Guinevere: The Legend by Cheryl Carpinello

I’m a retired high school English teacher. A devourer of books
growing up, my profession introduced me to writings and authors from times long
past. Through my studies and teaching, I fell in love with the Ancient and
Medieval Worlds. Now, I hope to inspire young readers and those Young-at-Heart
to read more through my Tales and Legends for Reluctant Readers set in these
worlds—Ancient Egypt, Medieval Wales, and coming soon, a hair-raising adventure
through ancient worlds in search of 5 rare Phoenix Feathers.
All of my books come with Free study guides and/or extensive
Back-of-the-Book materials.
My husband and I love to travel. In 2008, we spent three weeks in
Egypt traveling by local train from one end of the country to the other; in
2014, we spent three weeks in the UK driving over 1700 miles through England,
Wales, and Scotland; and in 2016, we spent a week in Iceland. We’ve also
traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, and Aruba. Our next big adventure will be to
Greece and Italy.

When I’m not writing or traveling, our 4 grandkids keep us busy.

Levi

It’s no secret I was born from money. And I’m destined to take over the family business, King Cosmetics when my father retires.

At least that was the plan.

Until my father decided to impose some stupid rule about being married before I take the reigns. Everything I’ve worked for hangs in the balance and the future of the company is in jeopardy without a King behind the controls.

I never considered Becca part of the plan for taking over, but when one kiss leads to so much more, I can’t help but wonder if she’s the answer to my problem.

Becca
There are two things I love – my beauty blog and Levi King.

Coming from the same social circle has given me ample opportunity to crush on the next generation of King Cosmetics, but he made it clear a long time ago that I would never be anything more than “like family” to him.

Feeling the need for some serious changes in my life, I start shaking things up.

It wasn’t part of my plan to kiss Levi, but one kiss could never be enough. When that kiss turns into a relationship and I find out that Levi’s been keeping a secret, I begin to question if our love affair was too good to be true.

Looks like we’re about to find out if we can truly build flawless foundations for the rest of our lives. After all 425 Madison is the perfect place to fall in love.

“Em, is there anything at Envirogal open? I don’t know, maybe in research and development?
Or even the finance department? Maybe it’s time to put my degrees to use?”
She pops out her bottom lip. “I really don’t think we have any openings that would fit what you’re looking for or would enjoy. But I will definitely talk to HR on Monday.” I deflate a little at her response. Damn it. She was a great resource in the field I would want to work in since I clearly have to work.
“Oh, you should talk to Levi. King Cos is always hiring. They are just so much bigger than Envirogal. I’m sure he’d be able to find you a great job!” She’s all excited about the prospect, she’s also completely unaware of my distaste for her brother, Levi King.
Well, if she is aware, she does a great job of ignoring it. Just the thought of her tall, slender, dark-haired, brown-eyed brother makes me twitchy. Then, of course, my next thought goes to the fact that he now lives just down the hall. Which means at any time, he could just show up. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that Emmy’s relationship with her brother is stronger than ever. She deserves it since she has some of the worst parents, but I was as happy as a clam not seeing Levi on a regular basis.

I’ve known Levi King since I was a freckle-faced, braces-wearing preteen. We’ve always gotten along but were never friends. With him being two years older than us and seeing him being a nice big brother to Emmy, instead of an asshole like a lot of the other brothers in our social circle, I had it bad. My crush on him grew pretty quickly way back then. Unfortunately for me, that crush never really faded, but instead grew as the years went by. That is, until college.
It all ended one night in my Sophomore year. Emmy and I visited him at Harvard one weekend. He was a senior and surprisingly welcomed a visit from his sister. He took us out with a few of his friends to their local hang out and, well, let’s just say I had a lot to drink. I decided with my liquid courage that I’d flirt a little. He flirted back, to my surprise and extreme excitement. Toward the end of the night, I thought I was actually getting somewhere. So, when I finally kissed him, I was in heaven. Until he pushed me away and told me I was drunk, and he’d never take advantage of a woman under the influence. Okay, so I can commend that. But drunk me just kept pushing until he delivered his final blow. “Becca, you’re like a sister to me, nothing can ever happen between us.”

Ouch. You know what’s worse than being friend-zoned? Sister-zoned.

The royal wedding approaches and the country is alive with anticipation.

Among the craftsmen traveling to the capital is Constance Rendare and her family. An artist, a widow of an unhappy marriage, and the mother of a young son, she dreams of escaping the cruel servitude of her father’s household.

Wilard Naron serves the Earl of Dentin. He returns to the capital, his childhood home, to collect his earnings and finally free himself from his father’s reputation.

Kidnappings, bandits, and a plot against the king complicate the journey. The conflicts throw Constance and Wilard together as their circumstances grow steadily worse. The more the pair uncovers, the direr the future looks for the country and for them.

Wilard

Constance’s small smile for her son as she emerged from the wagon door the next morning made the exhaustion in my limbs worthwhile. I could function on a half-night’s sleep per night for a few days if I could see such a clear positive result. Madam Rendare, despite all of her efforts to be independent, needed a champion. It was a position I didn’t intend to sign up for in the long-term, but I was happy to fill the post short-term with Hugh’s assistance.

“Roman is acting like a wounded bear this morning,” Hugh informed me as he guided the gypsy wagon’s team past me to their hitching places. “I would steer clear.”

I nodded but didn’t comment. Roman hadn’t approached the women’s wagon during my watch, but I had heard him pacing in the dark barely out of sight for most of my time on duty.

Making my way around the camp to check on everyone’s progress in the preparations for the day’s journey, I encountered Owen racing through his tasks.

“What is the rush?” I asked as he trotted past me with one of the feeding bags over his arm.

He blushed. “I am a bit behind, Master Wilard.”

“Why?”

He avoided my gaze.

“Owen, regard me directly and tell me the truth.”

He reluctantly met my gaze. “Aunt Meri made me scrape the pot last night, and I overslept this morning.”

“If she orders you to do so again tonight, seek me out, understand?”

He nodded briskly while glancing off toward our wagon and his waiting tasks.

“Go on with you. Continue in your duties. We will move out as soon as everyone is ready,” I said. He flashed me an eager grin before running off to finish his work. Turning my own mind to the task of collapsing and packing the rain cover, I set to warming up my aching muscles.

Before the sun cleared the far horizon, both wagons were on the move. The horses followed at a more leisurely pace as Roman and Owen kept the herd in check. Hugh drove the gypsy wagon, utilizing his greater experience. I handled the open wagon with its cover stowed.

The women walked. Constance’s calm and graceful movements contrasted strongly with Meri’s agitation. Meri made her points with a yanking of her wrap and a general demeanor of aggression. Despite the physical signs of a disagreement, their voices never rose to the point I could hear them above the noise of the wagons and horses.

Loving Vengeance by Georgia Rose

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Loving Vengeance by Georgia Rose left me confused and at times made me feel like I missed something even though I was listening to the story.  This is the second book in the series and in order to understand this book you have to read/listen to the first book in order to understand this book and have it all make sense.  In the end, it was revealed and I understood what had actually happened but it took time for that to all come out. I did enjoy this book more than the first book though. I loved that the main character was a strong woman and that even though there are quite a few males in the book she was able to handle things on her own.  I did spend a good part of the book wishing that Madeleine and Dan would have just a had a conversation when the book started so that they wouldn’t have had all of the doubts about each other but I also understood why they didn’t.  I did love that this book wrapped up both books and I was left feeling sad that I had to say goodbye to the characters. If you are looking for a new series to check out give this one a shot.

About The Book

Author: Georgia Rose

Narrator: Henri Merriam

Length: 7 hours 48 minutes

Publisher: Three Shires Publishing⎮2019

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Series: The Ross Duology, Book 2

Release date: Nov. 25, 2019

Synopsis: A woman with a troubled past. A new love hanging in the balance. Will an unexpected visitor strengthen her resolve or destroy the life she’s trying to build?

Madeleine’s world, once so organised, is a mess. Suffering the fallout from the mistakes she made with Tag, she has no idea where she stands with Daniel. Are they only friends or is there still a chance for something more?

Enter James – cool, calm and calculated. A stranger, she thinks. But he knows her, and he comes with an opportunity she can’t refuse, involving an enemy she’d tried to forget. At first keen to return to her past, Madeleine soon realises it’s not only the gang that’s changed, and battles her own demons as well as an unpredictable villain.

Can Daniel step up when he’s needed? Or will it be James who rides in to the rescue? Because when things go badly for Madeleine, and all hope seems lost, there is only one who can save the day. And only one who can bring more to the task than merely himself.

Loving Vengeance is the second book in this fast-paced duology. If you like strong heroines, character-driven action and powerful emotions, then you’ll love Georgia Rose’s exciting novel.

About The Author

Georgia Rose is a product of rural England and the countryside setting is the theme running through her books. She loves strong characters and finds developing them incredibly satisfying.

Instructing and working with horses has provided the knowledge needed for some of her storylines and these can come from a fragment of conversation, via Georgia’s not so surreptitious people watching or most often from her overactive imagination.

Georgia’s busy life is set in a tranquil part of rural Cambridgeshire in the UK where she lives with her much neglected husband and dog.

She loves afternoon tea, the way the word loquacious rolls off the tongue and she sincerely believes inanimate objects have feelings.

She does not care for clowns or kites and can’t understand why adding salt to caramel is seen as a good thing.

She also hates every photo ever taken of her…

Sandra
Before THAT night, the over the top party and the cake incident, I spent Saturday nights with girlfriends, lamenting my life over margaritas.
I wasn’t ready for Jacob Clark. He was sin and dark edges, wrapped in regret. He was my kryptonite. His words oozed over me like warm honey. His dark eyes pricked my soul, and his touch….those fingers set my skin on fire.
Ofcourse, he was too good to be true. And before I could wipe the icing off my greedy lips, I was walking away.

So, why was he invading her dreams?

Jacob
She was the remedy to everything. Until my family, my past provoked me.
I made one little scene, and Sandra walked away without a word, despite our mind-blowing connection.
When I finally barged in on her life again, she told me she didn’t want me. I told her in her pretty face she did. She more than wanted me.
Remember the ache? When I’m with her, it goes away.
If she wants a chase, I’ll give her one.

Who knows? When I catch her, I might never let go.

Unable to believe what I’m seeing, I cover my mouth with both hands, silencing my gasp.
Jake doesn’t stumble for long. Both brothers are the same height, and even though Troy is bulkier, it’s obvious that Jake spends more time in the gym. Like in a slow-motion movie, I watch as Jake punches his brother in the stomach, causing him to double over. He takes a step forward, grabs him by the collar and shoves him into my mother’s cake. Troy doesn’t stay down
for long. He tackles Jake, twists him around until they both land on the cake, smashing it completely and breaking the small table that held it.
Mrs. Clark is screaming at Luke and Josh to stop them as the two brothers continue to wrestle on the floor. I almost want to offer Tracy some comfort as the tears start to roll down her cheeks, but Luke puts a protective arm around her and escorts her away from the room and the disaster that’s continuing to unfold.
Mrs. Clark’s screams and the resounding sound of the table crashing finally pulls me out of my trance. Unable to look anymore, I turn around and walk out of the dining room. I find my coat and purse and walk out of the house, grateful that I’ll never have to return or see Jacob Clark again.
As I walk to the van, I’m reminded that the universe always has to balance itself. Jacob Clark was too good to be true.

The Occult Persuasion & The Anarchist’s Solution by Lisa de Nikolits

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Occult Persuasion & The Anarchist’s Solution by Lisa de Nikolits wasn’t my favorite book but it did keep me reading because I had to know what crazy thing the characters were going to do next.  I wasn’t ever to figure out what was going to happen next because they were always doing the craziest things. The book starts with one character thinking her husband fell overboard on a ferry and the next chapter starts with a guy stealing a jeep with a very expensive cat that insists on having the air conditioning going full blast.  The book only gets weirder and weirder as the chapters go on and on. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book but because I wasn’t able to figure out what was going to happen I had to keep reading because I was always wondering what crazy thing was going to happen next even though the things that happened wouldn’t happen in the real world.  That being said if you don’t mind crazy things happening that wouldn’t happen in the real world then I would pick up this book and give it a read.

About The Book

Genre: Suspense Thriller Published by: Inanna Poetry & Fiction Series Publication Date: September 30th 2019 Number of Pages: 300 ISBN: 1771336498 (ISBN13: 9781771336499) The Occult Persuasion and the Anarchist’s Solution is about a couple experiencing a crisis. The husband, Lyndon, loses his job as editor of a financial magazine. Neither are happy with aging. Lyndon has gotten by with charm and frozen emotions. The wife, Margaux, has no idea how angry she is with him for his detachment. It is her idea to sell the house and just travel. But he is not coping well with retirement, so he simply walks off a ferry in Australia and leaves her. He steals a cat (well, he steals an expensive SUV that happens to have a cat onboard) and he flees Sydney, ending up in Apollo Bay, a few hours south-west of Melbourne, where he falls in with a group of anarchists and punk rockers in a tattoo parlour, planning revolution.

Meanwhile, Margaux sits tight in Sydney with no idea of where her husband might be or what happened. She moves into the red-light Kings Cross area, befriending the owner of the hostel, a seventy-year-old ex-cop drag queen from Saint John, New Brunswick, and waits to hear from her husband.

When she learns that her husband is fine, she is consumed by wrath and she invokes the angry spirit of an evil nurse, a key player in the terrible Chelmsworth sleep therapy in which many patients died (historical fact). While Lyndon gets in touch with his original career ambition to become an artist and wrestles with anarchism versus capitalism, Margaux learns to deal with her rage.

A serio-comedic thriller about a couple who embark on an unintentionally life-changing around-the-world adventure, The Occult Persuasion and the Anarchist’s Solution is about the meaning of life, healing from old wounds, romantic love at all ages, and how love and passion can make a difference, at any age.
