The Fury by Shane Gericke

TLC Book Tours

The Fury by Shane Gericke was an amazing book.  If I am being honest I only picked this book because it was a thriller so I went in more blind than I usually do when it comes to books that I review.  I am so glad that I decided to review this book because I loved everything about it.  As most of you know I love thrillers and this book didn’t let me down.  It kept me reading right up until the end because I had to know what happened and how it ended.  I loved all the characters in this book and the setting was also something that I really enjoyed.  This was one of those books that once you get to the end of it you can’t stop thinking about it and I usually have to take a day off between books because I can’t stop thinking about the book I just finished.  If you love thriller books I would add this one to your must read list and trust me you won’t regret it.

The Fury by Shane Gericke

About The Book

The Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico washes a cache of doomsday weapons onto a Mexican beach: bombs filled with VX nerve gas mixed with anthrax, invented by the Nazis during World War II and perfected by the United States to use in the Cold War. The bombs soon fall into the wrong hands and create an unstoppable opponent. Only one Chicago Police detective has a chance of preventing those bombs from being used on American soil.

Reeling from the recent murder of her husband as well as allegations of police misconduct, Detective Superstition “Sue” Davis is thrown into an undercover assignment. She must infiltrate the Mexican narcotics cartel responsible for the death of her husband in order to get close to the cartel’s sociopathic enforcer, Jiminez “Jimmy” Garcia.

But when the entire Garcia family is killed in Mexico by a U.S. Special Forces raid gone wrong, Garcia will stop at nothing to get vengeance, including triggering newly acquired bombs on American soil. Superstition’s assignment quickly becomes more dangerous than planned as the threat of a terrorist attack looms closer.

Purified by Elizabeth S. Sullivan was a great book and reminded me that this is my favorite genre of  books to read.  From the minute I started reading this book I didn’t want to put it down.  I had to keep reading because I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading.  I love books like this because I want to keep reading even if my head is hurting.  I get through this books so quick because of the fact that I have been known to stay up all night because I can’t put the book down and stop reading it.  If you love thriller books I would recommend this book to you for sure because it won’t let down.

The Ones We Trust by Kimberly Belle

TLC Book Tours

The Ones We Trust by Kimberly Belle was a great book.  Once I started reading I didn’t want to put the  book down.  I reminded me of books by one of my favorite authors so I know that was a big part of it for me.  I love mystery books and this book didn’t let me down.  I liked this one because I didn’t figure out the story after I was a few chapters in.  With a lot of mystery books I tend to figure out who did it and I didn’t do that with this  book so that made it interesting and kept me reading until the end of the book.  If you love mystery books than I would recommend this book to you because it is so well written and I felt like I could relate to the characters.

The Ones We Trust by Kimberly Belle

About The Book

Paperback: 304 pages

Publisher: Mira (July 28, 2015)

When former DC journalist Abigail Wolff attempts to rehabilitate her career, she finds herself at the heart of a US army cover-up involving the death of a soldier in Afghanistan—with unspeakable emotional consequences for one family. As the story of what happened comes to light, Abigail will do anything to write it.

The more evidence she stumbles upon in the case, the fewer people it seems she can trust, including her own father, a retired army general. And she certainly never expected to fall in love with the slain soldier’s brother, Gabe, a bitter man struggling to hold his family together. The investigation eventually leads her to an impossible choice, one of unrelenting sacrifice to protect those she loves.

Beyond the buried truths and betrayals, questions of family loyalty and redemption, Abigail’s search is, most of all, a desperate grasp at carrying on and coping—and seeking hope in the impossible.

The Lemoncholy Life Of Annie Aster by Scott Wilbanks

Book Review

The Lemoncholy Life Of Annie Aster by Scott Wilbanks was a unique story.  When I started this book I knew it was either going to be a great book or a book that I didn’t like at all.  It has such a unique storyline and because of that I ended up loving this story.  I can’t even say what made me fall in love but I did and I can’t wait to check out other  books by this author.  I loved Elsbeth because parts of her personality reminded me of my grandma who is my best friend.  I love when I find “crazy” old women in my books because I always think of my grandma and smile.  Anyway I love reading what was happening and I had to finish the book super quick because I had to know how it ended.  I have always wondered if things like this do happen because it could be something that I would see happening.  If you love different books that don’t follow any set patterns than you need to read this book.  If you are tired of every book you read following the same type of pattern than I know you will love this book.  Heck if are looking for something different to read than for sure check this book out!

The Lemoncholy Life Of Annie Aster by Scott Wilbanks

About The Book

Annabelle Aster has discovered a curious thing behind her home in San Francisco–a letterbox perched atop a picket fence.  The note inside is blunt—trespass is dealt with at the business end of a shotgun in these parts!—spurring some lively correspondence between the Bay Area orphan and her new neighbor, a feisty widow living in nineteenth-century Kansas.

The source of mischief is an antique door Annie installed at the rear of her house.  The man who made the door—a famed Victorian illusionist—died under mysterious circumstances.

Annie and her new neighbor, with the help of friends and strangers alike, must solve the mystery of what connects them before one of them is convicted of a murder that has yet to happen…and somehow already did.

Dying Brand by Wendy Tyson

dying brand button

Dying Brand by Wendy Tyson was a book I wasn’t sure I was going to like but I ended up reading it in one afternoon and loving everything about it.  I have read one other book by this author but to be honest I don’t really remember that book.  This is the third book in the series but you don’t have to read the other books to understand this one but some of the smaller plot lines might be easier understood if you had read the other two books before this one but you don’t have to read them first.  Anyway let’s get on to the review of this book.  As I said before I loved this book but there were spots that could have been cut out because they just slowed the story down but all in all I loved the story.  I was a huge fan of the characters and the author writing.  She made me feel as if I was there with the characters and I could understand the choices they made even if I didn’t agree with them.  Allison at times did get on my nerves but that usually happens when the main character is female.  This book made me want to go back and read the other two books in this series.  If you love mystery books than I would for sure recommend this book to you.

Bum Rap by Paul Levine

Book Review

Bum Rap by Paul Levine took me back to the types of books I have loved for years and gave me a new author to add to my list.  I loved the author’s writing and the setting of this book.  I loved all the characters and their backstories as well.  This is the first book I have read by this author but I am so glad that I found him because I can’t wait to check out other book that he has written.  Steve wasn’t my favorite character because of how he acted.  I loved Jake & Victoria from the start of the book.  I loved the setting and I didn’t want to put the book down because it hooked me.  This is the genre that I love so I had high expectations for this book and this book lived up to all of them and surpassed most of them.  If you love thrillers than I would for sure recommend this book to you.

Bum Rap by Paul Levine

About The Book

Publisher: Thomas & Mercer (July 1, 2015)

NFL linebacker-turned-lawyer Jake Lassiter has had it with shifty clients, dirty prosecutors, and a legal system out of whack. It’s enough to make a man want to leave Miami and never look back—until he gets a call from Victoria Lord, the better half of hot local legal team Solomon & Lord. Her partner in life and law has been arrested for murder. What’s worse: the only person who can clear him has fled the city. Now it’s up to Jake and Victoria to track down the witness—a stunning “Bar girl”—before she’s roped in by the feds…or eliminated by the Russian mob.

Jake knows that if he doesn’t get to the witness first, his client’s case is lost. Luckily, he’s got some good advice from his college football coach: “Buckle your chin strap and hit somebody.” And sometimes, the only way to win a tough case is to do just that.
