His Guilt by Shelley Shepard Gray was a good book.  I know I have said how much I love this author writing and this book was no different for me.  I love all of her Amish fiction books, so I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy this book, and I really did enjoy it.  I feel like I am always saying the same things when I review her books because I actually enjoy reading them.  I loved the characters in this book because even though they are Amish, I still feel like I am able to relate to the characters in this book.  These characters might be my favorites, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.  If you love Amish fiction like I do and are looking for a good series, I would for sure recommend this book to you.

About The Book

A suspenseful tale of an Amish man who will risk all to protect the woman he loves.

Mark Fisher has returned home to Hart County, determined to put the past behind him. Two years ago, after being wrongly accused of assault, he left the Amish community, though never forgot his home. When the one person who had helped him through his rough times asks for help, Mark returns. But it is pretty Waneta Cain who makes him want to stay…
Neeta is one of the few people in Hart County who doesn’t believe Mark is guilty of hurting anyone. However, his worldliness and tough exterior do make her uneasy. As she begins to see the real man behind all the gossip and prejudice, she wonders if he is the man for her.

Just when Mark starts to believe a new life is possible, a close friend of Neeta’s is attacked. Once again, everyone in the community seems to believe he is guilty. But what hurts most is Neeta’s sudden wariness around him. When another woman is hurt, a woman who is close to both Neeta and himself, Mark fears he knows the real culprit. And time is running out. Will Mark be able to find him before Neeta becomes his next victim?

Stray by Joni Johnson

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Stray by Joni Johnson was a good book, but I did notice several things in this book that bothered me. This biggest thing that bugged me was that she spelled Vance’s last name two different ways and she does that throughout the entire book. On one page it will be spelled as Larson, and on the next page, it will be spelled, Larsen.   I also did find a few places where a word was misspelled as well. Even saying all of that I really did like this book and I was sad when I was finished with the book because I fell in love with Lila and Vance. This book is in a genre that I don’t usually read because I usually can’t get interested in them but this book was different. I really enjoyed this author writing and her characters. If you love YA books or are looking for something fun to read this summer, I would for sure recommend this book to you. This book would also be perfect for teenagers, and it is one that I think most teens would relate too.

About The Book

Lila Baxter, 17, is abandoned at a gas station in a small town when her father, who was taking her to live with her grandmother, had a lapse in sobriety. Lila is left alone, unsure of where she is, with no money, and no cell phone. Gas station cashier Vance Larson, 18, offers to help the unwanted girl. And how does Lila repay him? By unwittingly unhinging Vance’s whole life. Fixing the trouble, she’s caused is next to impossible. And will any of it matter when her father returns?

About The Author

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada to two wonderful parents along with ten other amazing people.  I attended three years of college in Utah before deciding to serve a mission for my church which took me to Florida.  After my return eighteen months later, I married my wonderful and intelligent husband.  And now ump-teen years later my husband and I have four bright and beautiful children, we have converted our public school lives to homeschool lives, and have uprooted from Vegas for my husband’s (mind-boggling, confusing, and I don’t understand computers a bit) work to Idaho.  And there you have it; my life in synopsis.  Sorry, I don’t know the ending yet, but that will come much, much later.

Practicing Normal by Cara Sue Achterberg

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Providence Book Promotions in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Practicing Normal by Cara Sue Achterberg was a great book at first, but after I was about halfway through the book, I was super annoyed with most of the characters in the book.  I say that because I have very little patience for people when they act like Kate does.  I also couldn’t stand her husband Everett because he is just a straight up jerk and I also don’t like people or characters like him either.  I felt awful for JT & Jenna because going up in a situation like they did isn’t a good thing.  As you can tell the author did a great job of making you think that the characters are real people and I was able to get so wrapped up in the story that even though I was annoyed I didn’t want to stop reading it because I had to know how it all worked out.  I would love to read more books by this author in the future, and I think pretty much everyone would enjoy this book.

The houses in Pine Estates are beautiful McMansions filled with high-achieving parents, children on the fast track to top colleges, all of the comforts of modern living, and the best security systems money can buy. Welcome to normal upper-middle-class suburbia.

The Turners know in their hearts that they’re anything but normal. Jenna is a high-schooler dressed in black who is fascinated with breaking into her neighbors’ homes, security systems be damned. Everett genuinely believes he loves his wife . . . he just loves having a continuing stream of mistresses more. JT is a genius kid with Asperger’s who moves from one obsession to the next. And Kate tries to manage her family, manage her mother (who lives down the street), and avoid wondering why her life is passing her by.

And now everything is changing for them. Jenna suddenly finds herself in a boy-next-door romance she never could have predicted. Everett’s secrets are beginning to unravel on him. JT is getting his first taste of success at navigating the world. And Kate is facing truths about her husband, her mother, and her father that she might have preferred not to face.

Life on Pine Road has never been more challenging for the Turners. That’s what happens when you’re practicing normal.

Combining her trademark combination of wit, insight, and tremendous empathy for her characters, Cara Sue Achterberg has written a novel that is at once familiar and startlingly fresh.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Aurora Publicity in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Mayhem by Autumn Sand wasn’t my favorite book that I have read lately.  This is the second book in the “Twisted Hearts Love Story” series, and if I am honest, I didn’t like it as much as I did the first book.  If you missed my review of the first book, you could click here to check it out.  I didn’t feel like I could connect with this character which is strange because I did like Tick during the first book but it changed as I was reading this book.  Even with me saying that I still did enjoy this book for the most part and I am planning on reading the other books in this series as well.  I really love this author writing and her characters.  This book does have parts in it that may cause people who only read Christian romance to be uncomfortable, but it was nothing over the top.  If you are looking for a new series of romance books to read this summer, I would recommend this one to you.

About The Book

TICK

I don’t need much.
As the right-hand man to the mob boss,
I have everything I need.
Women, money, power.

I’ve seen too much,
Hurt too long to want anything more.

But when I hear the screams,
I go into overdrive,
Driven to help a woman in need.

What I didn’t realize is she was going to save me.

CYMA

There’s no “happily-ever-after.”
There’s only heartache and pain.
I learned that the hard way.

Now, I have one goal: protect my daughter.
But when the rugged and sexy man saves me,
All I want is to bolt.
After all, I’ve got enough to deal with right now.

But a chance encounter proves me wrong.
Can we find a way to find love in the middle of mayhem?

***This book can be read as a standalone. No need to read book 1 to follow the story.***

Bedlam by Autumn Sand

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Aurora Publicity in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Bedlam by Autumn Sand was a book that I sat down and read in a couple of hours because I didn’t want to put it down. I liked Anaya and Tony from the start of the book which always makes for a good book. There are things in this book that may trigger some people so if you are sensitive to rape and domestic violence I wouldn’t read this book. The author doesn’t go into a ton of details about those subjects, but they are there, so I want you to be aware of it. Not only did I read this book I also read the next book in the series on Saturday as well, and the review of that book will be up tomorrow morning so keep your eyes open for that review. This is the first book in the series, but you don’t have to read them in order, so if you don’t only want to read one, then you can just pick that one up and not have to worry about being lost. These types of books are my guilty pleasure books, and this one didn’t let me down in the least. If you are looking for a great romance novel to read this summer I would one hundred percent recommend this book to you.

About The Book

Anaya

The whole fairy-tale.
A forever love.
And I thought I found it.

What I really found was
Danger, corruption, and betrayal.

Then, I meet him,
The gorgeous, tall man with topaz eyes.
He sets my pulse on fire,
And changes everything.

But he’s hiding something.
Not letting me in.
As an interior designer,
It’s my job to spot the wrinkle,
The problem.

Now, I’m determined to fix it,
For both of us.

Tony

She’s everything I want,
And everything I can’t have.
The brown-eyed beauty lights up
My dark and grim life.

But I can’t fall for her,
Can’t let her know the truth.
My past will destroy her,
Destroy us.
Will the bedlam of the past ruin our future together?
