Murder On Safari by Peter Riva

iRead Website new logo

Murder On Safari by Peter Riva was an amazing book to read.  This book is a thrill and I love that it takes you out of the United States and puts you into a situation that you most likely have never experienced.  I love this because you can really can imagine something like this happening which always makes books better to me.  I loved everything about this book and I loved how I felt like I understood what was going on and like I was there with the characters.  I am a huge fan of thrillers and this book didn’t let me down in least.  If you love thrillers than I know you will love this book as much as I did.  If you have read this book let me know what you think of it below.

Murder on Safari

About The Book

Only a reality TV producer and an expert safari guide can stop a terrorist attack.

Every adventure starts at the fringes of civilization. For expert safari guide Mbuno and wildlife television producer Pero Baltazar, filming in the wild of East Africa should have been a return to the adventure they always loved. This time they’d be filming soaring vultures in northern Kenya and giant sea crocodiles in Tanzania with Mary, the daughter of the world’s top television evangelist, the very reverend Jimmy Threte.

But when a terrorist cell places them in the crosshairs, there is suddenly no escape and they must put their filming aside and combine all their talents to thwart an all-out al-Shabaab terrorist attack on Jimmy Threte’s Christian gathering of hundreds of thousands in Nairobi, Kenya.

Birds Of Passage by Joe Giordano

Italy Book Tours Logo in colour

Birds Of Passage by Joe Giordano was an interesting book to read.  I loved following along with immigrants as they came here from Italy and the things they did once they got here.  I did get bogged down in details from time to time because there were tons of characters and at times trying to keep all the characters separate was a challenge.  This is a book that you have to pay super close attention when you are reading it so you don’t get lost.  Even with all that being said I did enjoy this book for the most part.  I did like how the author was able to make me feel like I was there with the characters and I would recommend this book to anyone who loves historical fiction.

Birds of Passage by Joe Giordano

About The Book

What turns the gentle mean and the mean brutal? The thirst for wealth? The demand for respect? Vying for a woman? Birds of Passage recalls the Italian immigration experience at the turn of the twentieth-century when New York’s streets were paved with violence and disappointment.

Leonardo Robustelli leaves Naples in 1905 to seek his fortune. Carlo Mazzi committed murder and escaped. Azzura Medina is an American of Italian parents. She’s ambitious but strictly controlled by her mother. Leonardo and Carlo vie for her affection.

Azzura, Leonardo, and Carlo confront con men, Tammany Hall politicians, the longshoreman’s union, Camorra clans, Black Hand extortion, and the Tombs prison.

The Hollow Man by Paul Hollis

iRead Website new logo

The Hollow Man by Paul Hollis was a book that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book.  I love books like this one most of the time because it makes them super fun to read.  I love trying to figure out what is going to happen before the end of the book.  If I am being honest I couldn’t figure this book out before it ended and that means I loved it even more.  I was drawn to the main character from the first page and I had to know what happened and if he managed to figure out who was trying to destroy Europe.  He reminded me of Jack Reacher from the books written by Lee Child’s and since that is one of my all time favorite series of books I couldn’t help but love this book.  If you love mystery books than I know you will love this one!

The Hollow Man

About The Book

A terrorist’s plot, the assassination of a prime minister, holds the key to an apocalyptic plan to destroy Europe’s economy. It’s impossible to stop, but one man doesn’t know enough to think the world can’t be saved. He’s no hero; not clever or capable, talented or tested. The Hollow Man is just trying to survive in an uncertain climate where terrorism is changing the rules of how we live.

Welcome, Reluctant Stranger by E Journey

iRead Book Tour Logo Medium

Welcome, Reluctant Stranger by E Journey is the last book in the “Between Two Worlds” series.  I have to say that this was my least favorite book in the series and I am not sure why.  I just didn’t feel like I could connect with these characters as well as  I did with the other characters in the first two books.  There were also places where this book didn’t seem to flow as well.  Now with all that being said I did still like this book.  I like that you don’t have to read all the books to know what is going on.  If you love romance novels than I would check out this series because even though I liked the first two books more than this one I would still recommend the entire series to you.

Welcome, Reluctant Stranger!

About The Book

Frantic flight, peaceful life. Act of treason on an island country. Cauldron of warring emotions. Exotic beauty, ace with a gun. Hunk with gifts for mockery and cooking.

Nine-year-old Leilani and her family mysteriously flee the island country of Costa Mora, leaving her father. Years later, her peaceful solitary life in California ends when she rescues Justin Halverson from thugs and she learns a devastating truth about her father. As she agonizes over her father, Justin comforts her, and they’re drawn closer together.

With Justin, she returns to her birthplace to get her father quietly out. There, she reconnects with her past, but can she forgive her father and accept him for who he is? Can she finally be at peace with who she is? Welcome, Reluctant Stranger interweaves a love story into a tale of past political intrigue and Leilani’s inner journey, accepting her past.

EJourney

About The Author

EJourney is a realist who thinks she has little imagination. Credit that to her training (Ph. D., University of Illinois) and work in mental health, writing for academics and bureaucrats, and critiquing the work of others. She’s been striving ever since to think and write like normal people.

She’s a well-traveled flâneuse—a female observer-wanderer—who watches, observes, listens. And writes. A sucker for happy endings, she finds enough that depresses her about real life, but seeks no catharsis by writing about it. For her, writing is escape, entertainment. She doesn’t strive to enlighten. Not deliberately. But the bias of her old profession does carry over into her writing. So, instead of broad shoulders and heaving bosoms, she goes into protagonists’ thoughts, emotions, inner conflicts, insecurities, and struggles to reach balance and grow.

Hello, Agnieszka by E Journey was a great addition to the first book in the series.  If you happened to miss my review on the first book you can click here to check it out but you don’t have to read these books in order.  You can read them in any order that you want to.  I have really fallen in love with this authors style of writing and with the characters in both of the books.  There is something that I can’t put my finger on that keeps me coming back and not wanting to put the books down.  This book takes place in the 70’s so I could be considered an historical romance for those of us that are younger but I don’t think of it that way.  I did like the characters in this book but I think in the long run still like the characters from the first story.  If you are looking for a great romance novel than you should check this one out.
