Guessing At Normal by Gail Ward Olmsted was an excellent book.  This author found me through Goodreads, and I am so glad that she did.  I will be reviewing another book by her next Wednesday, and because I loved this book as much as I did, I can’t wait to read that book and see how I like it.  I loved this book because I loved how the characters seemed like they are real people because that makes me get into the book even more. I was sad when this book ended because I loved the characters in this book. I also was a huge of how this story was told and how the author was able to make me feel like I was there with the characters. If you are looking for a good chick lit book to read, I would recommend this one to you. Also, keep your eyes open next week because I will be reviewing another book by this author

Guessing At Normal by Gail Ward Olmsted

About The Book

Jill Griffin has mastered the art of being invisible, so when she falls in love with sexy rocker James Sheridan, at first she is content to live in his larger than life shadow. Building a ‘normal’ life together under the glare of the media is challenging and further complicated by constant touring, James’ partying and the mixed signals she gets from James’ twin brother Alex.

When her poems and journal ramblings become the songs on James’ best-selling album, Jill has to step out of her comfort zone and figure out how to live her life in a spotlight all her own. With no road map to follow, she struggles to navigate her way in her search for happiness. As her professional success threatens her relationship with James, Jill questions whether she can make a living writing love songs without the love of her life.

Back In The Saddle by Ruth Logan Herne was an excellent book to read.  This is the first book I have read by this author, and I am so glad that I read this book because I now have another great author that I can add to my list of great authors that I want to read in the future.  I like all the characters in this book right from the start.  I did spend most of the book hoping that Colt wouldn’t leave after the market recovered and what not.  After I finished this book, I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out.  I fell in love with the entire cast of people in this book, and I can’t wait to catch up with them in the next book but also to find out more about the other characters.  If you love chick lit, I know you will love this book, and it is also one that I will be keeping in my collection of books.

Waking Amy by Julieann Dove

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I received no other compensation for this review.  All opinions expressed in this review are mine.

Waking Amy by Julieann Dove was a book I was excited to read because I saw it all over the place and I had to know what all the hype was about.  That being said it was a good book, but I couldn’t figure out what all the hype was about.  It isn’t the best book I have read lately, but it was one that I will give four stars too.   For some reason, I just couldn’t get into the story and at times the book seemed to go super slow. I liked Amy because I could see a lot of myself in her, so I know how she was feeling.  I wasn’t a super big fan of Mark because he seemed to be the type of guy that just likes to play women and I don’t like that.  All in all, it was an okay book just not the right fit for me.  If you like chick lit then I would check this one out because I know most people who like chick lit would love this book.

The Secret Life of Charlotte Dodd by Holly Kerr

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from CLP in exchange for my honest review.  I received no other compensation for this review.  All opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent my own thoughts and opinions.

The Secret Life of Charlotte Dodd by Holly Kerr was and interesting book.  When I first started it I was super confused and wondered if this was part of a series.  After I looked into it I couldn’t see that it was so I just stuck with it and once I got to chapter 7 I had figured out enough that I wanted to keep reading the book.  Once I was into the book I didn’t want to stop reading it because it was a fast moving book and I loved the whole concept of the book.  This was a super easy book to read and it went super fast for me as well.  I found the concept of this book pretty unique which I also enjoyed because books tend to be pretty similar and I love when I find a book that isn’t like other books.  If you love mystery books I would recommend this book to you.  I also say give it a little bit of time to get into it and for it to start to make sense before you give up on it because I am glad that I gave it the time.

Charlotte Dodd is having a very bad day.

After taking an experimental drug to erase her memories of saving the world (or at least the country – several times) Charlotte is given a new life – a quiet, unassuming job, a second chance at love with Luke, and no one trying to kill her.

Two years later and with no recollection of saving the world, she steps in to help a random stranger and is amazed at the ease in which she dispatches her opponents using a rolled-up magazine. But how is that possible? She has Buffy-like fight moves, fires a gun with deadly accuracy and can use the air from car tires to keep breathing underwater.

When she meets Ham – why is he so familiar? The flashes, the déjà vu, the dreams – they’re not really dreams? Blowing up a building in Mexico, being buried alive – those things really happened to her? And what is her brother doing flying a plane? Turns out those two years of quiet with Luke was really an undercover mission to help bring down a secret organization targeting her family.

Charlotte needs to remember her secret life if she wants to save the world again and the only man she’s ever loved.

Breaking The Story by Ashley Farley

Breaking The Story by Ashley Farley was an excellent book.  I reviewed the first book, and if you missed that review, you could click here to read it and find out more about it.  You don’t have to read the first book if you don’t want to understand this book, but if you want to read them both, I would suggest reading them in order.  You can read this book alone and be able to understand everything that is going on.  I love this author writing and how she can make me completely understand why the characters do what they do and why they make the choices that they do.  This book was an easy read and I loved that because there are times where I love reading books that you don’t really have to pay close attention to the details and not get lost or confused.  I would recommend this book to anyone who loves books that combine both romance and mystery in the same book.

A Jingle Valley Wedding by Martha Reynolds

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I received no other compensation for this review and all opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine.

A Jingle Valley Wedding by Martha Reynolds was an okay book.  I enjoyed this book but at times I thought things were rushed and at other times I felt like they could have cut out other parts of the story. Even with that being said though I still truly enjoyed this author’s style of writing.   I really enjoyed all the characters in this book. I wasn’t a huge fan of Thomas throughout most of the book but I figured from the start that I wouldn’t really like him. I think Julie was my favorite character because I love when books have strong females as the main characters. I haven’t heard of this author before and I love when I find new authors to read because I am always on the lookout for new authors to add too my list of authors I want to read more of their work. If you love chick lit than I would for sure recommend this book to you. I think it is a book that is pretty universal and something that most people would enjoy to read.
