First Concert

My First Concert

The first concert I attend (or at least I think it was my first) was NSYNC.  I was in 7th or 8th grade.  I went with one of my best friends back then.  I can still remember waiting in line to buy the tickets months and months before the show.  I remember every little detail about the show and remember how I was the day after the show.

I remember I was super sad and depressed because I had looked forward to going to see them for months and months and then it was over and I felt like I didn’t have anything else to look forward to.  I remember that my grandma laughed at me when I told her why I was sad and now that I look back at it I have to laugh as well.  It crazy how I looked at things when I was younger and how  big this concert was build up in my head.  I did go and see them one more time along with a few other boy bands that were popular at the time.

Now that I am an adult I tend to want to go and see more comedians than music stars.  I have seen Jeff Dunham twice and I loved every second of those shows.  I stake his website so I will know when he come back and my brother and I can go and see him again.  It is weird to me that I love music so much but the thought of going to a musical concert makes me head hurt now.  When I was younger I loved the loud music at concerts and now I don’t think I would be able to stay through the whole thing no matter how much I loved the show.

Who did you see for your first concert? Do you like to see comedians or music stars more?

One Random Song

Random Song

This week for the writers workshop #3 which is: Pick up your iPod or phone or whatever stores your music and press shuffle…what comes up first? Tell us about that song choice.  I have almost 2000 songs on my iPod so I went to a playlist that I listen to the most because it is a true mix of music and scrolled down and just picked on random song and the song that came up was: Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous by Good Charlotte.

This song is super old because I believe I first heard it when I was in high school.   There isn’t much to really say about this song other than I still like it and love to listen to it when it gets played on my iPod.    The music video makes me laugh and let’s be honest there really isn’t much to the song so I am not sure why it has stuck with me so long but it has and I can’t get enough of songs like this.

What random song do you love?

***As a side note I googled when the song was released and it was in the fall of 2002 so that would have been my senior year of high school.

May 2013 Favorites

May Favorites

It is that time of the month again and here are some of the things I have loved during the month of May.

  • Here are a list of books that I have totally loved during the month of May: Catching A Falling Star, Once Upon A Prince, A Noble Groom, & The Cat That God Sent.  The review on Catch A Falling Star will go live on Tuesday the 4th of June.  If you ever are in need a good book to read let me know because I read pretty much everything.
  • I loved changing up my cell phone case’s often.  I am not sure how many I have but I have tons and I keep buying new ones because they are a good deal.  I am going to do a post in the coming weeks on all of my cases.
  • I had this in my favorites a few months ago but it is still something I use almost all day long and that is my iPod.  I love it even more since my laptop has died and I don’t have access to my music that was on there.
  • I just discovered this song at the end of the month but since I bought the song I have basically had it on repeat and it is pretty much all I listen to.  I have been loving Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.  Here is the link to the music video.   I can’t help but smile when I watch it.
  • I have been loving the new Brown Rice Baked with Sweet Potato Triscuits in the Roasted Sweet Onion flavor.  One I start eating a box I tend to eat the whole thing in just one sitting.  If you have never heard of these click here to see and read about them.

Those are some of the things I loved during the month of May.

What did you love during May?

Musical Monday-Green Day

I haven’t posted a song on Mondays for a long time but I have wanted to post a song by Green Day and I figured that I would post it this week.  I am sure some of you know that I love music.  I literally always have music playing and I can’t ever get enough of it.  I listen to pretty much anything and the past few weeks I have been loving “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams” by Green Day.  This is my favorite part of the song:

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
When the city sleeps
And I’m the only one and I walk alone

I love this song because the lyrics that I have listed up above is so how I feel a lot of the time.  I know that I am on the one responsible for the reasons I am alone.  Most days I am okay with this but there are days where it does get lonely and today is one of those days.

Roads

A few months back I wrote a post about the new Chris Mann album and  I have since fallen in love with the the song called Roads.  Below I have posted the lyrics &  the video so that you can see what I am talking about before I tell you why I love the song.

There are roads in this life that we all travel
There are scars and there are battles where we roam
When we are lost or wherever we may go
They will always lead you home

There are roads that have lead me to another
To a friend or to a lover I have known
For every turn is a year that I have grown
As I walk along these roads

Some are long and some are weathered
Some will lead you through a storm
When you’ve gone astray you will find your way
As you walk along these roads

There were times when I stumbled and I wondered
But every choice and every step I don’t regret
Cause I have lived and I have loved like no other
I won’t fear what lies ahead

Some are long and some are weathered
Some will lead you through a storm
When you’ve gone astray you will find your way
As you walk along these roads

There are roads in this life that I have traveled
There are scars and there are battles, these I know
Cause I’d be lost but no matter where I go
They will one day lead me home
They will one day lead me home

I am sure most of you know by now that I love music.  I always seem to find songs that fit perfectly into my life at the certain moment in time.  I received this CD in order for me to review it and I listened to it a few times and thought it was good but it ended up in my car and I didn’t listen it again up until last week.  When I randomly put in the CD while I was on my way home from work the title track just hit me differently than it did when I first heard it.  I really can’t even pick just one part of the song because I love everything the song says.

I have had a lot of personal things going on that I haven’t blogged about and I don’t think I will ever blog about and this song describes how I have been feeling lately about my life and where I see myself going.  I look at my life and I realize more than anything that this song is so true.

Since my daughters birthday this past July I have decided that I am going to go down a road that I have known I need to go down for awhile but I have been too scared to make the first step.  Now that I have been on this road for a few months I know without a doubt that this where I need to be and I finally happy with where I am at.   For the first time in years I can honestly say I am the happiest I  have been.  That being said there are things and people that I miss dearly but I know I am where I should be right now.

This is the verse that I keep reading over and over in my head.

There were times when I stumbled and I wondered
But every choice and every step I don’t regret
Cause I have lived and I have loved like no other
I won’t fear what lies ahead

I have learned that I will never regret and of the choices and decisions I have made because without all of them I wouldn’t be the person I am today.  I also am not going to live my life fearing the future because everything that happens is meant to be and will make me an even stronger person.
