Catch Me If You Can by Carrie Marston

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Book Look in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Catch Me If You Can by Carrie Marston wasn’t my favorite book.  This is probably because this book was written for middle/high school students and to me, it didn’t seem to be organized well.  I was able to read this book in about an hour.  I think any teenagers that read this book would probably be able to relate to the characters and enjoy this book but because I am so much older than the characters I just couldn’t stay interested in this book.

About The Book

Meet fifteen-year-old Laura, who thinks her name is plain, her stepmom’s insane, and her stepbrother is lame. Enter a new friend and new grade in high school, a sister she never sees, a mom she doesn’t want to see, and a sister she didn’t want to happen, and you’ve got big problems! The last thing Laura expects is for someone to understand. Hopefully it will happen before it’s too late.

Summer Plans And Other Disasters by Karin Beery

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Read with Audra in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Summer Plans And Other Disasters by Karin Beery was a book that I judge because of the cover and once I started reading this book I fell in love.  This is one of those times that I did judge a book by the cover and I was proved wrong because the book was amazing.  I am so glad that this book reminded me that you shouldn’t judge a book by the cover.  I am pretty sure that this is the first book that I have read by this author and I am going to read other books by her in the future because I loved this book.  This book was an easy read for me and one that I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen but that didn’t bother me in the least.  I was able to read this book in about a day and a half so if you are looking for a sweet book to read this month I would recommend this book to you especially if you love chick lit books.

About The Book

Elementary school music teacher Callie Stevens thinks she’s finally figured out God’s plan for her life—she even made a list to keep her on track.

Moving in with her brother and reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend are at the top of the list. What’s not on the list is running into her childhood crush, Ryan. God wanted her to connect with Kyle, right?

Trying to figure out God’s plan is hard enough. But a dating-averse older brother, the young blonde who adores him, a pregnant best friend, and Callie’s continual mishaps make her wonder whether her best laid plans were truly God-inspired.

Murder By Perfection by Lauren Carr

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Murder by Perfection by Lauren Carr was a great story, but I didn’t like the narrator of this book.  At this point, I have read quite a few books by this author and I have liked them all or at least I think I have.  I have listened to several audiobooks as well and this is the first time that I haven’t like the narrator.  Since I didn’t like the narrator it was hard for me to listen to this book.  I had to listen to his book as I was driving to get through it all because I just found myself bored and annoyed when I listened to it while I was working.  For this book, I would recommend just picking up a physical copy of the book and not the audiobook version unless you know that this narrator doesn’t bother you.  All in all, I really did enjoy the story of this book and I wait to see what comes in this series.

Death by the River by Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Death by the River by Alexandrea Weis & Lucas Astor wasn’t my favorite book because I couldn’t stand Beau right from the start of the book.  I had a hard time staying interested in this story because I didn’t feel like I was able to connect with any of the characters.  This book did keep me wondering what was going to happen and that is the reason that I kept reading it because it did keep me on the edge of my seat as I was reading it.  It did have a lot of suspense and I loved that part of the book.  I also must wonder if because most of the characters are teenagers that is why I had a hard time connecting with the characters.  I think if you love mystery type books than I would give this one a shot because it did keep me guessing right up until the end of the book.  I also wanted to add that I loved this cover and that is why I decided to give this book a try.

A Mother’s Lie by Jo Crow

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partner’s In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

A Mother’s Lie by Jo Crow was an audiobook that once I started listening to it I didn’t stop until I finished it.  I loved this book right from the start and once it was over I missed Clara because I really enjoyed her personality.  I also enjoyed the narrator that was used for this audiobook.  I enjoyed her voice and that is part of the reason that enjoyed this book as much as I did.  One of the things that I have been loving about audiobooks is the fact that I can turn the reading speed up so that I can listen to the book faster than what it is originally read it.  I used to hate how slow audiobooks went but now that I can I increase the speed I love them.  I am lucky to have a job where I can listen to books as I work so they are becoming one of my favorite ways to read books.

Anyway, let’s get back to the review of this book.  It took me a day and a half to get through this book because once I started listening I didn’t want to stop listening until I was through with the book and I know how it all ended.  I know that I am going to listen to more books by this narrator because I loved her voice and I am also going to read more books by this author because I loved this book and her style of writing.  If you are looking for a good thriller to read this October I would say pick this one up but even more than that I would say check out the audiobook version of this book because it is amazing, and I loved it.  Do you like listening to audiobooks and if so who is your favorite narrator.

A month later, she took the leap, quit her job, and sat down for weeks with pen to paper. The words for her first manuscript just flew from her. Now she spends her days reading and writing, dreaming up new ideas for domestic noir fans, and drawing from her own experiences in the cut-throat commercial sector.

Not one to look back, Jo is all in, and can’t wait for her next book to begin.

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Scar Tissue by Patricia Hale was another amazing book that I also enjoyed.  I have been super interested in books like this one lately and I have added this author to my list because I can’t wait to read more books by her in the future.  I also hope that she writes more books with these characters in the future because I really fell in love with them as I was reading this book.  This book did keep me on the edge of my seat as I was reading, and it kept me reading because I had to know how it all ended.  I can’t say enough good things about this book because I loved everything about this book and the authors writing.  I loved that this book had parts of the medical industry in it because that is where my heart is.  I always love books that involve that kind of stuff so that is another reason that I loved this book.  If you love books that have medical things in them along with a good mystery than I know you will love this book as much as I did.
