen when it comes to the genre of books that I have been reading for years. I was a huge fan of Ryder right from the start of the book, and I was sad when the book was over because I had to say goodbye to him. I also loved reading this book right now because it was such a sweet Christmas story and it is one that I know I will read again in the future because of how much I liked Ryder. This was a book I was able to read this book in a few days which I also loved If you love sweet Christmas stories than I am sure that you will enjoy this book like I did.

Fraying At The Edge by Cindy Woodsmall

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Fraying at the Edge by Cindy Woodsmall was such a fun twist to Amish fiction.  I have a huge fan of Amish fiction, and this book was such a fun twist on those types of books.  I loved that we got a look as to what it might be like if people were to switch places and live another person’s life.  This is the second book in the series, and I know that I am going to go back and read the first book because I have to find out what went on in that book.  From the first page right until the end of the book I didn’t want to put it down.  I loved everything about this story and the characters I literally can’t say anything bad about this author or this book.  If you love Amish fiction and are looking for a book that is a little bit different than the other books out there then I would tell you to pick this one up and check it out.

About The Book

“Family, community, faith, and love. These “quilt blocks” sewn together made Ariana’s beautiful life. When they are pulled to pieces, will anything familiar remain? The Old Order Amish life Ariana Brenneman loved vanished virtually overnight with the discovery that she was switched at birth twenty years ago. Now she’s immersed in the Englischer world, getting to know her mother, and under the authority of her biological father, an atheist intellectual with resolute plans to expand Ariana’s worldview. Only Quill Schlabach, a childhood friend living Englisch, can help steady Ariana’s tilting ground between the two worlds, but can she trust him after so many betrayals? At the same time, Skylar Nash is forced to choose rehab or spend several months with her true relatives, the large Brenneman family and their seemingly backward life–no electricity, no technology, no fun. What the young woman can’t leave behind is her addiction to illegal prescription drugs and deep emptiness from the belief that she doesn’t belong in either family. New ties are binding Ariana and Skylar to the lives they were meant to have. Can they pray for the wisdom and strength they’ll need to follow God’s threads into unexpected futures? Fraying at the Edge is the second novel in The Amish of Summer Grove series”–

About The Author

Cindy Woodsmall is a New York Times and CBA best-selling author who has written nineteen (and counting!) works of fiction and one of nonfiction. She and her dearest Old Order Amish friend, Miriam Flaud, coauthored the nonfiction, Plain Wisdom: An Invitation into an Amish Home and the Hearts of Two Women. Cindy’s been featured on ABC Nightline and the front page of the Wall Street Journal, and has worked with National Geographic on a documentary concerning Amish life. In June of 2013, the Wall Street Journal listed Cindy as one of the top three Amish fiction writers.

She is also a veteran homeschool mom who no longer holds that position. As her children progressed in age, her desire to write grew stronger. After working through reservations whether this desire was something she should pursue, she began her writing journey. Her husband was her staunchest supporter as she aimed for what seemed impossible.

She’s won Fiction Book of the Year, Reviewer’s Choice Awards, Inspirational Reader’s Choice Contest, as well as one of Crossings’ Best Books of the Year. She’s been a finalist for the prestigious Christy, Rita, and Carol Awards, Christian Book of the Year, and Christian Retailers Choice Awards.

Her real-life connections with Amish Mennonite and Old Order Amish families enrich her novels with authenticity. Though she didn’t realize it at the time, seeds were sown years ago that began preparing Cindy to write these books. At the age of ten, while living in the dairy country of Maryland, she became best friends with Luann, a Plain Mennonite girl. Luann, like all the females in her family, wore the prayer Kapp and cape dresses. Her parents didn’t allow television or radios, and many other modern conveniences were frowned upon. During the numerous times Luann came to Cindy’s house to spend the night, her rules came with her and the two were careful to obey them—afraid that if they didn’t, the adults would end their friendship. Although the rules were much easier to keep when they spent the night at Luann’s because her family didn’t own any of the forbidden items, both sets of parents were uncomfortable with the relationship and a small infraction of any kind would have been enough reason for the parents to end the relationship. While navigating around the adults’ disapproval and the obstacles in each other’s lifestyle, the two girls bonded in true friendship that lasted into their teen years, until Cindy’s family moved to another region of the US.

As an adult, Cindy became friends with a wonderful Old Order Amish family who opened their home to her. Although the two women, Miriam and Cindy, live seven hundred miles apart geographically, and a century apart by customs, when they come together they never lack for commonality, laughter, and dreams of what only God can accomplish through His children. Over the years Cindy has continued to make wonderful friendships with those inside the Amish and Mennonite communities—from the most conservative ones to the most liberal.

Cindy and her husband reside near the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains in their now empty nest.

Love Connection by Camilla Isley

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Love Connection by Camilla Isley was a great book. I really enjoy this author’s style of writing. I am usually not a huge fan of romantic comedies but I do love the ones that this author writes. I find myself smiling throughout most of the book. I always read books like this one when I need to take a break from other books that are super intense because they are just an easy read and they always leave me with a smile on my face. I was a huge fan of Gemma through most of the book but I fell in love with Mark during the first chapter. It is funny how you can fall in love with a character right from the start of the book. I also loved that this books looks at both of the choices that she could have made. That made this book so different for me because I can’t remember another book like this one. If you love romantic comedies I know you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Hi! I’m a writer of romantic comedy, cat’s lover, coffee addict, and shoes hoarder.
Besides writing, I love reading (surprise, surprise), cooking—and eating—especially pasta, going to the movies and obviously ordering a gigantic bowl of popcorn, and watching too much bad TV.
I understand that mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem as a part of other animals’ diet, and I don’t want to starve all those frog princes out there, but I could really live without them.
