Black Label by James L’Etoile was an exciting book.  I love that there were medical aspects in this book because those always interest me.  There wasn’t a ton of medical things going on, so if that is something that you don’t like, then I would still check this one out. This book did have quite a bit of suspense running throughout most of the book, which I loved.  The more tension that book has, the more I am going to enjoy the story.  The author did a great job of making the characters and the story come alive as I was reading.  I read this book in just a couple of days.  This book had just about everything that I love in an excellent psychological thrillerThis book kept me on the edge as I was reading, and I was sad when the story ended because I wasn’t ready to move on from these characters or this story.  If you love super suspenseful books, then I know you will love this book like I do.

Praise

“Tight, terrific, terrifying. BLACK LABEL delves into the murky world of pharmaceuticals where profit is prioritized above all else. L’Etoile creates a strong female lead in Jillian Cooper, a woman who faces obstacle after obstacle, but still charges into the abyss. More unnerving than a fistful of amphetamines. Unputdownable.”

Can she prove her innocence before she’s silenced forever? A dark journey through the world of big Pharma and big money—you will turn the pages as fast as you can.”
— Hank Phillippi Ryan USA Today Bestselling author of THE FIRST TO LIE

Kill Shot by Blair Denholm

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners in Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Kill Shot by Blair Denholm was an exciting read.  I enjoyed this author’s writing, and I can’t wait to read other books in this series in the future.  I also love that the author has a short story about Jack’s background and why he is the way he is.  I love when authors do things like that because it helps me connect with the characters.  This author did a great job of including enough details to understand where the characters come from but not so much information that you get bogged down in all of the unnecessary information.  This book had the right amount of suspense that kept me up way too late reading, which isn’t great for my day job, but it made me love this author’s writing and this story.  If you love thriller genre books, I know you will love this story as I did.

Women In Shadow by Carrie Stuart Parks

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Women In Shadow by Carrier Stuart Parks was a sweet story.  I have read quite a few books by this author, and this one didn’t let me down.  I did wish that this book had been more suspenseful, but that wasn’t a deal-breaker for me.  This book didn’t have any adult scenes or anything that may offend someone.  The author did a great job of making the characters come to life as I was reading the book.  I did have a hard time keeping the characters straight, and I think that is because there are so many different people in this book that I would get confused as to who was talking.  I enjoyed that this author included animals in the story because that made the story come to life for me.  I didn’t figure out what was going to happen before the book ended.  This book did have enough suspense that I kept reading until I had finished the book, so over all it was a great book that most people would enjoy.  If you don’t like super suspenseful books, then I would for sure pick up a copy of this book.

As a side note, I bought the audiobook version of this book, and I enjoyed the narrator’s voice, and I would listen to other books that she has narrated in the future.

About The Book

Genre: Mystery/Suspense

Publication Date: July 13th 2021
Number of Pages: 336

Series: Woman in Shadow is not a part of a series.

Carrie Stuart Parks combines her expertise as a forensic artist with her ability to craft a gripping story in this page-turning web of light and shadow.

A woman off the grid.

Darby Graham thinks she’s on a much-needed vacation in remote Idaho to relax. But before she even arrives at the ranch, an earthquake strikes—her first clue that something is amiss. Then when a cabin on the edge of town is engulfed in flames and problems at the ranch escalate, Darby finds herself immersed in a chilling mystery.

A town on fire.

A serial arsonist sends taunting letters to the press after each fire. As a forensic linguist, this is Darby’s area of expertise . . . but the scars it’s caused her also the reason she’s trying to escape from her life.

A growing darkness.

As the shadows continue to move in, the pieces of the town around her come into sharper focus. Can she trust the one man who sees her clearly?

Praise for Woman in Shadow:

“Unique, witty, and hilarious, Carrie’s voice shines throughout Woman in Shadow. The perfect mix of intrigue, mystery and danger, this is most definitely a book for my keeper shelf.”

Beyond The Headlines by R.G. Belsky

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Beyond The Headlines by R.G. Belsky was another great book in this series.  I believe that I have read the other three books in this series.  You don’t have to read all of the books to understand what is going on in the books,, but I would recommend the entire series because they are excellent books.  I loved that I got to check in with Clare again and saw wsaw she got herself into this time.  This author did a great job of including just enough details that you don’t get bogged down in them, but you also have enough information, so you don’t feel like you are missing something.  I didn’t find that this book was suspenseful at all.  I did enjoy the mystery parts of this book but I was able to figure out who the killer was pretty early.  That did’t bother me though because I can’t get enough of this authors writing.  He does such a great job of making me feel like I was there with the characters.  I love books where I feel like the characters are my friends and these are those types of characters for me.  If you don’t like books that are super suspenseful than this book might be a  good match for you.  It did have enough suspense in it though that I read it in just a few days.

That dream has now turned into a nightmare when she is arrested for the murder of her wealthy husband.

New York City TV journalist Clare Carlson does an emotional jailhouse interview in which Bateman proclaims her innocence—and becomes a cause celebre for women’s rights groups around the country.

Until I Find You by Rea Frey

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Until I Find You by Rea Frey was an interesting book.  It was a super slow starter for me, so for a good chunk of the book, I had to force myself to pick it up and read it.  I found that this book has a unique plot, which is one of the big reasons I kept reading.  I felt terrible for Rebecca because of everything that she has had to go through, but at times I wished she would have gotten out of her head.  I found I had a hard time relating to the characters, and I am not one hundred percent sure of why.  I did enjoy the authors writing, and I can’t wait to read other books by her in the future.  I did find at times that the things she did were crazy, especially since she can’t see what is going on around her.  I know she wants to do things independently, but I wished that she would have let people help her.  I was scared that she was so stubborn that she was going to get herself or the baby hurt.  If you are looking for a book with a unique plot, I would pick up a copy of this book and try.  As a side note, I ended up buying the audiobook version of this book to make myself listen to it as I was working, and I enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook.

Three Missing Days by Colleen Coble

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Three Missing Days by Colleen Coble was an exciting book.  I have read books by this author for years now, and I don’t know that I have ever been let down by one of her books.  This is the third book in the series. I didn’t read any of the other books, and I didn’t feel lost at all.  There were parts where I wished I knew more of the back story, but that is just because I am nosy, is all.  If you want to read the whole series, I would read them in order, but you can just read one if that is the only one that interests you.  This book did have suspense in it. Nothing that kept me up at night because I wanted to finish the book.  It was enough to keep me interested, and it kept me reading.  I enjoyed the characters in this book.  I enjoyed them so much that I will go back and read the other books because I am not ready to say goodbye to them yet.  I felt so bad for Jane because I can’t even imagine how hard it had to be to deal with everything thrown at her right from the first chapter of the book.  I know books in this genre aren’t always that cleanest so if you are looking for a clean read, then pick this one up.

Her son’s arrest.

Then Jane’s fifteen-year-old son is accused of a horrific crime, and she has to decide whether or not she can trust her ex, Reid, in the attempt to prove Will’s innocence—and whether she can trust Reid with her heart.

Her stolen memories.
