Pain and Gain by Marc Schiller

Pain & Gain Cover

My Review

From the moment I started this book I couldn’t stop reading it.  I personally have never heard of the movie or the tv show that was about this so when I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading this book and lets just say I was shocked.  If this book had been fiction I would have stopped reading it because some parts of it are so far out there that is insane.  I am actually at a lose of words to describe this book.  I liked the book and the fact that it is a true story made me like it even more.  This is for sure a book for people who love to read true crime stories like I do.

About The Book

Memoir/True Crime  Date Published: 1/25/13

Pain and Gain – The Untold True Story’ is a gripping memoir that tells the true story behind the Paramount film Pain and Gain. Written by the real Sun Gym Gang victim, Marc Schiller, ‘Pain and Gain – The Untold True Story’ will take readers on an adrenaline rush with a shocking ending.

This is the untold true story of one citizen’s pointless torture and month-long captivity. The story, formerly mistold if not utterly overlooked, has been made into a feature film. Even as a dark comedy, there is little amusement to be found in human suffering. The sick and twisted minds of Mr. Schiller’s captors would be fodder for the Darwin Awards if the results were not so alarmingly inhumane. Physical, mental and emotional torture, as well as sensory deprivation and starvation, the prisoner of war like conditions differed only in the fact that Mr. Schiller was completely alone during his extended stay at the warehouse he refers to as Hotel Hell. An early victim of identity theft in the years following Hurricane Andrew in Miami, Mr. Schiller chronicles his story in tortuous detail. His humiliation, pain and suffering at the hands of these perverted social misfits is a shocking revelation.
What is it like to be imprisoned in near dungeon-like conditions? All this mayhem on American soil toward the end of the last millennium.
Greed, lust for power and the desire to inflict pain and misery were the apparent motivating forces behind this gruesome incident.

Truly a harrowing tale and one that you won’t soon forget.

A Beautiful Struggle by Lilliana Anderson

My Review

I liked this story but at times I did find it hard to follow because of the slang used in the book isn’t what we say here but other than that I loved it. I still gave it 5 stars because I really enjoyed it and read in a day. The author does a great job of making me feel out the main character feels and making me see things how she saw things. I loved how it worked out and I can’t wait to check out more books by her.

About The Book

Katrina Mahoney has a very full life attending university to study a law degree, training for triathlons and now she is working part time as well. She couldn’t possibly find time for a relationship, especially after her last one ended so catastrophically.

Right now she is content focusing on work, study and training while hanging out with her best friend David Taylor, a womaniser with a heart of gold that would do anything for Katrina – except watch her get hurt again.

That is, until the dashing Elliot Roberts, a junior solicitor from her work, shows an interest in her despite their office’s ‘No Dating’ policy.

Katrina struggles with following her heart or following her mind and has trouble seeing where her heart truly lies.

Love in the Balance by Regina Jennings

LoveintheBalance

My Review

I read this book in 2 days because I couldn’t put it down. I loved the author and I saw so much of myself in the main character that I had to know how it ended. This is the first book in a long time that I couldn’t figure out how it was going to end and I love that about the book. The author does a great job of describing the places and also talking about what the characters are feeling when they are feeling it. Everything about this book was amazing!

About The Book

Handsome Cowboy or Debonair Tycoon.
How’s a Girl to Choose?

Molly Lovelace dreams of a life without cares in Lockhart, Texas. She also dreams of handsome wrangler Bailey Garner, her ardent but inconsistent beau. The problem is, with Bailey’s poor prospects, she just can’t fit the two dreams together.

Then mysterious stranger Edward Pierrepont sweeps into town-and her life-and for the first time Molly wonders if she’s met the man who can give her everything. But he won’t be in Lockhart long and while it certainly seems like he talks about their glorious future together, she can’t quite get Bailey out of her mind.

What’s a girl to do with all these decisions when love is in the balance?

The Promise of Paradise by Allie Boniface

My Review

I read this book on about 5 hours because once it was started I couldn’t stop. I loved the characters and I loved were the book took place. The author does a great job of making me see things how the characters were seeing things and making me feel as if I was in the head of the characters. The only thing I could say was that at times I knew what was going to happen but I believe that is because I read so many books that I am usually about to figure out what is going to happen which really pisses me off because I do love to be surprised when I am reading.

About The Book

While he’s looking for a no-strings romance, though, he gets more than he bargained for in Ash, who sees through his bravado to the pain of a loss too fresh to mention.

For Goodness Grape Review

FINAL_logo_words_with_two_toned_grapes_and_tag_line_bold_thumb

About a year ago I first discovered For Goodness Grape and lets just say since I have found her site I only use her lip balms.  I am writing this review simply because I love her products and I want to share them with you.  I wasn’t given anything for this review in fact she doesn’t even know that I am writing it.

The first time I ordered from her I got one that was Pear Berry flavored and I loved it.  In fact is the only lip balm that I have ever used up totally.  When I went back to her site a few weeks ago I was sad to see that she didn’t have that flavor listed anymore so I got a few other flavors and thought I would be okay with them.

After I received them I wished I had just emailed her and got the original flavor that I loved.  I love the new flavors that I got but I did email her and asked her if she would make my favorite flavor for me and she agreed.  I was so happy.  I originally order Asian Pear, Pineapple, & Dr. Pepper.  Out of those 3 the only one I really like is the Asian Pear one.  I loved the smell of the Dr. Pepper one but once I put it on my lips it reminded me of medicine for some reason.  The pineapple one is okay but I don’t reach for it first.

I love these lip balms because there are only great things in them and they feel so good on the lips.  She uses all the best products and they smell the best out of any that I have seen.  I am for sure going to keep buying her products and I recommend them to all of you!

FTC-I bought these products with my own money.  The opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Safe In His Arms by Colleen Coble

Safe-in-His-Arms

About

Sometimes it takes a stranger to see you as you really are.
Under Texas Stars, Book 2
Born and raised on sprawling Texas land, Margaret O’Brien prides herself on her competence as a rancher. But her father believes she’s made for more than just dawn-to-dusk work. He wants her to have the love of a good man, to raise children, to build a life. But Margaret gave up such dreams years ago. She’s convinced no man would have her, that the ranch is her life now.
So when Margaret’s father hires Daniel Cutler as a new foreman, she’s frustrated and suspicious. Then an overheard conversation links him with a gang of bank robbers, and she’s downright worried. Daniel swears he’s not involved, but Margaret’s not convinced. She knows the man still has secrets. But would a criminal be so kind and talk so convincingly of his faith? As a series of tragic “accidents” threatens all she holds dear, Margaret must decide what to trust: her own ears, her best judgment . . . or what her heart keeps telling her.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the writing and I found that I saw a lot of myself in the main character in the book. The author does a great job of explaining things and keeping the story flowing as well as keep the reader in suspense. I wasn’t sure while reading this one if it was going to work out how I thought it should but I was glad when it did.
