Oops!: Tales of the Zombie Turkey Apocalypsewas a fun book and is my favorite book in the series. I enjoyed this one because it was a bunch of short stories, and I always enjoy those books. I love that each story is short enough that I don’t get bored. I loved the stories that didn’t have anything to do with zombies because zombies aren’t something that I usually enjoy. I did enjoy the stories about zombie vegetables, though, because I think that would be great if it happened. I also found that some of the stories in this book made me laugh more than any of the other three books in this series. I also want to find a time machine because I would love to go back in time and see things that happened. I would recommend listening to the other stories before this one if you don’t want any spoilers, but if that doesn’t bother you, then I would pick this one up first. If you are looking for a funny book to read I would recommend this one because I am sure you will enjoy it just like I did.

Synopsis: Accidents happen. Especially around zombie turkeys. Then you add zombie humans, and problems proliferate. Mix in some ill-planned genetic engineering, and things get crazy.
The insanity continues, from the story where zombies are merged with cucumbers to the one where two basement-dwelling nerds gain access to all video content from the past two hundred years – from aliens.
Andy Zach pulls out all the stops on his imagination as he serves up this smorgasbord of silliness. Try it. Laughter is good for your soul.
About The Author
Andy Zach was born Anastasius Zacharias, in Greece. His parents were both zombies. Growing up, he loved animals of all kinds. After moving to the United States as a child, in high school, he won a science fair by bringing toads back from suspended animation. Before turning to fiction, Andy published his Ph.D. thesis “Methods of Revivification for Various Species of the Kingdom Animalia” in the prestigious JAPM, Journal of Paranormal Medicine. Andy, in addition to being the foremost expert on paranormal animals, enjoys breeding phoenixes. He lives in Illinois with his five phoenixes.
With his first book, “Zombie Turkeys” Andy blazed new ground in paranormal humor. The second book in his Life After Life Chronicles, “My Undead Mother-in-law” expands the zombie plague from turkeys to humans, with hilarious results. You can find both volumes on Amazon Kindle, Createspace print, and Audible audiobook editions.
Not content to keep in zombies earthbound, Andy puts them afloat in his third book, “Paranormal Privateers”. Just when you thought every funny zombie trope had been explored, new humorous horizons open up. You can get “Paranormal Privateers” in Kindle and print formats. The audiobook is available now on Audible.
Having conquered paranormal animal humor in his first series, Andy Zach launches into middle school superhero genre with Secret Supers. Four disabled seventh graders all get superpowers. Paranormal Privateers by Andy Zack was an interesting book but was also super long. I would listen to this book for a couple of hours and then I would have to walk away and come back with it. This is the third book in the series and I would recommend listening to the whole series in order or you might get confused. I did find it easier to keep track of who was talking and how the characters are related. I enjoyed this book but not as much as the second book but it enjoyed it way more than I did the first book. I think part of my problem is the fact that I am listening to the whole series in about a month so I am just tired of the series right now. I am going to go back and listen to this book in the future so I can see if I feel the same way after some time has passed. With that being said this book did a great job of distracting me from all of the craziness that is happening in the world right now. If you love comedy or are looking for a new series of books I would give this one a shot.

Scarlet Oaks and the Serial Caller by Michaela James was a good audiobook. I really enjoyed the characters in this story and I was always left trying to figure out which person was the most insane in her group of friends and family. These are the types of characters that I wish I knew in real life because they are a never-ending source of entertainment. I really enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook and I wouldn’t be mad if I were to listen to other books that she reads. I loved listening to this book because it wasn’t super intense but it did give me an escape from all of the crazy events that are happening right now. I did enjoy the comedic parts of this book and those moments are the reason that I finished the entire audiobook in just a couple of days. I also enjoyed the author’s writing and I can’t wait to see what crazy things the characters are going to do next. There is one more book in this series that I am going to review next week so come back then to see how I feel about this series then.

The Corridor by Vic Neal was a great book to listen to. It took my mind off of what is happening in the world and that made me love this book even more. I am not someone who finds books funny but this one made me laugh out loud more times than I can count. I was also intrigued by this book because I don’t know much about Oxford and that kept me interested in the story and the characters. Right from the start, I felt like the characters in this book were real people and I was always left thinking how crazy they all were. I loved that the narrator is from the UK because it made the story come to life for me. He was also easy to understand so I was still able to understand him and listen to it at a faster speed. If you are looking for a book to listen to/read that will take your mind off of what is going on in the world I would give this one a shot.

A must-listen book for anyone thinking of becoming a prime minister/anarchist.

Three Strikes by Ross Klavan, Tim O’Mara, & Charles Salzberg was a super fun book to read. I do want to say that my favorite story out of the three was “Jammed” because I loved what his job was, and it left me with a smile on my face. I had a really hard time taking the story to seriously because of everything that happened. If I am being honest I had a really hard time staying interested in the other two books and I am not sure why. I do love books like this though because if I get bored with one of the stories I can move on to the next one and come back to the other one later. I would by this book again all for the middle story because I just fell in love that story right from the start. If you are looking for something different to read I would pick up a copy of this book and check it out. Have you read it and if so what did you think of it?

I Take Care of Myself in Dreamland
by Ross Klavan
Bartok is horribly scarred. Wounded in the Army, he roams through 1970’s New York, a city of perpetual night, punctuated by crime and populated by streetwalkers, hooker bars, strip clubs, easy drugs and a feeling of doom. There’s one thing on his mind: an experience he had when his Army truck exploded, an experience he calls Red River. More than bliss, more than spiritual. But nothing goes right. Bartok loses his girl, his money, any possibility of support and decides that he’s finished, he’s going to end it but before he does, he’s going out on the town for one last attempt to recapture the incredible experience of Red River. And when he does, he runs into others who see him as an easy mark for dirtier plans…plans that involve murder before suicide.
Bartok’s story is told by a driver for the mob, a guy who’s heard it all and usually keeps his mouth shut because when he begins a trip, it’s almost always one-way.
Jammed
by Tim O’Mara
Aggie’s back. After barely escaping with his life in “Smoked,” Aggie disproves the old adage of “Once burned…” This time around he’s heading from the Midwest to New York City with a sweet shipment of stolen maple syrup. He also has picked up an unwanted-and potentially dangerous-passenger; the fifteen-year-old daughter of his latest boss has hopped on for a free ride to the Big Apple and her on-line boyfriend. When they arrive in NYC, Aggie’s worst fears are realized when the “boyfriend” turns out to be a group of human traffickers. Aggie knew that running one of the world’s most valuable liquids across state lines was skirting the line between safety and danger, but he never knew it could get this sticky.
The Maybrick Affair
by Charles Salzberg
It’s a couple weeks before the attack on Pearl Harbor and a young reporter, Jake Harper, who works for a small Connecticut newspaper, is assigned a routine human interest story. A reclusive, elderly woman, has quietly passed away in her small cottage upstate. Anxious for bigger stories, Jake begins his assignment by trying to find out who this woman was and what kind of life she led. As Jake investigates the old woman’s death he finds that years earlier she was tried and convicted of murdering her husband in a well-publicized, lurid trial in London, England. And, after digging further, he, unearths evidence that she might have had a connection to an even more famous British serial killer and that the ramifications of this story might affect America’s entry into the War.

Golden Gremlin by Rod A. Walters was a fun book read. Before I get into the review of this book I wanted to say that this author might be one of my favorites because of the crazy things that happened while I was waiting for this book in the mail. The first book that I was sent got lost all I got of that book was the thank you note from the author. So the author sent me 2 more copies, and I also got a digital copy as well. I wish people would ship things with UPS or FedEx because it is less likely that book will get lost using those companies.
Anyway, let’s get on to my thoughts about this book. I loved that this book was a bunch of short stories because it allowed me to put the book down and read it around other books I was reading. Most of the short stories always left a smile on my face, and there were also ones that I agreed with one hundred percent. If you are looking for a book to give as a gift for a parent or friend, I would recommend this one because I think it is one that most people will enjoy and you don’t have to read it all right away. You can read a story or two and then come back to it when you have more time. I loved this book, and it will be one that I keep in my personal collection of books.

Book Title: Golden Gremlin: A Vigorous Push from Misanthropes and Geezers
Author: Rod A. Walters
Category: Adult Non-Fiction, 228 pages
Genre: Humor
Publisher: Omega Man Press
Release date: November 2016
Tour dates: Feb 12 to 23, 2018
Content Rating: PG-13 + M (Mild and indirect innuendo to both sex genitalia, a short essay about the fictional “AssBook,” an essay on current health-care talk, a teaser “is his cord long enough?” to get readers to choose a short piece on electric cars next, etc.)
Written to make Dave Barry, Lily Tomlin, and Ben Stein laugh, Golden Gremlin: A Vigorous Push from Misanthropes and Geezers delivers the experience of a balanced life, and the wisdom to like most of it, and then laugh at the rest of it. What the heck, Barry lives in Miami, habitat of geezers, and Ben Stein is one. The world really needs that push, vigorous or gentle, from misanthropes & geezers, the world’s most valuable golden gremlins. Misanthropes pretend to not like or need other people, but in reality, they merely prefer their own company much of the time. Geezers, aside from that silly name, also like their own company quite well. Both share the virtue of seeing the world calmly. You get pointy bite-sized life pointers from these experienced gremlins, told in easy bite-size chunks. Laughter included in the price! Two out of three wouldn’t be bad either.
Life is good! So laugh a little at yourself on the way through these pointy essays, and that will buy your laughing at the world’s simpler parts, guilt-free.
Golden Gremlin comprises about 70 short essays bundled into six topic areas:
NATURE: boys, ugly drivers, and coffee cups in the ‘fridge.
WORDS: the real meaning of Caucasian and Genre.
BUSINESS: deafness at the economics conference, and getting on AssBook.
KITCHENS: sushi chefs, and truth about manna.
HISTORY: when Hell froze, and Attila the Honey.
Golden boy gets to be GOLDEN GREMLIN: experience overcomes certainty.
What things could possibly be more important!
About The Author
Rod Walters lives and writes in upstate New York to prove he can be an all-season writer. Since he wants everybody to be all-season persons no matter her or his circumstance, his writing aims sharply toward the practical—without turning into one of those godawful do it ma’ way authors. Life, after all, is practical hour by hour. Self-described as “old enough to know better, and he probably is,” his former life as Army officer, engineer, and administrative assistant could not have better prepared him to write both light and more serious short pieces pointing to creating a balanced life. Chuckling at yourself usually makes a good takeoff, he says. Giving up having to be certain makes for a good landing, especially for one’s friends! Then again, who the heck wants to live a balanced life? Mostly everybody does. That’s why he now writes. Although many friends nudge and badger him to be a Facebook and Twitter butterfly, he tries not to spend many numbing hours a day with circular keyboard tapping. Writing works better.
