James A. Baldwin – Quote Of The Week

I chose a quote by James A. Baldwin for this week’s quote.

When I saw this quote I knew I wanted to use it because I think it is one of the truest quotes that I have read in quite awhile.  I say that because look what happened in Florida last week.  It makes me sad that there are people in this world who have no problem going into a school or any other location and kill complete strangers because they are mad and feel like they have nothing to lose.  I wish that the government would do something to try make these mass shootings stop.  I have no idea how we can stop them but I think it is time to sit down and figure it out.  Those are just a few of my thoughts on this quote.  I also want everyone to know that my thoughts and prayers are with the people in Florida who are having to deal with this situation.

Winston Churchill – Quote Of The Week

This week I chose a quote from Winston Churchill.

I loved this quote because it reminded me you have to have the courage to keep going and trying to be a better person.  It also reminds me that just because you have success once doesn’t mean it will stay that way.  You always have to keep working and improving because if you don’t you will fall behind and have to basically start over.  You have to keep learning and progressing in order to stay on top of your game.

Hubert H. Humphrey – Quote Of The Week

The quote that I chose for this week is by Hubert H. Humphrey.

I don’t have a ton of friends, and I am okay with that.  As I have gotten older and I have learned that I would rather have no friends than have people in my life that only care about themselves.  I know when I was younger I was always worried about the number of friends I had.  The older I have gotten, the more I realize that I would rather have no friends than deal with people who aren’t real friends.  I no longer care or have the patience for people in my life who aren’t honest and sincere.  I have cut out the majority of negative people out of my life because I don’t have the energy to deal with them anymore.  Those are just a few of my thoughts on this quote.

Ralph Waldo Emerson – Quote Of The Week

The quote I chose for this week is by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I liked this quote because I am always trying to be more patient in my life.  I learned a great deal of patience when I was working as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) in a nursing home.  When you are working with the elderly, you need to have a great deal of patience because they just don’t move at the same speed that we do.  I also started learning to be patient as a teenager when I would sit and listen to my great-grandma talk and tell me stories while I was over at my aunt’s house.  I have always been so thankful for that time because it taught me so many skills that I still use today in my life.  Those are just a few of my thoughts on this quote.

John Wooden – Quote Of The Week

This week’s quote is by John Wooden.

I loved this quote because it is so right.  I love listening to and learning about how others think because it helps me grow as a person.  I get so annoyed at people who refuse to listen to other people’s point of view and are willing to physically hurt someone with their opinions.  I don’t agree with everyone, but I do let them speak, and I listen to them because I am always willing to learn about things and maybe they have something to say that will change my point of view.  I think people today are too quick to hit someone instead of just letting them speak and then debating them so everyone can learn.  Those are only a few of my thoughts on this topic.

Do you agree with me or am I wrong?
