About That Kiss by Jill Shalvis

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

About That Kiss by Jill Shalvis was a sweet romance novel that I was sad when it ended.  I loved these characters, and this is one of the few books that I wish was longer because I hated to see it end.  I was left feeling like my friends had died which is crazy when you stop and think about it.  I have read several other books by this author and I am pretty sure that I have loved them all, so I wasn’t shocked that I loved this one as well.  This was definitely pretty typical romance book and if I am being honest that is what I loved about this book.  I am not always the biggest fan of these types of books but right now this is the best type of book for me because I have so much going on I don’t have the time to read books that you have to stop and think a ton about.  I think that this book would be perfect for anyone who loves chick lit books.

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Twofer Murder by Lauren Carr was another great book.  I have reviewed several other books by this author, and I have liked all of them.   I always worry as I read more and more books because I figure at some point I will find a book that I don’t like so I still fear that the book I am reading is the one that doesn’t like.  I love how all of her books intertwine so that you always basically know who everyone is and how they are all related to each other.  I am a huge fan of Mac and his dog Gnarly, so I always love when they are in the book as well.  This book didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat, but I also wasn’t able to figure out how it ended so I always enjoy books like that.  I loved just about everything about this book, and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.

The Runaway Rock Star by Veronica Blade

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Runaway Rock Star by Veronica Blade was a sweet romance novel.  I feel in love with the Liam right from the start, and because of that, I was able to finish this book pretty fast.  I read this book in two days because I didn’t want to put it down.   I also loved Emma’s daughter because she reminded me so much of my nephew and kids that age always makes me smile.  I loved how hard working Emma was and how she was a great mother.  I knew how this book would end even though I didn’t know the exact way things would happen.  I loved that this book didn’t have over the top sex scenes in it. There weren’t any parts of this book that made me uncomfortable reading it, and I don’t think that it would really offend anyone else either.  If you don’t like super-explicit sex scenes than I know you will enjoy this book.  I loved the setting of this book as well.  I can’t wait to pick up more books by this author in the future.

About The Book

NOTE: As with all Veronica Blade books, this is a sweet, semi-clean romance.

An infamous bad-boy rocker falls for a small-town girl who has no idea who he is. Considering his reputation, that’s probably a good thing.

After his latest escapade splashes across the tabloids, Grammy-winning bad-boy Liam Blackwell questions his own choices. He alters his appearance, hits the road and drives until hunger forces him to stop at The Wagon Wheel. Mesmerized by the pretty bartender, he lingers and, with each passing moment, staying becomes easier to imagine. But he doesn’t do relationships and Emma isn’t a one-night kind of girl. And when this small-town girl learns all about his big city life, wouldn’t she dump him anyway?

When a stranger walks into The Wagon Wheel wearing leather and a sexy grin, Emma Taylor is instantly drawn to him. But raising a child alone is hard enough at twenty-one without adding his kind of trouble into the mix. Though Emma sees more in Liam beyond the bruised knuckles and tattoos, she can’t risk temptation again or allow herself to hope for love, because when he inevitably blows out of town, he’ll just be another guy who broke her heart.

Look For Her by Emily Winslow

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Virtual Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Look For Her by Emily Winslow was a fantastic book.  I knew going into it that I was probably going to love it because I am such a huge fan of crime novels.  This book pretty much had everything in it that I like, but I did have to stop and remind myself that it does take place in another country because from time to time I thought words were missed spelled, but it was actually just how things are spelled in the United Kingdom.  I read this book in a couple of days because I didn’t want to put it down until I was done reading the book.  I had so many different ideas as I was reading as to how it was going to end and I had parts of it figured out but not the entire thing, so I enjoyed that about this book as well.  I fell in love with all of the characters except for Annalise Williams.  She bugged me whenever she showed up, and I hated that she would just straight up lie to people so they would feel sorry for her.  Other than her I loved the other characters, and I am sure that if you like thriller books, you will love this book as much as I did.

Lilling might seem like an idyllic English village, but it’s home to a dark history. In 1976, a teenage girl named Annalise Wood disappeared, and though her body was later discovered, the culprit was never found. Decades later, Annalise maintains a perverse kind of celebrity, and is still the focus of grief, speculation, and for one young woman, a disturbing, escalating jealousy.

When DNA linked to the Annalise murder unexpectedly surfaces, cold case detective Morris Keene and his former partner, Chloe Frohmann, hope to finally bring closure to this traumatized community. But the new evidence instead undoes the case’s only certainty: the buried body that had long ago been confidently identified as Annalise may be someone else entirely, and instead of answers, the investigators face only new puzzles.

Whose body was unearthed all those years ago, and what happened to the real Annalise? Is someone interfering with the investigation? And is there a link to a present-day drowning with eerie connections? With piercing insight and shocking twists, Emily Winslow explores the dark side of sensationalized crime in this haunting psychological thriller.

Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from First Words in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Kill Shot by Susan Sleeman was a book that left me wondering if something like this could really happen.  I love books like this that make me stop and think about whether or not things like that could really happen.  I was a huge fan of this book right from the start, and I didn’t even mind the romance parts that were in the book.  I really like Rick right from the start, and Oliva did grow on me throughout the book.  I really enjoyed the plot and even though I was able to figure out what was going to happen before the book ended.  This is book two in the “White Knight” series, and I am for sure going to go back and read book one because I am sure I will love that book just as much as I enjoyed this book.  I also hope that she writes more books in this series because I can’t wait to read them in the future.

About The Book

Some fears haunt you …

When ballistics and weapons expert Rick Cannon learned the Department of Defense had developed self-steering bullets that show 100% accuracy and make even a gun novice a lethal sniper, he feared they would eventually end up in the wrong hands.

Until they become reality.

That fear comes true when a vet is killed with stolen “smart bullets.” Rick and his FBI task force, nicknamed The White Knights, are soon charged with finding and stopping the killer. Rick enlists the help of the victim’s therapist, Olivia Dobbs, who is well known for her success in counseling military vets with PTSD. But when the killer sets his sights on their key witness, Rick must rely on the skills he learned as a Marine sniper to make sure the next bullet fired isn’t a
kill shot to take Olivia out.

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author & Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp was a different book compared to books that I have been reading lately.  I did read another book by this author last year you can click here to check out that review and book if you missed it.  This book was different from the other one, and I think I liked this book even more than the first one I read by her.  This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout most of it because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen or where this book was going to end up.  I spent most of the book wanting to know that why everyone in the town of “Lost” was acting so strange.  There were quite a few spots in this book that made me take a step back and wonder what was really going on. Like when Corey was looking at a painting that Kyra had done before she died and in the painting, she (Kyra) was under the ice and come to find out that is how she actually died, so it took me by surprise.  If you like YA fiction than I would for sure read this book because I am sure you will enjoy it.

About The Book

Best friends Corey and Kyra were inseparable in their snow-covered town of Lost Creek, Alaska. When Corey moves away, she makes Kyra promise to stay strong during the long, dark winter, and wait for her return.

Just days before Corey is to return home to visit, Kyra dies. Corey is devastated―and confused. The entire Lost community speaks in hushed tones about the town’s lost daughter, saying her death was meant to be. And they push Corey away like she’s a stranger.

Corey knows something is wrong. With every hour, her suspicion grows. Lost is keeping secrets―chilling secrets. But piecing together the truth about what happened to her best friend may prove as difficult as lighting the sky in an Alaskan winter…

About The Author

Marieke Nijkamp a storyteller, dreamer, globe-trotter, geek. She’s the author of THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS and the forthcoming BEFORE I LET GO.

Her short stories can be found in: PILGRIM PLAYWRIGHT GENIE GUARD, FERAL YOUTH, and THE RADICAL ELEMENT.
