Kidnap by Sally Ann Melia Part 1 was a different book for me to read. I am trying to branch out and try other genre’s of books that I wouldn’t usually read and I am glad that I did because I really enjoyed this book. I grew up watching Star Trek and this book reminded me of that show. I really did enjoy this book and it was a super easy read for me. Sometimes books that are easy for me to read don’t really hold my attention but this book held my attention and I can’t wait to read the next book so I know what happens next. I also loved the pictures that were placed in the book. I liked being able to see what the characters looked like to the author. It also helped me follow along a little better because I could put an actually picture with some of the characters. All in all I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I would recommend this to anyone who loves sci-fi or someone who is looking for a different type of book to read.

About The Author
The author was born in Wallasey, England, in 1964, and moved to the South of France when she was eleven. She spent her teenage years living in the cosmopolitancity state of Monaco and became immersed in its many languages and cultures. An English girl in a French school, for three hours each week she would sit at the back of the class as her colleagues learnt English. To pass the time, she wrote stories. This led to a lifetime of writing novels, scripts, stories and articles.In her working life, Sally writes marketing communications and manages large international websites.In 2010, Sally joined the Hogs Back Writers, a club located on the outskirts of Guildford, and she set about turning an old manuscript into this novel: Guy Erma and the Son of Empire. Sally currently lives in Farnham, and she is married with two children.
Visiting The Sins by Melanie Denman was an interesting book to read. I am going to start by saying that if you are offended by some swearing than this book isn’t for you. The only reason I say that is because it happens throughout this book. It didn’t happen a ton and it wasn’t anything that bothered me but it may bother some other people. I had a hard time reading this book at times because one of the last names of one of the characters is the same last name of someone I know so it was weird for me to read this book and not think of the person I know.
Anyway lets get back to the review of this book. This book did make me smile while I was reading it quite often. I have to say that my favorite character was Pokey and that is because she reminded me of people I used to work with when I worked at the nursing home as a CNA. I wasn’t a huge fan of Rebanelle and I am not 100% sure why but she really did get on my nerves. I loved reading this story and see things through the characters eyes. I loved how different people narrated throughout the whole book so you were always getting different views and that is always a fun change from books where just one character narrates the story. I really did enjoy this book and I can’t wait to read other books by this author.

About The Author
Melanie Denman is a native of Nacogdoches, Texas and a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. An eighth-generation Texan, and a former banker and cattle rancher, she currently lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she is working on a second novel.
A Life of the Twentieth Century by Irene Even was a great book. I loved most of things about this book and I love that even though it is a fiction book it is based on Irene’s life. Oh and the best part for me is that part of it takes place during WWII which everyone should know by now is my favorite time period. I also loved seeing what is was like growing up in europe and the things that she went through throughout her life. There were times for me where the amount of detail that was used bogged me down and I found I couldn’t focus on the story because of all the details that were used but even though those times I still didn’t want to stop reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next to her. If you love historical fiction books than I would for sure recommend this book to you. It was also made better because it is based on her life so you know that the things she went through really happened.

A Life of the Twentieth Century is the story of Aya, who lived through the loss of her parents before the age of 3. At the age of twelve she was sent to a boarding school in Budapest, that closed after one year, because the Nazi army marched into the city.
Aya was left totally alone to face the Nazi occupation, and to experience all the horrors of the war. She faced many life threatening situations, such as prison, bombardment or even the possibility of being executed on the spot, without really comprehending the gravity of it all.
The end of the war was supposed to mean liberation, the return of hope and freedom for most people, however it didn’t happen for Aya, who was part of a youth group on her way to Palestine. The destination of this youth group was to reach Italy and the Jewish Brigade. They crossed the Alps on foot from Austria to reach Italy.
As they reached their destination Aya met a soldier from the Jewish Brigade, who was supposed to be her Hero, her Saviour, but turned out to be the devil incarnate. From day one, this soldier of the Jewish brigade took control of Aya’s life when she was only 15 years old.
After divorce, destitute and once again alone, she had no direction and almost no hope, when from deep inside her a small voice said; go back to school. It took all her courage to apply to university, where she was accepted and after 5 year was granted a B.A. and a Diploma of Teaching. She spent the rest of her life teaching, and as she contemplated her life she said to herself that if she had had all the choices in the world, she would have chosen teaching.
About The Author
Irene Even was born in Hungary. As a child she lived through the Second World War, using false papers to survive. After the war, she immigrated to Palestine, lived in a Kibbutz, then later married and immigrated to Canada with her family. She returned to Israel to teach English and remained there for twenty-two years. Having written her memoir, A Life of the Twentieth Century, she now lives in retirement in Montreal.

About The Author
Laura Morelli holds a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University, where she was a Bass Writing Fellow and Mellon Doctoral Fellow. She authored a column for National Geographic Traveler called “The Genuine Article” and contributes pieces about authentic travel to national magazines and newspapers. Laura has been featured on CNN Radio, Travel Today with Peter Greenberg, The Frommers Travel Show, and in USA TODAY, Departures, House & Garden Magazine, Traditional Home, the Denver Post, Miami Herald, The Chicago Tribune, and other media.
