Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr

Book Review Graphic

FTC:I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  I received no other compensation.

Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr was just as good as the first book in the series.  If you missed the review on the first book, you could click here to check it out.  You do have to read these books in order but if you are just interested in this book than you don’t have to read the first one to understand what is going on in this book.  This book was easier for me to get into and it didn’t have as many slow spots as the first book did for me.  If I was just comparing this book to the first one, I liked this one a hundred times more than I did the first one.  I hope that she is planning on writing more books because I enjoyed this one and I am sure her next one will be just as good.  If you love chick lit than I know, you will love this book as much as I did.

Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr

About The Book

Readers first met sassy Kimberly Long in Blogger Girl, and now the feisty New Yorker is back in a sequel packed with quick wit, friendship, heartache, and, of course, romance.

Kim runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her lifelong dream to become a published author. At first glance, her life is five-pink-champagne-flutes worthy.

But is there more to the story than meets the eye?

After hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead” more times than she’s read Bridget Jones’s Diary, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident “mean girl.” As if Kim doesn’t have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog Pastel Is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim’s budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn’t see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.

This is the year when all of Kim’s dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will the story have a happily ever after, or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?

This novel can be read as a sequel or as a standalone and is best accompanied by a cocktail, preferably a pink one.

First Sight by Laura Donohue

Book Review

First Sight by Laura Donohue was a great book.  I love that this was a shorter book to read and that makes it easy for me to fit into my schedule.  This was such a great story and I can’t wait to read more books by her in the future.  This book was easy to read and understand.  Her writing also made me want to keep reading because I had to know what happened and how the story ended.  I loved the characters and the setting of this story.  I think one of the reasons I loved this story so much was because I have always wanted something like this to happen in my life so I felt like I could relate to the story & characters.  This was a sweet love story that I would recommend to anyone who love romance novels and is looking for a super sweet love story to read.

Blue Midnight by Tess Thompson

Book Review Graphic

Blue Midnight by Tess Thompson was another amazing book.  This is the second book I have read by Tess Thompson and I have to say that I wasn’t let down.  She is an amazing author and I am so glad I get the chance to review her books.  Anyway let’s get on to the review for this book.  I loved all the characters and from the first page of this book I felt bad for Blythe and I spent the book hoping that everything worked out good for her.  I am always a sucker for love stories and this one didn’t let me down in the least.

About The Book

“If you change your mind, here’s this.” Finn Lanigan kissed a young Blythe Heywood one last time under an Idaho star-scattered sky. It was the last kiss that ever weakened her knees, the last sky she noticed for over a dozen years. Then she left, returning to her fiancé, the wedding she’d committed to and the secure life she’d yearned for since she was a little girl.

Thirteen years later, her husband leaves Blythe for his young associate. Devastated, she’s unable to imagine the next chapter of her life as she packs her family’s belonging to move across town. Unexpectedly, she finds the forgotten slip of paper in the back of drawer.

Finn Lanigan – 208-555-2004

Hadn’t she tossed it years before, in one of the moments that first year of marriage when she vowed to be the perfect wife and mother? Apparently not. Here it remained. Her road not taken.

Facing three weeks without her young daughters, Blythe sets out to find the man she left behind so long ago. With only the name of the small town where he once lived, Peregrine, Idaho, and the memory of their last kiss under a starry sky, she heads across the Pacific Northwest in search of him.

What she finds in the foothills of Blue Mountain challenges everything she thought she knew and is the very last thing she expected. Within days, her life changes forever. But it is her destiny and destinies cannot be denied.

The first book of the Lanigan Clan Collection, laced with Thompson’s multifaceted and diverse characters, “Blue Midnight” is a mature love story about second chances, family and the complexities of trust and vulnerability after betrayal.

The Heart’s Pursuit by Robin Lee Hatcher

Book Review Graphic

The Heart’s Pursuit by Robin Lee Hatcher was such a fun book to read.  This book was fun because I have read so many books and this one was different because of how the story goes and what goes on.  I think that is part of the big reason that I loved this book as much as I did.  It also helped that I love Robin Lee Hatchers books.  I loved both of the characters and I felt so bad for Silver and just wanted things to work out for her and her family.  I loved the characters in this book and I was so happy with how it all turned out.  If you love historical fiction than make sure you check this book out!

The Heart's Pursuit

About The Book

A jilted bride desperate to save her family from ruin.
A bounty hunter seeking vengeance for a ravaged past.
An arduous trek toward justice—or redemption.

Silver Matlock and Jared Newman know traveling together is a bad idea. Bad for Silver’s already tarnished reputation in her small Colorado town. Bad for bounty hunter Jared’s secret, single-minded mission for revenge. But Silver is determined to track down the rogue who left her at the altar and stole the last remnant of her father’s fortune. And Jared’s in a hurry to hunt down the murderer who destroyed his family—even if Silver is too distractingly beautiful for comfort.

The pair takes off over mountain and desert, past bleak homesteads and raw mining towns, hot on the trail of the two villains who took what wasn’t theirs to take. Soon supplies dwindle, secrets emerge, and suspicion leave Silver and Jared at odds when they need each other most. To confront an enemy deadlier than desert rattlesnakes and rocky cliffs, Silver and Jared must learn to forgive and trust and face the question they haven’t dared voice: What happens next?

Tea & Primroses by Tess Thompson

Book Review Graphic

Tea & Primroses by Tess Thompson was a fun book to read.  I didn’t read book on in this series but I do want to go back and read it now that I have finished this book.  At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book but after I read a few pages I was hooked and didn’t want to stop reading it until I finished the book.  I loved the characters.  I also love how the author tells the story and I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

Tea Primroses

About The Book

Nothing is as it seemed in calm, quaint Legley Bay.

Famous novelist Constance Mansfield lived a seemingly straightforward – if private – and somewhat predictable life. Friends, beloved daughter Sutton, a beautiful home, and all the success an author could wish for. A perfect life….but was it?

When a hit and run accident suddenly takes her mother’s life, Sutton finds hidden secrets with her heartbreak. Emotional walls she assumed Constance had built to protect her privacy may have been to protect something – or someone – else entirely. Family and friends return home for support, including her own lost-love, Declan. He’s the first thing she craves to help her cope with her loss and the questions she’s left with, but he’s also the last person she wants to see. Will he be able to put down roots at last?

Can the loss of true love be the making of a life, or is it destined to be the undoing of everything? When money, power and love combine across time, anything is possible.
