Tortured With Love by JT Hunter was a fascinating true crime book.  I had never heard of this case before this book which made me want to read this book.  I have read several books by this author in the past, and I enjoyed this book more than the others because this was a new case for me.  I always wonder what would have happened if these two had never met because I don’t think Martha would have ever killed anyone, but I can’t say the same thing for Raymond.  I do have to say that the choices that Martha made throughout this book shocked me.  I couldn’t believe that she would just abandon her kids and never look back.  I will never understand how Martha was able to walk away and just move on with her life.  I am sure that her kids were better off without her though because I can’t imagine what the kids would have dealt with if she had kept them.  Nothing that Raymond did shock me because I thought right that he was evil and that he would do anything.  Part of me did understand why he did the things that he did because of his life, and because of the head injury that he suffered as a young man.  I can’t say enough good things about this author, and I will keep reading books by him.  If you love true crime, I would pick this book up and check it out because I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Legacy of Secrets by Helen Starbuck

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Legacy of Secrets by Helen Starbuck wasn’t my favorite book.  I found that I had a tough time getting interested in this story.  On the outside, I had everything that I usually love about books, but I just wasn’t the biggest fan of the book for one reason or another.  The fact that this story has an “R” rating didn’t bother me at all. But I am sure that would bother some people.  I didn’t feel like I could connect with any of the characters in this story.  I also felt that certain parts of the book seemed rushed and didn’t make a lot of sense.  I found that I had a hard time following what was going on and because I didn’t connect with the characters, I just got bored.  This is the first book I have read by this author, and I don’t think I would pick up any book by her in the future.  Just because I didn’t enjoy this book doesn’t mean that you or others won’t love it.  That is why I love reviewing and reading other reviews because not every author is for everyone, which wasn’t a good fit for me.

In handling his estate she wonders if she ever really knew him. He never explained why he let his childhood home in Eastern Colorado fall into ruin or why he’d kept the property a secret. And he never told Kate about his close friendship with Evan Hastings, the handsome and somewhat puzzling man who lives on the property near the abandoned house. Evan seems to have as many secrets as her father and knows more about him than Kate did. But there’s something about Evan that calls her back to her father’s home. Something that threatens to unearth more than the past. Legacy of Secrets explores family secrets, a daughter’s grief and her search for answers, and a chance for love.

The Feast by David Vorhees

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Feast by David Vorhees was a good book.  I enjoyed all of the stories in this book, but some stories aren’t for everyone.  If you aren’t into gore and horror stories, then I wouldn’t pick this one up, but if that kind of stuff doesn’t bother you, then I am sure you will enjoy this book as much I did.  I couldn’t bring myself to listen to these books at night, but I wish I would have.  I loved how some of these stories were super short, and others were a little longer.  I enjoyed the variety of different stories included, so I didn’t get bored with just type of account.  I also really enjoyed the narrator of this book.  He was able to change his voice enough that I never got confused about who was talking during the stories.  I  don’t know that I could pick a favorite story because I enjoyed all of them.  I also loved that all of the stories in this book had to do with holidays because that gave it something different.  I also listen to the entire book in one afternoon because I had to know how all stories ended.  I did find that I was able to guess how some of the stories were going to end.  I wasn’t able to figure them all out, and the ones that I couldn’t figure out turned out to be my favorite ones.   If you love horror books, I recommend listening to this book in the dark because I know you will love it.

A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher

A Promise Kept Robin Lee Hatcher
A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher was a good book to read.  This book was so sweet and it was also a book I came to love. In this book you get to follow along with Allison as she is healing from her divorce and trying to figure out everything that comes along with getting a divorce. I loved how this book went between Allison talking and her great aunt Emma talking. I wish I could say more about this book but I don’t want to give anything away. This is such a sweet story and I was glad I read it.

A Promise Kept

About The Book

God was going to save her marriage, Allison was sure of it. But neither her husband nor her marriage had been saved.

What had become of His promise?

Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy . . . but years later, that joy had been extinguished by unexpected trials.

The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised to heal; it was clear that she’d misunderstood.

Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.

As Allison reads the incredible story of Emma’s life in the 1920s and 1930s, she is forced to ask a difficult question: Does she really surrender every piece of her life to the Lord?

Drawing from her own heart-wrenching story of redemption,A Promise Kept is Robin Lee Hatcher’s emotionally charged thanksgiving to a God who answers prayers—in His own time and His own ways.

If The Shoe Fits by Sandra D. Bricker

9780802484031_p0_v1_s260x420

If The Shoe Fits by Sandra D. Bricker was a fun book to read.  I loved parts of this book and other parts I didn’t like.  The author did a great job of making me dislike certain characters while loving other characters.  In this book you get to follow along with Julianne as she dates a man named Paul all while not wanting to admit that she is in love with Will her business partner and best friend.  I have to say that I hated Paul and everytime he was in chapter or Julianne talked about him or to him I wanted to punch the man in the face.  I loved the ending and I was glad that I read this book because I have found an author that can write in a way that makes you truly feel like you know the characters.

About The Book

Julianne used to believe in fairy tales; she’s been watching for Prince Charming to come charging in on his white steed ever since the day her mother read her Cinderella for the first time. But she’s never come close to finding the perfect man-instead she’s always tripping over her childhood best friend, Will. And who finds their Prince Charming on a 10-speed bicycle on the other side of the cul de sac? Well… Julianne does. Only she doesn’t have a clue.

She and Will are attorneys now, and they’ve joined up in private practice in a beautiful Cincinnati office building that overlooks the Ohio River. And then one day Julianne is on her way to court, and runs right smack dab into Prince Charming. But when she looks again, all she finds is a metaphoric sign she is certain came straight from Heaven: The Prince’s toolbox has fallen off the back of his truck, and a work boot along with it. What better way for God to grab the attention of a Cinderella-in-training than to show her a glass slipper…errrr, work boot?…waiting to be reunited with its owner?

So she sets out to track down the mysterious Prince Charming. He’s the most gorgeous guy she’s ever seen…and a caring animal rescuer, too. Surely he must be the soul mate God has prepared her for.

But, Julianne’s prince is starting to look less and less charming all the time. No matter how she tries to romanticize him, he just keeps tumbling down off that dumb pedestal. And with the Bar Association dinner coming up that will honor her for her outstanding charity work over the year, Julianne wants so much for her friends and colleagues to see her with someone besides her best friend Will. To make matters worse, Prince Charming has no designs on wearing a penguin suit and attending a stuffy old dinner. With her pride pressing in on her like sticks from a cactus, Julianne sinks to the bottom of the proverbial barrel and actually offers to pay Paul to be her date.

Julianne is on a collision course with God’s perfect plan for her life…if only she could open her eyes and see it before it’s too late

A Miracle Of Hope by Ruth Reid

A Miracle of Hope

A Miracle Of Hope by Ruth Reid was a great book.  I read this book in a day and a half because I was so drawn in by the characters and I wanted to know what had happened to Lindie. I loved how the author could make me feel as if I was there with the characters and I also could understand why the characters would do the things that they did. There has been only 2 other books that have brought me to tears and this will be the third one. There are so many points in this book that I wanted to cry and that tears did gather in my eyes. I loved this book and I can’t wait to read the books that will come in this series.

About The Book

Book One in the Amish Wonders series.

How far can God’s mercy reach?

Lindie Wyse is pregnant out of wedlock and thinks an arranged marriage is the only way to preserve her future.
