The Mentor by Lee Matthew Goldberg was one of the best books I have read in a while.  I am not sure what made me like this book as much as I did but it was one that I didn’t want to put down even when I was at work during the day.  One of the people I work with commented that it has been quite a while since I had been into a book like I was with this one.  I loved just about everything in this book.  This is the first book I have read by this author, and I can’t wait to read more by him in the future because his book hooked me right from the start and I kept reading until the book was done.  This book kept me on the edge of my seat during the entire book.  I didn’t want to put the book down to while I was at work and I was able to read this book in just a few days because all I wanted to do was read the book.  If you love thriller type books, I know you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

About The Book

Title: THE MENTOR
Author: Lee Matthew Goldberg
Publisher: Thomas Dunne Books / St. Martin’s Press
Pages: 336
Genre: Thriller / Suspense / Mystery

Kyle Broder has achieved his lifelong dream and is an editor at a major publishing house.

When Kyle is contacted by his favorite college professor, William Lansing, Kyle couldn’t be happier. Kyle has his mentor over for dinner to catch up and introduce him to his girlfriend, Jamie, and the three have a great time. When William mentions that he’s been writing a novel, Kyle is overjoyed. He would love to read the opus his mentor has toiled over.

Until the novel turns out to be not only horribly written but the most depraved story Kyle has read.

After Kyle politely rejects the novel, William becomes obsessed, causing trouble between Kyle and Jamie, threatening Kyle’s career, and even his life. As Kyle delves into more of this psychopath’s work, it begins to resemble a cold case from his college town, when a girl went missing. William’s work is looking increasingly like a true crime confession.

Lee Matthew Goldberg’s The Mentor is a twisty, nail-biting thriller that explores how the love of words can lead to a deadly obsession with the fate of all those connected and hanging in the balance.

Boardwalk Summer by Kimberly Fisk

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Boardwalk Summer by Kimberly Fisk was a good book but very predictable. Even with that being said I really did enjoy this book and I would love to read more books by this author.  I really enjoyed her writing and her characters throughout the book.  I really liked Nick, and I am sure that is why I ended up like this book as much as I did.  I have never liked a character so much that I would consider him my “book boyfriend, ” but he is that character for me.  I loved reading this book during the summer, and I am sure that most people would as well.  If you are looking for a new chick-lit book to read this summer then I would recommend this book to you.

About The Book

In the town of Tranquility Bay, summer is the season of second chances…
Single mother Hope Thompson has built a happy life for herself and her twins in beautiful Tranquility Bay, Washington. She doesn t dwell on her painful past especially not on the man who broke her heart all those years ago. But when Hope s beloved son needs help, she takes a desperate chance and reaches out to her children s father.
Nick Fortune lives life in the spotlight as a champion race car driver. He s shocked to hear from Hope and even more surprised to learn that he s a father. He immediately heads to the Pacific Northwest to confront the past and the woman he once loved.
There, on the quiet lakeshore, Nick and Hope must work together to save their son even if it means facing their complicated past for a second chance as a family.”

About The Author

In the third grade, my teacher encouraged me to enter a school wide writing contest. Horse crazy even back then, no one was surprised when my story featured a four-legged hero. But everyone was surprised when my story won. The prize? A trip to Seattle to attend the Young Author’s Convention. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. The dress my mom made me for the big day…the ferryboat ride…meeting my first published author (Stephen Cosgrove just in case you were wondering). And my shoes. New shoes. Shoes with heels! (All of a 1/4 of an inch but, hey, a girl has to start somewhere).

The writing bug bit and bit hard. But real life intruded on my fictional world. Marriage, motherhood and a demanding job derailed me for a few years but then something wonderful happened. Actually, several pretty wonderful things. After the birth of our youngest son, I decided to leave my job. One day while I was busy chasing toddlers and changing diapers, my husband handed me an article from our hometown paper highlighting the local Romance Writers of America chapter. A whole world of writers and readers? Heaven. But the wonderfulness didn’t stop there. Soon after joining RWA, I met the amazing and incredibly talented Kristin Hannah who was looking for an assistant. Somehow I landed this dream job. With Kristin’s generous guidance and the support of the world’s best critique group, it took me a few years to finish my first novel. (Okay, six, but who’s counting.) It then took the prodding of my amazingly supportive friends to convince me to enter RWA’s Golden Heart contest. When they announced that I had won, I wish I could say I was speechless. Surprised? Yes! Shocked? Yes! Yes!! But speechless? How I wish. No. I cried. Like a baby.

While that manuscript didn’t immediately find a publisher, it did land me the world’s best agency. And my second book, Lake Magic, found the perfect home.

Besides spending time with family, ignoring my messy house and writing, I love reading, having exercised, having weeded, and having figured out what’s for dinner.

Deadly Spirits by E. Michael Helms

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Deadly Spirits by E. Michael Helms was a book I didn’t think I would like, but in the end, I loved the book and the authors writing. I read a ton of books in this genre, so I always go in thinking that I am not going to like the books, but this one surprised me, to say the least.  I loved that this book brought in ghosts and things like that because it gave the book something different that I haven’t seen before.  I was a huge fan of Mac right from the start, so I am going to go back and read the other books in this series because I really enjoyed this book and the characters.  This book was one that I know I will read again, and I know I will be picking up rest of the books because this is a great series.  If you are looking for a different type of mystery book to read this summer, then I think you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

About The Book

When PI Mac McClellan’s girlfriend convinces him to join the Palmetto Paranormal Society, he becomes embroiled in a case of whooodunnit. The society president, while investigating an old hotel, is found dead at the foot of the stairwell, his neck broken. The man’s secretary and current squeeze stands horrified beside his body. Authorities rule the death an accident. Mac has doubts—no one heard the man tumbling down the stairs. Then the secretary dies in an apparent suicide. Two deaths in two paranormal investigations, and not a peep out of either victim. Mac suspects there’s more going on than a vengeful spirit.
Book 4 in the Mac McClellan Mystery series, which began with Deadly Catch.

About The Author

I was born in Georgia way back in the last century but grew up and lived most of my life in Panama City, Florida. In 2004 my wife and I moved to the Upstate region of South Carolina in the shadows of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, a land of stunning vistas and numerous waterfalls.

I’ve been traditionally published since 1990 when my Vietnam War memoir, The Proud Bastards, was published. It’s about my time as a combat U.S. Marine in 1967-68. It’s still in print after all these years, currently with Simon & Schuster/Pocket. I’ve since written a few novels in different genres. I’m currently writing the Mac McClellan Mystery series which is set along the coast of the Florida Panhandle where I grew up.

Miracle Man by William R. Leibowitz

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Miracle Man by William R Leibowitz was different from anything that I have read in years. I say that because this isn’t a book, I would usually read but I was intrigued when I read about this book and I figured I would give this book a shot, and I am glad that I did because I did enjoy this book and this authors style of writing. I did worry that it would be so involved and that it would go over my head but in the end, I had no problem understand the book and getting into the story. At times I felt bad for Robert because I am sure he had to have been lonely because of his intelligence and I was left just feeling sorry for him. Like I said before I did enjoy this book and I would recommend to anyone who is looking for something different to read this summer.

About The Book

Title: MIRACLE MAN
Author: William Leibowitz
Publisher: Manifesto Media Group

REVERED     REVILED      REMARKABLE

The victim of an unspeakable crime, an infant, rises to become a new type of superhero.  Unlike any that have come before him, he is not a fanciful creation of animators, he is real.

So begins the saga of Robert James Austin, the greatest genius in human history.  But where did his extraordinary intelligence come from?

As agents of corporate greed vie with rabid anti-Western radicals to destroy him, an obsessive government leader launches a bizarre covert mission to exploit his intellect.  Yet Austin’s greatest fear is not of this world.

Aided by two exceptional women, one of whom will become his unlikely lover, Austin struggles against abandonment and betrayal.  But the forces that oppose him are more powerful than even he can understand.

Miracle Man was named by Amazon as one of the Top 100 Novels of 2015, an Amazon Top 10 thriller, an Amazon bestseller and an Amazon NY Times bestseller.

About The Author

William Leibowitz has been practicing entertainment/media law in New York City for a number of years.  He has represented numerous renowned creative people and many leading intellectual property companies.  William has a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a law degree from Columbia University.  He lives in the village of Quogue, New York with his wife, Alexandria, and dog, George.

William wrote Miracle Man because of its humanistic and spiritual messages and because he feels that in our current times–when meritless celebrity has eclipsed accomplishment and the only heroes are those based on comic books, the world needs a real hero–and that, of course, is Robert James Austin, the protagonist in Miracle Man.

Ava Moss by Joss Landry

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Ava Moss by Joss Landry was a good book, but it wasn’t one of my favorites.  These types of books are my guilty pleasure because for the most part, I won’t ever admit to reading most of them but they are great when I want a book that is just a happy go lucky book, and this one fits into the category for me.  I really did enjoy this author writing, and I would be open to reading other books by her in the future.  I  go annoyed by Ava throughout the book but in the end in I always found myself loving her again and again.  If you love reading Christian romance books because they don’t ever have any of the gross things in them I would recommend this book to you because it didn’t have anything in it that would make anyone uncomfortable.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun chick lit book to read this spring and summer I would recommend this book you.  If you have read it what do you think of it?

About The Book

In the heart of Manhattan’s financial district, during her rise through the entry-level program of a large conglomerate, Ava Moss encounters the salacious Scott Wallace. Quite by accident Ava overhears computer thieves plotting to steal the firm’s investment clients and seize their information. Worried Scott will not believe her story Ava enlists the help of coworkers to catch the culprits. When Scott learns about the attempted fraud, he is angrier with Ava for not having confided in him than in any potential swindle.

Ava, heartbroken by Scott’s silence and what she considers his lack of gratitude, attempts to move on to avoid the bleak consequences of unrequited love.

Wooing The Wedding Planner by Amber Leigh Williams was a fun book to read. As with most of the books I find that these types of books predictable but most of the time I really enjoy these books because they are my guilty pleasure when it comes to reading them. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and I can’t wait to read other books by her because I really enjoyed her writing and her characters. I really liked Bryon right from the start because he seemed like someone who is alive and someone I would get along with. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Roxie, and I am not sure why that was. I really enjoyed the setting of this book and I was sad when it was done because I hate having to say goodbye to characters that I really enjoy.   If you love chick lit books I know that you will probably enjoy this book.
