The Ninth Session by Deborah Serani

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

The Ninth Session by Deborah Serani was a great audiobook.  I loved the narrator of this story and how the audiobook was recorded.  I loved that after each session and was writing her notes you could hear someone writing, so it was like I was listening to a real show or movie and just not paying attention to what was happening on the screen.  I love when audiobooks include things like someone writing because it helps me get even more into what is happening in the story.  I also thought that the narrator’s voice fits this story and the characters in the story. I loved that the plot of this book was something that I hadn’t come across before that this is always a hard thing for me to find.  Because I usually read books in this genre, it is hard to find a unique plot, and this book was so different from anything else that I have read or listened to.  This book did have a good amount of suspense that made me want to listen to this book without stopping.  Just when I thought I had this book figured out, something else would happen, and I would realize that I had it all wrong.  If you love suspense novels, I know you will love this book as much as I did.

A Cure For Deceit by Margie Miklas

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

A Cure For Deceit by Margie Miklas was a fantastic book.  I enjoyed everything about this audiobook.  I don’t know that I can even come up with anything bad because I loved this book that much.  I also really enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook.  I felt like her voice fit the characters in this book.  I wouldn’t recommend this book to you if you get grossed out by medical things because this book is full of that.  I loved that about this book because medical stuff has always interested me.  This book combined the two things that I love in books a great medical story and suspense that kept me listening.  I can’t wait to read other books by this author in the future because if her other books are anything like this one, I know I will love them.  The author did a great job explaining things that were happening, but she didn’t include so many details that you get bogged down.  The author also made the characters come to life as I was listening as well.  This book made me wonder if things like this happen in the real world.  I love when an author makes me stop and think about things that happen in the book and wonder if they have ever occurred in the real world.  If you love a good medical thriller, then I am sure you will love this book.

Women In Shadow by Carrie Stuart Parks

Book Review Graphic

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Partners In Crime Book Tours in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Women In Shadow by Carrier Stuart Parks was a sweet story.  I have read quite a few books by this author, and this one didn’t let me down.  I did wish that this book had been more suspenseful, but that wasn’t a deal-breaker for me.  This book didn’t have any adult scenes or anything that may offend someone.  The author did a great job of making the characters come to life as I was reading the book.  I did have a hard time keeping the characters straight, and I think that is because there are so many different people in this book that I would get confused as to who was talking.  I enjoyed that this author included animals in the story because that made the story come to life for me.  I didn’t figure out what was going to happen before the book ended.  This book did have enough suspense that I kept reading until I had finished the book, so over all it was a great book that most people would enjoy.  If you don’t like super suspenseful books, then I would for sure pick up a copy of this book.

As a side note, I bought the audiobook version of this book, and I enjoyed the narrator’s voice, and I would listen to other books that she has narrated in the future.

Carrie Stuart Parks combines her expertise as a forensic artist with her ability to craft a gripping story in this page-turning web of light and shadow.

A woman off the grid.

Darby Graham thinks she’s on a much-needed vacation in remote Idaho to relax. But before she even arrives at the ranch, an earthquake strikes—her first clue that something is amiss. Then when a cabin on the edge of town is engulfed in flames and problems at the ranch escalate, Darby finds herself immersed in a chilling mystery.

A town on fire.

A serial arsonist sends taunting letters to the press after each fire. As a forensic linguist, this is Darby’s area of expertise . . . but the scars it’s caused her also the reason she’s trying to escape from her life.

A growing darkness.

As the shadows continue to move in, the pieces of the town around her come into sharper focus. Can she trust the one man who sees her clearly?

Praise for Woman in Shadow:

“Unique, witty, and hilarious, Carrie’s voice shines throughout Woman in Shadow. The perfect mix of intrigue, mystery and danger, this is most definitely a book for my keeper shelf.”
Dani Pettrey, bestselling author of the Coastal Guardians series

Halfway Hunted by Terry Maggert

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Halfway Hunted by Terry Maggert was a great book.  This is the third book in the Halfway Witchy series, and I enjoyed it but not as much as the first two books.  I can’t put my finger on why that is, but I would listen to it again, and I still want to listen to the other books in this series.  I loved the narrator of this series.  Her voice fits Carlie so much that if I listen to other stories that she reads, I would be confused because, in my head, she is Carlie.  Carlie always leaves me smiling because so many things that she does are things that I would do or say.  I enjoy the authors writing in this series.  I did wish that there was more suspense in these books.  I enjoyed this book because it isn’t super long, and I listened to it as I was working.  If you are looking for something different to listen to this summer, I would recommend this entire series.  I am so glad that I decided to review these three books because I would never have picked them up otherwise.  If you want to see my reviews of the other two books you can click here and here to check them out.

  1. Don’t complain about the diner’s waffles
  2. Don’t break the laws of magic
  3. Never threaten a witch on her home turf

Can Carlie solve an ancient crime, defeat a ruthless killer, and save the love of her life from a vampire’s curse without burning the waffles?

Halfway Bitten by Terry Maggert

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Halfway Bitten by Terry Maggert was a fantastic book in this series.  I loved that these books are just short enough to listen to them in a day or two while I am working but not so short that you miss out on the story.  Once again, I loved that this narrator’s voice seems like she is Carlie.  Her voice fits so well with the character that my mind almost thinks they are the same person.  This genre of books isn’t one that I usually listen to, but after this series, I will change that for sure.  Once again, I also enjoyed the author of this book, and I am super excited to listen to the next book because I want to know what crazy thing will happen next.  I have also decided that I wished things like this happened because it would make things even more exciting and exciting.  This is the second book in the series, and if for some reason you are only interested in one of the books, you can just listen to that one, but I would recommend the entire series because I have fallen in love.

Halfway Dead by Terry Maggert was a fantastic book.  This is a genre that I usually read, but I enjoyed this book.  This is the first book in the Halfway Witchy series, and I can’t wait to listen to the other two books in this series.  I also loved the narrator of this book as well.  I think her voice was a perfect match for Carlie.  Because I don’t usually listen to books in this genre, I found that I was more interested because I had no idea where the story would go.  I also really enjoyed this author’s writing.  Once I am done with this series, I will probably pick up other books by this author.  I loved that Carlie was a strong single woman because we need more characters like this.  When you have a strong character like Carlie, it shows young women that you can do anything you want to do.  I think that young adults would enjoy this book, and there isn’t anything in it that would be inappropriate for teenagers to listen to.  If you are looking for something fun to listen to this summer, I would pick up a copy of this book and give it a listen.

Carlie McEwan loves many things.

She loves being a witch. She loves her town of Halfway, and her Gran, and her familiar, Gus, who is 25 pounds of judgmental cat. Carlie spends her days cooking at the only real diner in town when she isn’t perfecting her family magic, and life is good.

When a blond stranger sits at the diner counter and asks her to lead him into the deepest shadows of the forest, her life will change forever. She must find a mythical grove of ancient trees, but there are ghosts in the forest, and one of them cries out to Carlie across the years: Come find me.

With the help of a rugged cop who really does want to save the world, she’ll fight to bring a ghost home, and deliver justice to a murderer who hides in the cool, mysterious green of a forest gone mad with magic.
