Distortion by Terri Blackstock

Terri Blackstock Distortoin
Distortion by Terri Blackstock was an amazing book.  From the moment I started this book I was sucked in. I loved this book and I loved the characters. The author does a great job of making you feel as if you are there with them. I read the first book in the series and I was so glad to get to check in with all the characters again. In this book you follow along with Juliet and her sisters as they investigate Juliet’s husband murder. From the start of the book I had an idea of who the bad guy was but I didn’t expect it to take some of the turns it took. And it was talking turns right up until the last few chapters.

Distortion

About The Book

Juliet Cole’s life has been dismantled by the murder of her husband. She doesn’t know who—or what—to trust when everything she has believed to be true about her marriage has been a lie.

A husband’s lies can have deadly consequences.

When Juliet Cole’s husband of fifteen years is murdered before her eyes, she thinks it was a random shooting. Devastated and traumatized, she answers hours of questioning, then returns home to break the tragic news to her boys. But a threatening voicemail takes this from a random shooting to a planned, deliberate attack.

Juliet realizes that she and her children are in danger too, unless she meets the killers’ demands. But as she and her sisters untangle the clues, her husband’s dark secrets come to light. The more she learns, the more of her life is dismantled. Was her husband an innocent victim or a hardened criminal?

The Thief by Stephanie Landsem

the thief stephanie landsem
The Thief by Stephanie Landsem was an interesting book but hard for me to read.  I loved the authors writing but I couldn’t get into this book. I think because it takes place during biblical times it is hard for me relate to and get into. I grew up hearing the bible stories so I thought I would be able to get into but I just wasn’t able to get into it. I did like the characters and it was a good book to read it just wasn’t the book for me.

Rachel Hauck Princess Ever After
Princess Ever After by Rachel Hauck was a great book.  This is the 2nd book in the Royal wedding series if you want to check out my review of the first book you can click here.  I have to say that from the first chapter of this book I was hooked.  I love this series of books because they remind me of the movie “The Princess Diaries”.  I love this authors writing really draws me in and I love the premise of these stories.  In this one you get to follow along with Regina as she learns that she is a princess and they need her to go back and run her country.  You also have the bad characters that throw a wrench in whole thing but it is a super sweet book.  If you love romance novels than I know you will love everything about this book.

The Sinners Garden by William Sirls

William Sirls The Sinners' Garden
The Sinners Garden by William Sirls was a interesting book to say the least.  This book was really hard for me to get into.  I did love the authors writing and his characters but the plot and storyline just wasn’t for me.  There are times as I was reading this book I found myself thinking that there is no way that it could have happened and I think that was the hardest part for me.  I do want to check out other books by this author  but this particular book just wasn’t for me.

TheSinnersGarden

About The Book

In the small Lake Erie township of Benning, someone is at work cultivating a supernatural garden . . .

Andy Kemp’s young life has been as ravaged as his scarred face. Disfigured by an abusive father, the teenager hides behind his books and an impenetrable wall of cynicism and anger.

As Andy’s mother struggles to reconnect with him, his Uncle Rip returns transformed from a stint in prison and wants to be a mentor to the reclusive boy, doing everything he can to help end Andy’s pain. When Andy begins hearing strange music through his iPod and making near-prophetic announcements, Rip is convinced that what Andy is hearing is the voice of God.

Elsewhere, police officer Heather Gerisch responds to a late-night breaking and entering in one of the poorest homes in town. She soon realizes that the masked prowler has left thousands of dollars in gift cards from a local grocery store.
As the bizarre break-ins continue and Heather pursues the elusive “Summer Santa,” Andy and Rip discover an enormous and well-kept garden of wildflowers that seems to have grown overnight at an abandoned steel mill.

Soon, they realize who the gardener is, and a spree of miracles transfigures this small town from a place of hopelessness into a place of healing and beauty.

Smitten Book Club

Smitten Book Club Coble, Hunter, Billerbeck, Hunt

Smitten Book Club was a fun book to read.  I really enjoyed this book I just wish each of the stories were longer and maybe their own books. I hated how the endings always seemed rushed. Other than that though I loved this book just as much as I loved the other 2 in the series. I can’t wait to see if they write another one because it is such a fun idea and the authors work so well together.

Smitten Book Club

About The Book

The century-oldGentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship is no ordinary book club choice. But for the little book club in Smitten, Vermont, it might be their best pick yet!

The thick, leathery tome Heather pulled out of the dusty cardboard box was definitely coming home with her. Not only was The Gentlewoman’s Guide to Love and Courtship an appealing curiosity by virtue of its title; it was also written by Smitten, Vermont native Pearl Chambers, a local gentlewoman from three generations back.
Little did Heather know the repercussions this little curiosity would have on her and her friends’ romantic exploits.
When Heather and her fellow book club members begin passing the book around, their respective interpretations are unleashed on their respective love lives . . . for better or for worse. Is it a mystery? An idealist fantasy? An intimation of Jane Austen? As romantic love finds its way to each woman, the Guide proves itself both surprisingly prescient and hilariously irrelevant.
What’s more, a handwritten inscription indicates that the arcane book might hold the only extant clues leading to buried gold—exactly what one of the members needs to keep her house. How could they not go treasure hunting?
In this remarkable collaborative novel, besties Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck, Denise Hunter, and Diann Hunt tackle the tale of the Gentlewoman’s Guide by writing for one book club member apiece. Smitten Book Club is a hopeful, hilarious story of friendship and healing, written by friends for friends.

Barbara Cameron A Road Unknown
A Road Unknown by Barbara Cameron was a great book.  I read this book in a few days because I had to know what happened and how things turned out for Elizabeth.  This is the first book I have read by this author and I can’t wait to read more and to also read the next book in this series.  I have to say that I was so glad that she didn’t end up with Bruce because from the moment the introduced him I really couldn’t stand him.  I love how this book turned out and I can’t wait to read the next one.
