PERSONAL THOUGHTS

The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen

Book Review

The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen was a great historical fiction book to read.  I have read tons of books by Julie Klassen so this book had a lot to live up to and it did live up to everything I thought it would.  I haven’t read any historical fiction books in the last little while and I loved how this one brought in the genre that I love more than any other and that is mystery.  I always fall in love with books that have some sort of mystery involved and this one didn’t let me down.  I loved this book because like Abigail I had to know what happened and why they got to live there for such a great deal.  I always love knowing why things happen and I love learning about the characters in the books.   This was such a great book that I would recommend to everyone who is looking for a great written historical novel than make sure you check this one out.

About The Book

Julie Klassen Is the Top Name in Inspirational regency Romance

Abigail Foster fears she will end up a spinster, especially as she has little dowry to improve her charms and the one man she thought might marry her–a longtime friend–has fallen for her younger, prettier sister.
When financial problems force her family to sell their London home, a strange solicitor arrives with an astounding offer: the use of a distant manor house abandoned for eighteen years. The Fosters journey to imposing Pembrooke Park and are startled to find it entombed as it was abruptly left: tea cups encrusted with dry tea, moth-eaten clothes in wardrobes, a doll’s house left mid-play . . .

The handsome local curate welcomes them, but though he and his family seem to know something about the manor’s past, the only information they offer Abigail is a warning: Beware trespassers who may be drawn by rumors that Pembrooke contains a secret room filled with treasure.

Hoping to improve her family’s financial situation, Abigail surreptitiously searches for the hidden room, but the arrival of anonymous letters addressed to her, with clues about the room and the past, bring discoveries even more startling. As secrets come to light, will Abigail find the treasure and love she seeks…or very real danger?

Brush With Love by Rachel Hauck

Book Review

Brush With Love by Rachel Hauck was a sweet story to read.  I loved how this was a shorter story as well.  There is something about short stories that at times makes me love them more that longer books.  This is such a sweet story and it is super easy to read if you have a few hours of time to pass.  I loved the characters in this book and the setting of the book.   To me these characters felt like they could have been real people and people that I would have liked to know.  I have read other books by Rachel and I don’t know that she has ever written a book that I haven’t loved.  If you love romance novels that I would for sure suggest this one.

Hannah Arendt-Quote Of The Week

Quote Of The Week

This weeks quote is by Hannah Arendt.

Hannah Arendt

I loved this quote because it is true.  I know that up until I forgave my parents I always felt held back and weighed down.  I still feel weighed down at time because there are things that have happened recently that I know I need to forgive and move on from but I am not in the place where I feel like I can do that right now.  It is something that I am always working on but I am not there just yet.  What do you think of this weeks quote by Hannah Arendt?

Overkill by Amy Saunders

Book Review

Overkill by Amy Saunders was a fun book to read.  I have to admit that I was lost through parts of this book because I haven’t read any other books in this series.  That being said you can read this book and still understand this story you just won’t understand some of the backstory like me.  Anyway lets get back to this book.  I loved all the characters and the way that this book is written.  I am for sure going to go back and read the other books in this series because the author does a great job of writing and making you feel as  though the characters are real life people.  If you love mystery books than make sure you check this one out.

Climax by Christina George

Book Review

Climax by Christina George this was a good book just like the first 2 were.  If you missed my reviews of book one and/or book two you should check them out before you read this review because some of my thoughts have changed about the characters in the books.  I loved the first 2 books but by the time I got halfway through this book I was so tired of Kate and how she couldn’t seem to make up her mind about who she wanted to be with.  I still loved the characters but I was super annoyed with her because she kept bouncing between the two of them.  I did love how the series ended and who she ended up with.  I think it ended perfectly and I was sad to see the characters go because after 3 books I loved the characters and the whole plot of this book.

About The Book

Kate Mitchell has never forgiven herself for breaking Nick Lavigne’s heart. Now he’s back and he’s moved on, and it’s affecting Kate’s life more than she’s willing to admit.

Kate Mitchell has everything. She’s the head of a crazy successful publishing house, engaged to the traffic-stopping sexy Mac Ellis and she’s about to sign one of the biggest authors of her career.

And that’s when everything falls apart.

Everything is perfect…until it’s not.

In a city of 8 million people Kate manages to run into someone she never expected to see again.

Nick is handsome, impossibly kind, every girl’s dream, and Kate’s former fiancé. He’s also the brother of the rising star author she’s trying to sign. Now that Nick’s back in town and has moved on he insists he’s over Kate, but part of him still can’t get past how amazing they were, and his sister won’t let anyone forget how brutally it ended.

When Mac is dealt a life-changing blow, it forces Kate to question every single choice she’s made.

Follow Kate as she embarks on a journey of life and love, navigating through the decisions that will change it all forever.

Christina George

About The Author

Christina George has worked in publishing for twenty years (give or take). Here’s what this book isn’t. It’s not a slam against publishing (though it is broken) and it’s not a slam against authors (though some of them are crazy). This book is not autobiographical though many of the stories are true. No you won’t know which ones, cause it’s more fun to guess, right? George continues to work in publicity and helps authors because at the end of the day she does love books, she loves publishing, and she loves authors. She hopes you’ll enjoy this romp through Kate’s world as much as she enjoyed creating it.
