Q&A With the Author:

1. What is your favorite Autumn Time activity?

Hikes in the mountain.

2. What is one of your writing quirks?

Since I am a graphic designer as well as an author, all the sentences have to look aesthetically pleasing or I will re-word. I’m also a lyricist so all the sentences have to flow as well.

3. Which of your books was your favorite to write? And why?

Probably my last book. I feel like I become a better writer everytime I write.

4. Who is the person or group of people who most support you in your writing? What have they done for you?

My husband helped me overcome barriers to writing, my father-in-law and dad both edited, my book manager has saved the day so many times, and my developmental editors did a lot of painstaking work to make the books ready to read.

5. What is your trick for getting past writer’s block? And what advice would you give to others who are struggling?

I don’t believe in writer’s block. That thing people call writer’s block could signal that creative energy is to be devoted elsewhere, or that you are in the winter of your creative cycle which is not a bad thing. For more on this see my book Time Management for Creative People

6. Autumn time has its own set of foods/flavors. What is your favorite Autumn comfort food?

Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Get two and put cream cheese in the middle for a yummy cookie sandwich.

The Watchers Books 1-3 by Deirdra Eden

Deirdra has spent the last decade captivating audiences of all ages with her novels and fairy tales. Her specialty is paranormal theology that delves into documented historical phenomenon and natural disasters of biblical proportions.

The Watchers” are supernatural beings in human form, charged with protecting mankind from the armies of darkness. Unfortunately, some of these Watchers go bad.

Deirdra Eden’s The Watcher’s Series is written in a traditional fairytale style with a young girl’s discovery of incredible, but dangerous powers within herself, a cast of humorous side-kicks, a quest for greater self-discovery and purpose, and villains of epic proportions.

In England, 1270 A.D., Auriella flees her village after being accused of witchcraft. Pursued by nightmarish creatures, she struggles to accept the truth about her humanity.

Filled with fairies, dwarves, pixies, dragons, and monsters, Knight of Light is an enthralling tale that will capture the imaginations of readers young and old. Auriella’s new life as a royal protector is in shambles. The new king ignores her warnings of a Shadow Legion invasion and he is determined to marry her off. Ghosts from her past, the discovery of other Watchers, and a handsome Scottish warrior throw her off guard and weaken her emotional defenses. Caught in a web of secrecy and betrayal, Auriella struggles to control and protect the devastating power of Starfire. A terrible truth and a fateful choice will lead her to her destiny as the fabled Lady of Neviah, or could shroud the entire world in eternal darkness.

Filled with action, romance, drama, and comedy, Hidden Fire is an addicting read that you won’t want to put down.

The Watchers Series has been described as Braveheart meets Supernatural. The mythology for the series is based on many theological texts from dozens of sects with correlating themes. Ancient writings include the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Traditional Apocrypha, the Pearl of Great Price and the Kabbalah. The Watchers are supernatural beings in human form whose duty it is to protect and guard mankind from the armies of darkness. Unfortunately, as the Book of Enoch mentions, some of these Watchers go bad.

Although the mythology is based on these texts, Deirdra Eden’s The Watcher’s Series is written in a traditional fairytale style with a young girl’s discovery of incredible, but dangerous powers within herself, a cast of humorous side-kicks, a quest for greater self-discovery and purpose, and villains of epic proportions.

Auriella joins the ranks of the Immortals, but Azrael has vanished in the depths of war. She is forced to choose between love or loyalty when the druids charge her with finding Alamar, an unruly Watcher who can control the seas. Though witty and charming, Alamar and his blood thirsty friends can’t be trusted. Now, it’s a race against time to find Azrael before he is killed, and Alamar before he is recruited by the Shadow Legion.

“Deirdra Eden has surpassed her earlier achievement in this daring tale of struggle between good and evil forces that exist in every universe.” Mark F. Cheney, author of MARK OF THE JAGUAR

“Thought provoking and full of action, I didn’t want to put the book down! I really loved the symbolism and it was a fantastic read.” Mary G. – age 15

When her dad confiscates her deceased mom’s journals, 12-year-old Ginnie West counts on her BFF, Tillie, to help her get them back. But Tillie’s not so sure the ghost of Ginnie’s mom will make a good addition to their new family tree.

Then the girls’ world gets flipped upside-down when a blast from the past shows up and makes Tillie go nutburgers. Life gets complicated when Ginnie is forced to choose between helping her best friend and getting the answers she’s always dreamed of.

What reviewers are saying about this book:
*Like Anne of “Anne of Green Gables,” Ginnie is a character you can’t help but love.

*I couldn’t put these books down. I was not only entertained, but inspired.

*Bucheger does an amazing job of writing this story but without giving a cookie cutter answer to the problems Ginnie faces.

Character Casting

1) Ginnie–if I could cast a girl as Ginnie in a movie today–it would be Gracie on the cover. Gracie has a fun personality and an impish grin.

2) Tillie–if I could cast a girl as Tillie–it would be Jessie on the cover. The 2 of them just did a beautiful picture shoot that embraced the essence of Ginnie and Tillie.

3) Uncle Ben–i always picture Bruce Boxleitner I enjoyed him as a kid on a show called “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” and “Babylon 5”–recently he has been featured on Supergirl and he was the actor who played the main character on the original movie, Tron.

4) I would love to see Bruce’s ex-wife, Melissa Gilbert as Aunt Sadie –I loved her as a kid as Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie

5) Ginnie’s dad Todd–my first inspiration for Todd was John Schneider–Bo Duke from Dukes of Hazzard. John would be too old to play Ginnie’s dad if it was filmed today–but he was the original dad image, when I dreamed Ginnie up years ago.

6) Uncle Jake–I could see Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) from NCIS playing a contemporary Uncle Jake–minus the 3 piece suits.

7) Miss Amanda– I could see her portrayed by Emma Watson (real life Belle and Little Women)

Blown Into Romance by Shanna Hatfield

USA Today bestselling author Shanna Hatfield is a farm girl who loves to write. Her sweet historical and contemporary romances are filled with sarcasm, humor, hope, and hunky heroes.

Shanna creates character-driven romances with realistic heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as “”reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian”” while her contemporary works have been called “”laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.””

When Shanna isn’t dreaming up unforgettable characters, twisting plots, or covertly seeking dark, decadent chocolate, she hangs out with her beloved husband, Captain Cavedweller.

Artist Brooke Roberts spent her life without roots, wandering from town to town. When she seeks refuge from a freak storm in the town of Romance, she decides to stay and open a blown glass studio. Determined to immerse herself in the community, she adopts a family of pigs. Brooke is unprepared for the chaos and comfort they bring to her world, or the dashing cowboy who rescues her heart.

Solid, dependable Blayne Grundy runs a busy ranch, volunteers on various committees, and takes in stray animals too large to stay at the local animal rescue. Then a chance encounter with a beautiful, beguiling woman leaves him so befuddled, he can barely remember his own name. His predictable organized life is about to be blown away by free-spirited Brooke.

A sweet, lighthearted novella, Blown Into Romance highlights the mighty power of love and letting go from USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield

Q&A With the Author:

1. What is your favorite Autumn Time activity?
We live across the road from an apple orchard. It’s so fun to watch the workers pick the apples and see the huge bins full of bright red fruit. When the apples are ripe, there is the most delicious, spicy scent in the air. To me, that’s when autumn has fully arrived when the apple picking begins.

2. What is one of your writing quirks?

I need music playing on a loop to stay focused on my writing. I’m sure it drives the other occupants of my house bananas, but I will choose a song that goes along with the book I’m working on and listening to it nonstop while I’m writing. It makes me smile when I hear a song I’ve “chosen” on the radio, and I think “oh, it’s my character’s song!”

3. Which of your books was your favorite to write? And why?

I can’t pick just one. That’s like picking a favorite child. But I do have a few that were extra special. Garden of Her Heart was the first World War II book I wrote. Researching it made me so aware of the sacrifices made by so many, including those on the home front. And Grass Valley Brides, which recently released, was just such fun to write. It’s a collection of three novellas that are intertwined. There is one handsome rascal, Tagg Thompson, who pops up all three stories and just figuring out ways to work him in made the project a real treat for me to write.

4. Who is the person or group of people who most support you in your writing? What have they done for you?

I have so many wonderful people in my life who are encouraging and supporting, and I am grateful every day for them. The person who has been the most supportive is my husband. He’s the one who encouraged me to quit my day job and write full time and he’s great to help me brainstorm new story ideas. I also have the most amazing group of readers—the Hopeless Romantics. We have a group on Facebook and have so much fun sharing not just about my books, but recipes, crafts, and more.  Many of them have become my friends and I cherish them so dearly.

5. What is your trick for getting past writer’s block? And what advice would you give to others who are struggling?

Take a break. The best thing to do is clear your head. Go for a walk, do a project around the house. Just give your brain time to reengage and you’ll be able to get past it.

6. Autumn time has its own set of foods/flavors. What is your favorite Autumn comfort food?

If I had to pick one favorite autumn food, it would be pumpkin pie. I just love, love pumpkin: pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin everything! But basic pumpkin pie remains my favorite. A close second would be chicken with homemade noodles. It was one of my favorite meals when I was a child and my mom always made it for my birthday.

Q&A With the Author:

1.       What is your favorite Autumn Time activity?[Ren Garcia]   It used to be college football—I’m a big Ohio State fan. Of course, they’re not playing this season due to the Kouf. I looked it up—Ohio State played football during the Spanish Fle pandemic of 1918—They played on like a boss.

2.       What is one of your writing quirks?[Ren Garcia]  I can’t write unless my workspace is perfectly clean. I can’t write at a messy desk, I don’t know why. I’ll spend half an hour picking up before I get started.

3.       Which of your books was your favorite to write? And why?[Ren Garcia]  I think it is Book 12: Kat. Kat was sort of the dumping ground for a lot of unused scenes and concepts that got cut from other books. I really enjoyed modifying them and getting them in at last. Some of those scenes I had saved for years. They found a perfect home in Kat.

4.       Who is the person or group of people who most support you in your writing? What have they done for you?[Ren Garcia]  Well, there isn’t really anybody, I hate to say. I’m pretty much a lone wolf. There hasn’t been anybody who gave me a pat on the back or provided encouragement during all the long nights of writing. Heck, even my wife hasn’t read them all. Well, check that—the Columbus House of Scribes, a local writing group, helped out a little. They told me the original cover for Book 1 sucked hard, and they were right. So, I redid it.

5.       What is your trick for getting past writer’s block? And what advice would you give to others who are struggling?[Ren Garcia]  I’ve never really had issues with Writer’s Block. The best advice I can give is have two or three works in progress at any given time. If you get stuck on one, transfer to another, let the issue simmer for awhile, then come back to it later. Most issues with flow and creativity can be sorted with the passage of time.

6.       Autumn time has its own set of foods/flavors. What is your favorite Autumn comfort food?[Ren Garcia]  I love Buckeye Nuts. They’re little chocolate & peanut butter candies that come out in the fall to celebrate Ohio State Football (Yes, that again). They are made to look like a buckeye not, with a dot of peanut butter in the center. Also, I love making tortillas the way my grandmother made them. I tend to make them more in the fall, I do not know why.
