Exit Strategy by Linda L Richards

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Exit Strategy by Linda L Richards was a book that I wasn’t sure I was going to like, but I ended up loving the book.  I did receive a digital copy of this book, but I also bought a copy of the audiobook because I wanted to listen to this story as I was working.  I enjoyed the audiobook’s narrator, and if I ever saw that she narrated another audiobook I was interested in, I would listen to it.  I enjoyed this book because even though it is in a genre that I love, I don’t usually listen to this type of story.  I spent a good chunk of the book trying to figure out what would happen next because the author did a great job of keeping me guessing.  This is the second book in the series.  I didn’t read the first book, but the author included enough of the back story that I wasn’t lost.  If I didn’t know that there was a book before this one, I wouldn’t have been confused at all.  I think I will go back and check out the first book because I enjoyed this one so much.  She did a great job of making me feel as if I knew the characters.  I felt like they were real people, not just book characters.  If you are fans of the suspense genre, I would pick up this book.

Oops!: Tales of the Zombie Turkey Apocalypse

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Oops!: Tales of the Zombie Turkey Apocalypse was a fun book and is my favorite book in the series.  I enjoyed this one because it was a bunch of short stories, and I always enjoy those books.  I love that each story is short enough that I don’t get bored.  I loved the stories that didn’t have anything to do with zombies because zombies aren’t something that I usually enjoy.  I did enjoy the stories about zombie vegetables, though, because I think that would be great if it happened.  I also found that some of the stories in this book made me laugh more than any of the other three books in this series.  I also want to find a time machine because I would love to go back in time and see things that happened.  I would recommend listening to the other stories before this one if you don’t want any spoilers, but if that doesn’t bother you, then I would pick this one up first.  If you are looking for a funny book to read I would recommend this one because I am sure you will enjoy it just like I did.

Andy Zach pulls out all the stops on his imagination as he serves up this smorgasbord of silliness. Try it. Laughter is good for your soul.

About The Author

After moving to the United States as a child, in high school, he won a science fair by bringing toads back from suspended animation. Andy, in addition to being the foremost expert on paranormal animals, enjoys breeding phoenixes. He lives in Illinois with his five phoenixes.

The audiobook is available now on Audible.

Paranormal Privateers by Andy Zack

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Paranormal Privateers by Andy Zack was an interesting book but was also super long.  I would listen to this book for a couple of hours and then I would have to walk away and come back with it.  This is the third book in the series and I would recommend listening to the whole series in order or you might get confused.  I did find it easier to keep track of who was talking and how the characters are related.  I enjoyed this book but not as much as the second book but it enjoyed it way more than I did the first book.  I think part of my problem is the fact that I am listening to the whole series in about a month so I am just tired of the series right now.   I am going to go back and listen to this book in the future so I can see if I feel the same way after some time has passed.   With that being said this book did a great job of distracting me from all of the craziness that is happening in the world right now.  If you love comedy or are looking for a new series of books I would give this one a shot.

Withstanding the Enemy by T.L. Mahrt

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Withstanding the Enemy by T.L. Mahrt was a book that took me a few chapters before I got into the book.  This book was a slow starter but once it picked up I really enjoyed the story.  I also wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that there are parts of the book that deal with domestic violence and if that is something that will trigger you I would skip this book.  It didn’t bother me but that is probably because I have never had to deal with anything like that.  This is the first book I have read by this author and I will read more by her in the future I am sure.  I also enjoy the narrator of the book and I wouldn’t mind listening to other books that they read in the future.  I also love Chance right from the start and spent the whole book hoping that he and Emma would end up with each other.  If you love romance novels I would pick this one up and give it a shot.

Zombie Turkeys by Andy Zack

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Zombie Turkeys by Andy Zack was an interesting book, to say the least.  This genre isn’t one that I usually read and the only reason I decided to check it out is because of what is happening in the world right now.  That being said it did take my mind off of what is going on but this wasn’t one of my favorites.  Right from the start of the book it reminded me of the movie “Free Birds” except for the fact that this book in for adults.  I wasn’t the biggest fan of narrators because I found it hard to tell the difference between all characters in the story because they all sounded so similar.  I found it hard to listen to this one as I was working because I couldn’t focus on what I was doing.  There were parts that made me laugh and I am currently listening to the next books in the series and that review will be up next Saturday.  I did think that this book was super rushed and at times I wish it wasn’t so rushed.  The one thing about this book that made me wonder is even though this situation couldn’t really happen but I wonder if something like this could happen because of the genetic modifying products we use in the real world.  If you are looking for something totally different I would pick up a copy of this book and check it.

About The Book

Length: 5 hours 32 minutes

Genre: Science Fiction; Humor

Series: Life After Chronicles, Book 1

Release date: Nov. 1, 2017

Synopsis: Sam Melvin, an underachieving e-reporter from a small town, changes forever when he meets turkeys that won’t stay dead. You can shoot ’em, chop ’em, burn ’em — they come back stronger. The undead plague of poultry spreads uncontrollably, rocking the whole country. As Sam tracks down the zombie turkeys and how to eradicate them, his editor, Lisa Kambacher, nags him to turn his stories and expenses in on time. During their years of working together, Lisa has mellowed into an irascible pinchpenny. Lisa snipes at Sam for plebeian writing but uses her intelligence to pursue the lucrative carnivorous turkey story. Sam and Lisa ricochet across the landscape, tracking turkeys and fleeing the bloodthirsty hordes. Careening from shell-shocked grocery store owners fighting turkeys crawling out of refrigerators, to machine-gunning turkey farmers, to secret militia, Sam and Lisa doggedly report. Throughout the turkey apocalypse, they dare ravaged cities, plow knee-deep in gore and corpses, and upload streams of zombie turkey video news to the world. With paranoid militias clashing with the federal government and unkillable turkeys, Sam and Lisa doubt their ability to survive. Sam and Lisa have no superpowers. If you have a heart condition or lack humor, you should not listen to Zombie Turkeys, no matter how much you want to find out what happens.

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

15 Minutes by Larissa Reinhart was a fun book to read.  I was almost always left wondering what crazy thing Maizie was going to do next.  She was always doing or saying crazy things that would get on my nerves from time to time.  As I was listening to the story Maizie would do something crazy and I would always wonder how she always managed to mess just about everything up.  As the book went on and on I wished she would have just shut up for a few minutes so that she wasn’t always making everything even worse.  I did love that this book wasn’t intense and it made me laugh quite a bit even though it isn’t a comedy book.  I also really enjoyed the narrator in this book and the author.  I know that I will for sure be listening to more books that this narrator read because I loved her voice.  With everything going on in the world right now I chose this book because it is a light hearted story and was able to give me a world to escape into when I need a break from my life for a little while.  If you love mystery books but aren’t wanting to read anything that is intense I would pick this one up because in the end it was a super fun book to listen to.
