Beyond Justice by Cara Putman was an okay mystery book. I love mystery books but I tend to get bored with ones that are written by Christian authors because they just stay on the surface and they don’t usually include anything that is super gross in them. Since this genre is my favorite I tend to like the books that have tons of details and go in deep when they are describing things. Like I said before I liked this book but I got bored because of how it was written which I am sure makes me in the minority. With that being said if you love mystery books and hate the ones that have tons of details in them you will love this book. I also like to pick up books like this when I have been reading a ton of super heavy books because it is nice to read books that a book that doesn’t go so deep from time to time.

An honors graduate of the University of Nebraska, George Mason University School of Law, and Krannert School of Management, Cara left small town Nebraska and headed to Washington, D.C., to launch her career in public policy.

A Fragile Hope by Cynthia Ruchti was an interesting book, to say the least. I had a hard time getting into the book, but once I reached chapter four, I didn’t want to put the book down. I was so glad that I didn’t give up on the book because once things started to happen in the book, I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down. I also didn’t like Josiah in the first few chapters because I thought he was a jerk and should have paid more attention to his wife. After I was to chapter four though I started to feel bad for him because yes he was disconnected from his wife, I couldn’t help but feel sad because his wife seemed to have been lying to him as well. This book kept me guessing because you aren’t sure what is going on throughout the entire book. It was a book that kept me guessing because just when I thought I figured out what was going on, I soon found out that I was wrong and I love books that do that. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery books. I say that because it is rare that I find books that keep me guessing because I have gotten pretty good at figuring out what is going on. I also wanted to add that I haven’t read a book by this author that I haven’t liked, so she is one that I think most people enjoy the books that she has written.

June by Miranda Beverly-Whittemore was a weird book, and I still am not sure if that is a good thing or not. There are parts of the book where the house is talking, and that threw my off throughout the entire book. I am sure that was because this is the first book I have read where the house is a big part of the story. I didn’t like Lindie right from the start because she seemed like a person that if they were alive, I wouldn’t get along with because they just get on my nerves. I always have to smile when I end up hating a character because it means that the author did a great job of making me feel like the characters and alive and real people. I did find myself just scanning some of the pages because I felt like there were way too many details and unneeded information in this book. I liked how they went between current times and the 1950’s because it gave me a better idea of what the characters were actually feeling. In the end, I did like most of the book, but there are parts I think they could have left out or cut down.

A Fine Year for Murder by Lauren Carr was an okay book. I don’t think I have ever mentioned in any of the reviews that I have written about Lauren Carr’s books but I love that she puts a list of characters at the start of the book so that if you haven’t read other books by her you will still know how each of the characters are related. I also loved that in this book I got to see a little bit of Gnarly because he is my favorite character in every one of the books that he shows up in. This wasn’t my favorite book that she has written, but it wasn’t so bad that it would make me not want to read the next book that she writes. If you love mystery books that aren’t over graphic and that are pretty fast paced than I would recommend any of her books to you. The Cutaway by Christina Kovac was a good book. I knew that I was probably going to enjoy this book because let’s be honest this is the typical book that I love. It took me about a chapter to get into the book because it was a slower start for me. I liked the characters in this book, and I loved that the characters aren’t the typical characters that you see in books within this genre. I found that because the characters are the usual characters that you see that I was more engaged because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending but when you read as many books as I do that happens from time to time. If you love mystery books and are looking for something different within the genre, then I think you should check this book out. If you have read it what did you think of it?

The Ashes by Vincent Zandri was different from anything that I have read lately. I read this book from cover to cover in two days because I didn’t want to put it down. Once I started reading it, I just kept on reading it because I wanted to know what was going to happen. I spent a good part of this book trying to figure out if “Skinner” was a real person or if he was some creature. I am not going to say what I found out because I don’t want to ruin the book for anyone. I enjoyed this book the entire time, and it is one that I know I will read again in the future. This is also the second book in the series, and I am for sure going to go back and read the first book because I am hooked. If you love horror books, I would for sure recommend this book to you because I am not usually into horror books and this one made me want to check out more books in this genre.
