Vegas Lies by Andrew Cunningham

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Vegas Lies by Andrew Cunningham was a good book but I am also done with these characters.  I have reviewed the other 2 books in this series and you can check out those reviews here and here if you missed them or if you are interested in seeing how I felt about them.  I reached the point at the end of the book where I was annoyed that no matter what happens to the main characters they survive and go right back to making stupid choices that should have gotten them killed.  Even with me saying that I did in the story for the most part but I was able to figure out how it all was going to end. I think if I had more time in between listening to the books that I wouldn’t have been as annoyed with the characters.  You don’t have to listen to the other two books in this series if you aren’t interested in them. You will be able to understand what is going on in this book without having read the other two books but if you are interested in the series than I would start with book one so nothing gets ruined for you.  I did like these characters and if the author writes more books with these characters I will pick it up so that I can catch up with them in the future. If you are looking for a new series to start reading this winter I would pick up a copy of this series and give it a read. If you have read this series what did you think of it and which book was your favorite?

About The Author

Andrew Cunningham

I’m the author of novels in several genres, including, mystery, thriller, and post-apocalyptic science fiction. Under the name A.R. Cunningham, I’ve also written the Arthur MacArthur series of mysteries for children.

I was born in England, but have spent most of my life living in the U.S.—including 25 years on Cape Cod before moving to Florida. A former interpreter for the deaf and long-time independent bookseller, I’ve been a full-time freelance writer and copy editor for many years. A 4th-degree Master Black belt in Tang Soo Do, I finally retired from active training when my body said, “Enough already! Why are you doing this to yourself?” I’m married, with two grown children and two awesome grandsons. My wife and I spend as much time traveling as we can, and are especially fond of cruising the Caribbean.

I have been gratified by the response to my books. When I published Eden Rising back in the spring of 2013, I had no idea what to expect. When I sold my first few copies, I was excited beyond belief that someone was willing to take a chance on it. Numerous books and thousands of copies later, I am still humbled by the emails I get from readers telling me that my books kept them up late into the night.

In October of 2014, Wisdom Spring made me an official Amazon Bestselling author, a thrill I never thought would happen. But it still comes down to being able to bring a few hours of escape to a reader. That’s what it’s all about for me.

I hope you will try my books. Please feel free to email me with your comments.

About the Narrator

Greg Hernandez

Author-preferred Narrator of Mysteries & Thrillers

Narrating audiobooks is highly gratifying.  I immerse myself into an author’s story in order to bring it to life for the listener.  I’ve enjoyed working with Andrew Cunningham for several years. His books are filled with rich characters, and the stories keep me turning the pages.

I also work as a background actor in movies and TV shows.

For more than 20 years, I worked as a radio news reporter and news writer.  I spent half of my broadcasting career at ABC News Radio in the Washington, D.C., bureau.  I covered all the federal agencies as well as Congress and the White House. I reported on a wide range of stories during my career, including financial and entertainment industry news.

For nearly 24 years, I worked as a federal government spokesman at three separate agencies—National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Mint and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Snippet from Release:
Startinearly huh, lass? The barmans foreign accent did not hold back his sarcasm. My glare answered for me. Rachmaninoff okay?
I nodded. As he poured, the liquid flowed smoothly, and when it settled, it appeared like solid glass, no fizzes or foam. I scanned the surface, laden and tempting, imagining the relief provided as it passed my lips and slithered down my anxious throat. I stared.
I thought of Mari, how she needed me nowhow we actually needed each other. What will she say?
Its only one drink. I can handle one drink . . . cant I?
Will she be disappointed in me if she knows?
She may already be when she finds out I lost my position at Zur.
Is there a problem? The barman stood in front of me.
I shook my head.
Do you want a different one?
No,I snapped. He quickly retreated.
As I ran my tongue across my parched lips, the desire to bring the drink to my mouth brought a familiar yearning to my bosom. My hands cupped the glass. No one will know.

It’s a Mall World After All by Janette Rallison

USA Today, bestselling author, Janette Rallison/ CJ Hill writes books because writing is much more fun than cleaning bathrooms. Her avoidance of housework has led her to writing thirty novels that have sold over 1,000,000 print copies and have been on many reading and state lists. Her books are fantasy, sci-fi, and romantic comedy because hey, there is enough angst in real life, but theres a drastic shortage of humor, romance and hot guys who fight dragons. She lives in Chandler, Arizona with her husband, kids, and enough cats to classify her as eccentric.

Fans of Sophie Kinsella will love this book!
Q&A With the Author:

1.What inspired this Christmas/Winter book?
I had the idea: what would happen if a mall Santa got in a brawl while a bunch of kids were watching? I thought it could be a really funny scene (which goes to show you that I’m a bit warped.) From there, I worked backward to figure out who these people were and what they were fighting about.

2.Do you have other Holiday books? If so, what are they are for which Holidays? If not, what other books do you write?
I have a Valentine’s novella Valentine’s Day Collection (A Timeless Romance Anthology Book 19) https://www.amazon.com/Valentines-Collection-Timeless-Romance-Anthology-ebook/dp/B01NANJ3ET/
but most of my books are either romantic comedies or action (with romance and a bit of comedy because I love those elements too much not to put them in.) I also write under the pen name CJ. Hill. (Although I should warn you that there are two other authors with the same name. I’ve written the Slayers series and Erasing Time series.)

3.What is your largest unfulfilled dream, and what are you doing to reach it?
My largest unfulfilled dream is to write all of the books that I have plot ideas for. I’m working toward this goal largely by ignoring my housework and writing instead. It’s a sacrifice, yes, but I’m willing to make it.

4.Tell us about things you enjoy — what you do for fun or personal satisfaction besides writing?
I love traveling and learning about history. And of course, I also love reading.

5.Are your characters/stories/scenes, etc. based on anything in real life?
I think most of my embarrassing moments make their way into my books. If you’re going to humiliate yourself in social circles, you might as well put those moments to good use.

6.Tell us one Christmas or Winter tradition that you love to do every year, and why it is so special to you.
Hmmm. Well, the thing I do with the most consistency is overspend at Christmas–that and consume too much sugar. Those are probably not the traditions you were looking for. My family also goes to see the Christmas lights at the Mesa Arizona Temple, and I make my kids sing Christmas carols on the way there and back. It’s the one time a year they’re forced to listen to me sing without rolling their eyes. That’s special. This year the temple is being renovated, so I guess we’ll just have to drive around some festive neighborhoods singing. People won’t think that’s strange.

Widow’s Run by TG Wolff

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Widow’s Run by TG Wolff had a very interesting plot and it kept me interested right from the start.  I love it when I find books like this one because they have such unique plots and that makes me want to read the book even more.  I have read so many books in this genre that it is rare that I find a book with a plot that I haven’t read something similar to in the past and I loved that about this book and this author.  I truly enjoyed this author’s writing and she is one that I will be adding to my list of authors to check out in the future. I loved that this book was intense right from the first page and because of that it hooked me and I didn’t want to put it down until I was done with the story.  I love when authors start a book with a bang and then keep the pace up throughout the book. This book was also able to keep me guessing and I didn’t figure out what was going to happen until the end of the book. If you are looking for a book with a unique plot to read this winter I would give this one a shot.

About The Book

One night in Rome. One car. One dead scientist. Italian police investigate, but in the end, all they have are kind words for the new widow. Months later, a video emerges challenging the facts. Had he stepped into traffic, or was he pushed? The widow returns to the police, but they have little interest and no answers. Exit the widow.

Enter Diamond. One name for a woman with one purpose. Resurrecting her CIA cover, she follows the shaky video down the rabbit hole. Her widow’s run unearths a plethora of suspects: the small-time crook, the mule-loving rancher, the lady in waiting, the Russian bookseller, the soon-to-be priest. Following the stink greed leaves in its wake reveals big lies and ugly truths.

Murder is filthy business. Good thing Diamond plays dirty.

About The Author

TG Wolff writes thrillers and mysteries that play within the gray area between good and bad, right and wrong. Cause and effect drive the stories, drawing from 20+ years’ experience in Civil Engineering, where “cause” is more often a symptom of a bigger, more challenging problem. Diverse characters mirror the complexities of real life and real people, balanced with a healthy dose of entertainment. Lorin Grace was born in Colorado and has been moving around the country ever since, living in eight states and several imaginary worlds. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Graphic Design.
Currently, she lives in northern Utah with her husband, four children, and a dog who is insanely jealous of her laptop. When not writing Lorin enjoys creating graphics, visiting historical sites, museums, and reading.
Lorin is an active member of the League of Utah Writers. Her debut novel, Waking Lucy, was awarded a 2017 Recommend Read award in the LUW Published book contest. Mending Fences received a 2018 Recommend Read award in the LUW Published book contest

One shattered window. Two bruised hearts. And twelve days until Christmas.

Tessa Doyle’s semester in Europe left her a much wiser woman. But then she takes a job referral from her ex-boyfriend, and agrees to repair the stained-glass window, the last work she will need for her MFA. With a two-week deadline, she will have no time for anything else, especially men.

Sean Cavanagh’s Christmas season has lost all its cheer. Nothing has gone according to his plans for Christmas since the drone broke the window. Now organ pipes are missing, and a blizzard is threatening to cancel what could be Granda’s last sermon.

With a little magic and a lot of snow, Tessa and Sean work together to repair not just a window, but also their hearts.

August 2018 Extended Ending: Granda’s house hid more than boxes of papers could they be worth a million or more?
Q&A With the Author:
1. What inspired this Christmas/Winter book
I was brainstorming with another author on Halloween and we decided to see if we could write a Christmas book in time for Christmas and I did it.
2. Do you have other Holiday books? If so, what are they are for which Holidays? If not, what other books do you write?
I have written other books with holidays in them, but they were not holiday books. Waking Lucy and Reforming Elizabeth both have Christmas 1797 in them. Healing Sarah has Independence Day 1816.  The other books in Artists & Billionaires series, as well as my other contemporaries mention some holidays in them but not as a major theme.
3. What is your largest unfulfilled dream, and what are you doing to reach it?
I want to be a kinder person.  I try everyday to be closer to God and to learn from others.
4. Tell us about things you enjoy — what you do for fun or personal satisfaction besides writing?
I love to read, of course, and enjoy graphic design, and listening to my children talk.
5. Are your characters/stories/scenes, etc. based on anything in real life?
I think parts of my books are based on my experiences.  Had I not had the opportunity to work for Holdman Studios, I dont think I would have ever tried to write a book incorporating stained glass.
6. Tell us one Christmas or Winter tradition that you love to do every year, and why it is so special to you.
When my kids were little, four under four years, I realized the ones that would sit down for Christmas dinner didn’t like turkey. So we ordered pizza for Christmas eve and had it delivered.  Something we never did. The next year my oldest asked when the pizza would come…we have had Pizza delivery the last 18 Christmas
