About The Book

Title: Broken Little Melodies
Author: Jennifer Ann
Genre: Contemporary Rockstar Romance
Release Date: June 26, 2017

Star-crossed lovers…

Deep among the Jeffrey Pines of Lake Tahoe, Isabelle Martin and Roman Stone find comfort in each other at a summer camp for musically gifted teens where their love grows stronger every year. But they couldn’t be more different. She’s an orphan from the West Coast running with the wild crowd, and he’s a rich kid from New York hiding the scars of an abusive home. When their worlds finally collide, the future they planned comes crashing down around them and Belle is forced to cut Roman from her life without any explanation.

Five years later…

Roman’s on top of the world. His successful rock band is preparing for their first headlining tour, but when he unexpectedly runs into Belle, old feelings for her come rushing back, and his new found bravado fails him.

Belle has learned that some things in life have the power to break your spirit, and trying to forget Roman has made her bitter—she’s merely a waitress headlining a bar-band, and he’s had everything handed to him on a silver platter. Seeing him again makes her question whether time can mend a broken heart.

Their struggles brought them together, and their differences tore them apart, but now that they’re together again, can they repair the broken pieces and get a second chance at love?

Practicing Normal by Cara Sue Achterberg

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Providence Book Promotions in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Practicing Normal by Cara Sue Achterberg was a great book at first, but after I was about halfway through the book, I was super annoyed with most of the characters in the book.  I say that because I have very little patience for people when they act like Kate does.  I also couldn’t stand her husband Everett because he is just a straight up jerk and I also don’t like people or characters like him either.  I felt awful for JT & Jenna because going up in a situation like they did isn’t a good thing.  As you can tell the author did a great job of making you think that the characters are real people and I was able to get so wrapped up in the story that even though I was annoyed I didn’t want to stop reading it because I had to know how it all worked out.  I would love to read more books by this author in the future, and I think pretty much everyone would enjoy this book.

The houses in Pine Estates are beautiful McMansions filled with high-achieving parents, children on the fast track to top colleges, all of the comforts of modern living, and the best security systems money can buy. Welcome to normal upper-middle-class suburbia.

The Turners know in their hearts that they’re anything but normal. Jenna is a high-schooler dressed in black who is fascinated with breaking into her neighbors’ homes, security systems be damned. Everett genuinely believes he loves his wife . . . he just loves having a continuing stream of mistresses more. JT is a genius kid with Asperger’s who moves from one obsession to the next. And Kate tries to manage her family, manage her mother (who lives down the street), and avoid wondering why her life is passing her by.

And now everything is changing for them. Jenna suddenly finds herself in a boy-next-door romance she never could have predicted. Everett’s secrets are beginning to unravel on him. JT is getting his first taste of success at navigating the world. And Kate is facing truths about her husband, her mother, and her father that she might have preferred not to face.

Life on Pine Road has never been more challenging for the Turners. That’s what happens when you’re practicing normal.

Combining her trademark combination of wit, insight, and tremendous empathy for her characters, Cara Sue Achterberg has written a novel that is at once familiar and startlingly fresh.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Aurora Publicity in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand wasn’t my favorite book that I have read lately.  This is the second book in the “Twisted Hearts Love Story” series, and if I am honest, I didn’t like it as much as I did the first book.  If you missed my review of the first book, you could click here to check it out.  I didn’t feel like I could connect with this character which is strange because I did like Tick during the first book but it changed as I was reading this book.  Even with me saying that I still did enjoy this book for the most part and I am planning on reading the other books in this series as well.  I really love this author writing and her characters.  This book does have parts in it that may cause people who only read Christian romance to be uncomfortable, but it was nothing over the top.  If you are looking for a new series of romance books to read this summer, I would recommend this one to you.

About The Book

TICK

I don’t need much.
As the right-hand man to the mob boss,
I have everything I need.
Women, money, power.

I’ve seen too much,
Hurt too long to want anything more.

But when I hear the screams,
I go into overdrive,
Driven to help a woman in need.

What I didn’t realize is she was going to save me.

CYMA

There’s no “happily-ever-after.”
There’s only heartache and pain.
I learned that the hard way.

Now, I have one goal: protect my daughter.
But when the rugged and sexy man saves me,
All I want is to bolt.
After all, I’ve got enough to deal with right now.

But a chance encounter proves me wrong.
Can we find a way to find love in the middle of mayhem?

***This book can be read as a standalone. No need to read book 1 to follow the story.***

Bedlam by Autumn Sand

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Aurora Publicity in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Bedlam by Autumn Sand was a book that I sat down and read in a couple of hours because I didn’t want to put it down. I liked Anaya and Tony from the start of the book which always makes for a good book. There are things in this book that may trigger some people so if you are sensitive to rape and domestic violence I wouldn’t read this book. The author doesn’t go into a ton of details about those subjects, but they are there, so I want you to be aware of it. Not only did I read this book I also read the next book in the series on Saturday as well, and the review of that book will be up tomorrow morning so keep your eyes open for that review. This is the first book in the series, but you don’t have to read them in order, so if you don’t only want to read one, then you can just pick that one up and not have to worry about being lost. These types of books are my guilty pleasure books, and this one didn’t let me down in the least. If you are looking for a great romance novel to read this summer I would one hundred percent recommend this book to you.

About The Book

Anaya

The whole fairy-tale.
A forever love.
And I thought I found it.

What I really found was
Danger, corruption, and betrayal.

Then, I meet him,
The gorgeous, tall man with topaz eyes.
He sets my pulse on fire,
And changes everything.

But he’s hiding something.
Not letting me in.
As an interior designer,
It’s my job to spot the wrinkle,
The problem.

Now, I’m determined to fix it,
For both of us.

Tony

She’s everything I want,
And everything I can’t have.
The brown-eyed beauty lights up
My dark and grim life.

But I can’t fall for her,
Can’t let her know the truth.
My past will destroy her,
Destroy us.
Will the bedlam of the past ruin our future together?

Lola by Melissa Scrivner Love

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Blogging For Books in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Lola by Melissa Scrivner Love was a great book, but there are some things that would offend some people because of the content.  I am going to give you a few of the things that might offend you if you get easily offended.  There was a “sex” scene, but they didn’t get into a ton of detail when it came to this scene, but it was in there.  The book is about drug dealers so that may also offend people and there are also some parts where the language used might offend people as well.  Now that I have gotten that all out of the way I want to talk about this book and why I liked it as much as I did.  I love that the gang leader is a female.  I think it is great to make the leader a woman and it also made this book so different from anything else that I have read before.  None of the things I talked about during the first part of this review bothered me, in fact, I ended up liking this book that much more because it wasn’t as boring as some books can be when they don’t have anything “bad” in them.  If you love thriller type books than I think this book might be a good fit for you.

About The Book

The Crenshaw Six are a small but up-and-coming gang in South Central LA who have recently been drawn into an escalating war between rival drug cartels. To outsiders, the Crenshaw Six appear to be led by a man named Garcia . . . but what no one has figured out is that the gang’s real leader (and secret weapon) is Garcia’s girlfriend, a brilliant young woman named Lola.

Lola has mastered playing the role of submissive girlfriend, and in the man’s world she inhabits she is consistently underestimated. But in truth she is much, much smarter–and in many ways tougher and more ruthless–than any of the men around her, and as the gang is increasingly sucked into a world of high-stakes betrayal and brutal violence, her skills and leadership become their only hope of survival.

An astonishing debut crime thriller about an unforgettable woman who combines the genius and ferocity of Lisbeth Salander with the ruthless ambition of Walter White. Lola marks the debut of a hugely exciting new thriller writer, and of a singular, magnificent character unlike anyone else in fiction.

About The Author

MELISSA SCRIVNER LOVE was born to a police officer father and a court stenographer mother. After earning a master’s degree in English Literature from New York University, Melissa moved to Los Angeles, where she has lived for over a decade. During that time, she has written for several television shows, among them Life, CSI: Miami, and Person of Interest. She and her husband, a comedy writer and Los Angeles native, welcomed their daughter in 2014. Lola is her first novel.

Ava Moss by Joss Landry

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Ava Moss by Joss Landry was a good book, but it wasn’t one of my favorites.  These types of books are my guilty pleasure because for the most part, I won’t ever admit to reading most of them but they are great when I want a book that is just a happy go lucky book, and this one fits into the category for me.  I really did enjoy this author writing, and I would be open to reading other books by her in the future.  I  go annoyed by Ava throughout the book but in the end in I always found myself loving her again and again.  If you love reading Christian romance books because they don’t ever have any of the gross things in them I would recommend this book to you because it didn’t have anything in it that would make anyone uncomfortable.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun chick lit book to read this spring and summer I would recommend this book you.  If you have read it what do you think of it?

About The Book

In the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, during her rise through the entry-level program of a large conglomerate, Ava Moss encounters the salacious Scott Wallace. While Ava considers her boss inscrutable she realizes her heart must remain Scott-free and not fall prey to his charismatic prowess.

Quite by accident Ava overhears computer thieves plotting to steal the firm’s investment clients and seize their information. Worried Scott will not believe her story Ava enlists the help of coworkers to catch the culprits. When Scott learns about the attempted fraud, he is angrier with Ava for not having confided in him than in any potential swindle.

Ava, heartbroken by Scott’s silence and what she considers his lack of gratitude, attempts to move on to avoid the bleak consequences of unrequited love.

About The Author
