Miracle Drug by Dr. Richard Mabry was another great book by this author.  This is the fourth book by this author that I have read and I loved this one just as much if not more than the other 3 that I have read. I know part of the reason that I love his books is because they are medical thrillers and I love anything having to do with the medical field.  I can’t say enough good things about this author and his books.  This book reminded me of the Ebola outbreak that happened in Africa last year.  I loved this book because even though it is fiction it is something that could (and did) happen in the real world so that makes it an even better book to me.  If you love medical thrills or if you love books that might actually happen than you don’t want to miss this book because it is amazing to say the least.

Miracle Drug by Dr. Richard Mabry

About The Book

Miracle Drug (Abingdon, September 2015)

Overcoming these odds will take more than a miracle drug—it will take a miracle.

The infection wasn’t supposed to happen, but it did. The treatment was supposed to take care of it, but it didn’t. Then Dr. Josh Pearson discovers why—his patients, including the former President of the United States, have been dosed with a different strain of the original virus, one that is universally fatal. The only chance for survival is treatment with an experimental drug, but the manufacturer might already have discarded its supply.

As if treating the President of the United States isn’t stressful enough, the situation goes from bad to worse when Rachel Moore, a nurse Josh is falling in love with, falls ill. With the nation’s eyes on him, Josh must pull off a miracle to save a man who holds a good deal of power and the woman who holds his heart.

The Splendor Of Ordinary Days by Jeff High

***I wanted to let everyone know that this book may offend some people.  I personally didn’t see anything wrong with this book and wasn’t offend in the least.  I want to make sure you knew that so you are aware of this.***
Fall Book Review Graphic

The Splendor Of Ordinary Days by Jeff High was a fun book to read.  This is the third book in the Watervalley series and this is the first book that I have read and I was able to figure out what was going on so you don’t have to read them in order if you don’t want to.  I would recommend reading them in order if you plan on reading the series though.  I really enjoyed reading about these characters and getting to know the people in the town.  Even though I have read this book I think I am still going to go back and read the other books because I really enjoyed this book and the author writing.  I like Luke from the first page and I also really liked the new veterinarian that you meet in the first chapter as well.  I love that this  book brings awareness to people about PTSD because that is such a big problem in this country right now.  If you love reading I know you will love this book!

The Splendor Of Ordinary Days by Jeff High

About The Book

Readers of Jan Karon’s Mitford series and Patrick Taylor’s Irish Country series will fall in love with Jeff High’s funny, heartfelt Watervalley series.

The pastoral charm of small-town Watervalley, Tenneesse, can be deceptive, as young Dr. Luke Bradford discovers when he’s caught in the fallout of a decades-old conflict…

After a rocky start as Watervalley’s only doctor, Luke Bradford has decided to stay in town, honoring the three-year commitment he made to pay off his medical school debts. But even as his friendships with the quirky townsfolk deepen, and he pursues a romance with lovely schoolteacher Christine Chambers, several military veterans’ emotional wounds trigger anger and unrest in Watervalley.

At the center of the clash is the curmudgeonly publisher of the local newspaper, Luther Whitmore. Luther grew up in Watervalley, but he returned from combat in Vietnam a changed man. He fenced in beautiful Moon Lake, posting “Keep Out” notices at the beloved spot, and provokes the townspeople with his incendiary newspaper.

As Luke struggles to understand Luther’s past, and restore harmony in Watervalley, an unforeseen crisis shatters a relationship he values dearly. Suddenly Luke must answer life’s toughest questions about service, courage, love, and sacrifice.

The Methuselah Project by Rick Barry

Book Review

The Methuselah Project by Rick Barry was a very unique story.  One of my favorite time periods is WWII and I love how this book was able to involve WWII and the present day.  This book was so unique and I loved it even more because of that fact.  Books tend to follow the same type of patterns so I can usually figure out what is going to happen before the books ends and because this book was so different from anything I have read before I didn’t figure it out until it was ending.  There were also parts of this book that made laugh out loud because of how the situation played out.  I loved this book and I would recommend it to pretty much anyone because it is one of those books that has a little bit of everything in it.

The Methuselah Project by Rick Barry

About The Book

Nazi scientists started many experiments. One never ended.

Roger Greene is a war hero. Raised in an orphanage, the only birthright he knows is the feeling that he was born to fly. Flying against the Axis Powers in World War II is everything he always dreamed–until the day he’s shot down and lands in the hands of the enemy.

When Allied bombs destroy both his prison and the mad genius experimenting on POWs, Roger survives. Within hours, his wounds miraculously heal, thanks to those experiments. The Methuselah Project is a success–but this ace is still not free. Seventy years later, Roger hasn’t aged a day, but he has nearly gone insane. This isn’t Captain America–just a lousy existence only made passable by a newfound faith. The Bible provides the only reliable anchor for Roger’s sanity and his soul. When he finally escapes, there’s no angelic promise or personal prophecy of deliverance, just confusion. It’s 2015–and the world has become an unrecognizable place.

Katherine Mueller–crack shot, genius, and real Southern Belle–offers to help him find his way home. Can he convince her of the truth of his crazy story? Can he continue to trust her when he finds out she works for the very organization he’s trying to flee?

Thrown right into pulse-pounding action from the first page, readers will find themselves transported back in time to a believable, full-colored past, and then catapulted into the present once more. The historical back-and-forth adds a constantly moving element of suspense to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

A Wedding At The Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray

Book Review

A Wedding At The Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray was great book the series.  I love that you don’t have to read all the books in order because there are times when you are just interested in one of the books.  I am never let down by the books that Shelley writes and this one was another amazing book.  I think the two main characters in this book are two of my favorite characters because I feel like these are two of the most relatable.  I had to laugh at the crazy things that Frankie did  throughout the book because I could total see a beagle doing those things.  If you love Amish fiction I would recommend this book as long as this author.

Counting on a Cowboy by Debra Clopton

Book Review

Counting on a Cowboy by Debra Clopton was a super sweet love story.  This is the second book in the series and I have read and reviewed it so you can click here if you want to check out that review.  You don’t have to read the first book to understand what is going on in this book so if you are just interested in this book you can just start here.  I think these two characters are my favorite so far in this series because they seem the most relatable to me.  I really loved Abby because she seemed so relatable to be and there were times where I laughed out loud at the things that Bo did when Levi was first dropped of and he had to figure out what to do and how to do it.  I laughed because I could see my brother doing things like that if he was forced to take care of a new baby that was just dropped off.   I you love romance novels than I would for sure recommend this book to you.

Counting on a Cowboy by Debra Clopton

About The Book

Counting on a Cowboy (Thomas Nelson, August 2015)

After losing everything she held dear, Abby never wants to love again. But a certain cowboy may just spur her to wonder if love might be worth the risk.

Running from a past that haunts her, Abby Knightly is drawn to the cozy town of Wishing Springs, Texas. Maybe this small town could offer hope and healing and a future for Abby . . . if she’s brave enough to reach out and take it by the reins.

Bo Monahan isn’t interested in the new romantic destination his little town has become—or the women who might be looking at him like he’s their next Mr. Right. Between taking care of his Pops and his growing stirrup business, he isn’t looking for serious romantic commitments. But when the infant son he never knew about shows up at his doorstep, his world is turned upside down.

This confirmed bachelor might not think he needs a wife, but he sure needs help. Even Abby can see that, and despite her best efforts to keep her distance, she can’t help but be drawn to this new father-son duo. As Abby throws herself into helping Bo navigate fatherhood, hope sparks between them, revealing that maybe, just maybe, they can navigate their dark pasts and emerge together into a future as bright as the Texas sun itself.

Irish Meadows by Susan Anne Mason

Book Review

Irish Meadows by Susan Anne Mason was a great historical fiction book to read.  I have hard time believing that this was her first historical fiction book because it is amazing.  I have really been enjoying historical fictions books lately and this one didn’t let me down.  I loved Brianna throughout the whole book because she was the character I felt like I could relate to the most.  I didn’t like Colleen at all and even towards the end of the book I still didn’t like her and her personality.  I really loved Gil & Bree because of their personalities and how they acted.  This author does a great job of helping you understand the time period and also why the characters act as them do.  If you love historical romance novels that this one is for you!

Irish Meadows by Susan Anne Mason

About The Book

Irish Meadows (Bethany House, July 2015)

Faced with an uncertain future, sometimes all you have left is the courage to dream.

Brianna and Colleen O’Leary know their Irish immigrant father expects them to marry well. Recently he’s put even more pressure on them, insinuating that the very future of their Long Island horse farm, Irish Meadows, rests in their ability to land prosperous husbands. Both girls, however, have different visions for their futures.

Brianna, a quiet girl with a quick mind, dreams of attending college. Vivacious Colleen, meanwhile, is happy to marry—as long as her father’s choice meets her exacting standards of the ideal groom. When former stable hand Gilbert Whelan returns from business school and distant relative Rylan Montgomery visits Long Island during his seminary training, the two men
quickly complicate everyone’s plans.

As the farm slips ever closer to ruin, James O’Leary grows more desperate. It will take every ounce of courage for both sisters to avoid being pawns in their father’s machinations and instead follow their hearts. And even if they do, will they inevitably find their dreams too distant to reach?
