Taking Control: Rick’s Story by Morgan Malone was a sweet book.  I felt bad for Rick and Britt because of everything they had to go through to get to this point in their lives.  I was able to read this book in couple of days and the end of the book left me smiling.  I did find that it was kind of predictable but that is just what happens when I read these types of books.  I am sure that most people would enjoy this book because it was an easy read and sweet story.  I really did enjoy this author’s writing and I will be checking out more books by her in the future.  If you are someone who loves to read chick-lit than I am sure you will enjoy this book just as much as I did.

About The Book

Title: TAKING CONTROL: RICK’S STORY
Author: Morgan Malone
Publisher: Independent
Pages: 170
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Summer on the Jersey Shore and all Rick Sheridan wants is some solitude at his beach house. Then he spots a lean, leggy blonde coming out of the surf and his plans are shot to hell. And the dangerous looking knife strapped to her arm tells him this is no damsel in distress. As a not-so retired Marine, at 51, Rick’s learned that nothing is for certain, plans can spin out of control and shit happens.

Wounded and weary from one too many wars, Britt Capshaw thought a summer at the Shore, hanging out in her family’s beach cottage, would help her heal. And figure out what to do with the rest of her life. Out of the military, disillusioned and distrustful of any two-legged male, Britt’s one love is Alex, the yellow Labrador retriever she rescued from Afghanistan.

Rick and Britt are immediately attracted to one another, but after years in combat, they are wary of letting down their guard, of giving up control. The summer heats up and fireworks are flying between them even after the Fourth of July. But, ghosts from their pasts haunt them and finally bring them face to face with some dark secrets that may destroy the fragile trust they’ve built.

Can Britt trust Rick with her dangerous past? Will Rick be able to let go of the rigid control he needs to keep Britt and himself safe from more heartbreak? These two brave souls fight against surrendering their hearts and finally finding love. Who will win?

About The Author

Morgan Malone is the pen name of a retired lawyer who turned in her judicial robes to write romantic memoir and sexy contemporary romance, which always features silver foxes and the independent women who tame them.

Morgan fell in love with romantic heroes after reading her mother’s first edition of “Gone with the Wind” when she was 12 years old. Rhett Butler became the standard by which she measured all men. Some have met the mark, most have failed to even come close and one or two surpassed even Rhett’s dark and dangerous allure.

Morgan lives near Saratoga Springs, NY with her beloved chocolate Lab. She can be found on occasion drinking margaritas and dancing at local hostelries, but look for her most often in independent book stores and the library, searching for her next great love in tales of romance, history, adventure and lust. When she can’t find the perfect man, she retreats to her upstairs office and creates him, body and soul, for her pleasure and for yours. Remember: love, like wine, gets better with age.

Her recent novel is the contemporary romance, Taking Control: Rick’s Story.

Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis was another great book by this author.  I have read all the books in this series and I believe that I liked them all.  You don’t have to read all the books if you aren’t interested in them because they all can be read as stand-alone books.  I have to say that I enjoyed Molly throughout this entire book because I could see a lot of myself in her.  I also loved that she kept Lucas thinking that the had slept together even though they didn’t.  I spent a good part of this book just smiling because of Molly and Lucas and the things that happened to both.  If you are looking for a sweet story to read this fall than I know you will enjoy this book.

About The Book

Who needs mistletoe?

Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .

Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

It Began With A Lie by Michele Pariza Wacek

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Barclay Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

It Began with A Lie by Michele Pariza Wacek was one of those books that once I started reading the book I didn’t want to put it down until I was finished with it.  I think this is the first book I have read by this author and I am going to read more books by her in the future because I really loved this book.  I spent the entire booking waiting to find out what happened to Becca before this book started.  I felt bad for Becca because of how her stepdaughter and husband treated her.  I did wish that she would have kicked them both to the curb.  I was so interested in this book that I was able to read it a couple of days which hasn’t been the case for me lately because I have been getting bored super easy with most books.  I think that most people would enjoy this book and it is an easy book to read.  Have you read this book and if so did you like it?

A fresh start. That was what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin, would be for her troubled family—a way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter.

But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers … a past that includes complications from interacting with her teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt’s old house (aka “The Witch House,” according to locals).

But is the house really haunted? Or is there something far more sinister out to destroy them?

No End Of Bad by Ginny Fite

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

No End Of Bad by Ginny Fite was a book that I wasn’t the biggest fan of but I also didn’t want to stop reading it.  I just kept reading this book and I can’t say why for sure.  I wanted to know how it was all going to end but I didn’t really like the characters in this book.  Well I didn’t like most of the characters in this book, but Lenore did grow on me because I have a think for strong female characters and I loved that most of the men in this book didn’t like her.  I know part of the reason I didn’t like this book is because I am so over politics and even though this book doesn’t have ton of them it still has some and it made it hard for me to want to read it.  I was able to read this book in a few days and it was quick read and did keep reading it even though I wasn’t one hundred percent interested in the book.  I didn’t figure out what was going to happen in this book, so I did enjoy it at the end.  If books that have some politics in it don’t bother you than I would check this one out.

A Fatal Obsession by James Hayman

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

A Fatal Obsession by James Hayman wasn’t the best book that I have read lately but it still did enjoy the story.  I think part of the problem was that I didn’t like the detectives in this story, so I didn’t want them to figure it out.   I wasn’t the biggest fan of Tyler either, but I did like him more than the other characters.  I always love when authors make me hate some of the character because it means that the author did a great job of making the characters come alive for me.  At times I felt like this book was moving too slow for me and yet at other times I did wish that he had spent more time on things.  I was able to read this book in a couple of days because it was a super easy read for me.  Anyone that loves to read books about serial killers I think would enjoy this book. If you have read this book what did you think of it.

“James Hayman’s edgy, ingenious novels rival the best of Lisa Gardner, Jeffery Deaver, and Kathy Reichs. A Fatal Obsession is his finest to date: a ferocious live-wire thriller starring two of the most appealing cops in contemporary fiction.” —A.J. Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window

Zoe McCabe is a beautiful young actress on the verge of stardom who has been basking in the standing ovations and rave reviews she’s been getting from critics and fans alike for her portrayal of Desdemona in an off-Broadway production of Othello. As she takes her final bows, Zoe has no idea that, seated in the audience, a man has been studying her night after night, performance after performance. A man whose carefully crafted plans are for the young actress to take a starring role in a far deadlier production he has created just for her.

Portland, Maine detectives Mike McCabe and Maggie Savage are settling into the new rhythm of their relationship when McCabe gets a late night call from his brother Bobby that Zoe, McCabe’s favorite niece and Bobby’s daughter, has suddenly disappeared. The NYPD is certain Zoe’s abduction is the work of the man the tabloids have dubbed “The Star Struck Strangler,” a killer who has been kidnapping, abusing and finally strangling one beautiful young performer after another. Bobby begs McCabe to return to the New York City crime beat he’d left behind so many years ago, to work his old connections, and to help find Zoe before her time runs out. The stakes for McCabe and Savage have never been higher. Or more personal. And suddenly the race is on to stop a vicious attacker, before the McCabe family is torn apart beyond repair.

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from iRead Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Mind’s Eye by Perry Prete was a unique book.  I can’t think of any other book that I have read that was like this book.  I love when I do find a book that isn’t like anything else that I have read because it always makes me want to read the book even more.  Right from the start of this book I didn’t want to put it down because I had to know how it was going to end but I also wanted to know more about the characters and how they all connected to each other.  Every time I thought that I had this book figured out it would change, and I was always left confused about how in the heck I didn’t see things coming.  I loved that this book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book.  If you are looking for something different than you have read in awhile than I would give this book a chance because I am sure that it is different from anything else, you have ever read.  I also have to say that I think the cover of this book in amazing and it is what made me give this book a chance so even though they tell you not to judge a book by the cover I did, and the book is also amazing.
