Confessions of a Bookaholic by Joslyn Westbrook

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Confessions of a Bookaholic by Joslyn Westbrook was a fun book.  I enjoyed that this book had two different narrators for the story because it kept track of who was talking even easier.  I have so many thoughts on this book because it could happen to any book blogger.  Part of me would be mortified if something like this happened to me, but part of me wishes that something like this would happen to me because who doesn’t want a book boyfriend to come to life.  The only thing that kind of bugged me about the book was I wasn’t the biggest fan of the female narrator voices, but that is the only thing “bad” thing I can say about this book.  I loved everything about this book and the plot.  I felt like I could relate to the plot because I also blog about books.  These types of books are always my guilty pleasure when it comes to reading.  When I need a break this is the type of book that I always pick up and read.  If you love reading romance novels, I would pick this one up because I know you will love it as much as I did.

Crazy Love by Callie Bardot

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Crazy Love by Callie Bardot was a good book.  This book is the first book in the series, and I can’t wait to listen to the other books.  I enjoyed the narrator of this book, and I was able to keep track of who was talking throughout the entire book.  I think this book was predictable, but this is how I feel about most of the books in the romance genre. Even with that being said, I still really enjoyed this book.  I was sad when the book came to an end because I had fallen in love with the characters.  I am hoping that we will get a glimpse of these characters in the books that come next.  This book has adult situations in it that I wouldn’t let teenagers read this book.  I wasn’t offended at all, but some people may get triggered by the talk of using drugs.  I did feel bad for Dante because of everything he had gone through as he was growing up.  I also enjoyed that this book has a small mystery thrown in, which is part of the reason I didn’t want to put this one down until I finished listening.  If you are looking for a romance novel with a mystery aspect to it, I would pick up a copy of this audiobook and listen.

Is she about to lose her life? And, could this very courageous woman be the same girl he crushed on hard at his exclusive private Manhattan high school before she vanished?

About The Narrator

Making funny voices has always been something I have done, to an almost compulsive level. I would emulate cartoon characters, parents, teachers, politicians, ect. Then focus shifted to martial arts, rock climbing, just other passions and whatnot. In all honesty I feel as though I was lost for a few years. No direction. I then got into the modeling and acting industry. Almost three years as a model/actor, of middling success, before I decided to have a go at being an agent. This move went very very well. Two years later, unfulfilled, I quit my job, bought a mic, and haven’t looked back since.

Mission: Accept by Stacy Eaton

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Mission: Accept by Stacy Eaton was an exciting book.  This is the second book in the series, and I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one.  If you want to check out my review of this book, you can click here and check it out.  Once again, I love this narrator, and I can’t wait to listen to more books he reads in the future.  I also am a big fan of the author and her books.  I loved that we got to check up on the characters that we met in the first book because they are like old friends.  I think these are my favorite characters yet.  I did find that this book was predictable because all books in this genre usually are.  Out of the two books in this series, this one is by far my favorite.  I fell in love with the characters right from the start of this book, and I was sad when the book came to an end because I didn’t want to say goodbye to them.  I felt more attached to these characters than I did in the other book, even though I liked those characters.  If you are looking for a different romance novel to listen to, I would recommend this book to you.

All that will change when she has to ask him for a job after her father cuts her off.

Derek Stall lives on the streets by choice – not circumstance. Memories of what he did under order sometimes haunt him, other times give him the strength to move through one more day until he can finish the mission he started.

A chance meeting between Dana and Derek will lead to an unlikely friendship that might just save his life, but the drastic differences between them could be the dividing wedge that keeps them apart.

When Derek feels he has to leave Rise Again Warrior to complete his mission, he begins to realize that he could be leaving behind more than just a few friends. Could he be leaving behind the possibility of a healthy future before he finally accepts his past?

Mission: Believe by Stacy Eaton

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Mission: Believe by Stacy Eaton was a great book.  This book gave me an escape and an exciting world to escape into.  I enjoyed the narrator of this book as well.  He did a great job of changing his voice for the different characters, making it easy to know who was talking.  I have read/listen to several books by this author, and as far as I can remember, I have enjoyed her books, and this book was no different.  I grew up in the military, so when I saw this book come up for review, I knew I had to check it out.  I found the subject of this book super interesting.  This book followed the same pattern that most romance books follow, but that didn’t bother me because of this book’s plot.  I fell in love with the characters right from the start, and I was glad that there is another book in this series because I hope that we will get an update on these two in the next book in the series.  If you love romance novels, I am sure you will love this book as much as I do.  I can’t say enough good things about this book.  I will be reviewing the next book next week, so come back and see how I felt about that one if this book interests you.

Wonder Tales by Elizabeth Klett

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Wonder Tales by Elizabeth Klett was a fun book to listen to.  I love that this included fairy tales that I hadn’t heard of before this book.  Even the stories that I had of before I hadn’t read the story, I learned more as I listened to this book.  I also love that each of the stories was a different chapter, so if I had heard that fairy tale before, I could just skip it and move on to the next story.  I also loved that the fairy tales were grouped by topic.  I enjoyed the narrator of these stories, and I will surely listen to other books that she had narrated in the future.  The narrator was able to change her voice enough that I never got confused about who was talking.  I also loved that these stories aren’t sugar-coated and that they are meant for adults.  I know that most fairy tales were written for adults.   It was nice to see the differences between the Disney movies and the original stories.  More than once, I was shocked to listen to the real story and compare it to what I learned when I was a child.  If you are looking for something different to listen to, I would pick up a copy of this audiobook because I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Top Ten Reasons to Listen to Wonder Tales

  1. To hear some of your favorite fairy tales. I’ve chosen stories that many listeners will recognize, particularly in the opening section, which is called “Princesses in Peril,” and includes classic favorites like “Snow White,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and “Cinderella.”
  2. To hear different versions of your favorite fairy tales. Although I think listeners will be familiar with some of the tales, the versions included here might actually be new to them. For instance, did you know that in Charles Perrault’s 17th century version of “Sleeping Beauty,” the story doesn’t end after the prince and princess get married? It actually gets much stranger from there!
  3. To hear fairy tales you’ve never heard before. Along with familiar stories, I’ve chosen some that are probably unfamiliar to many listeners, such as “Chonguita, the Monkey Bride” from the Philippines, “Catskin” from England,” and “Lu San, Daughter of Heaven,” from China.
  4. To travel (virtually) around the world. These stories come from all over the globe! Although many of them are from Europe, they also come from countries like Japan, Canada, India, Russia, and the Middle East.
  5. To make connections between stories. You’ll find as you listen that there are surprising connections between some of the tales, even though they come from very different places. See how many of these you can find!
  6. To celebrate strong and resilient heroines. One of my goals in putting together this collection, particularly the stories in part 4, was to show that fairy tales are not just about pretty princesses, but also about brave and adventurous girls.
  7. To explore the dark side. Many of these stories are darker and more disturbing than the fairy tales you may remember from your childhood. See, for example, the Brothers Grimm tale “The Juniper Tree,” which features a song about cannibalism!
  8. To take delight in tricksters. The stories in Part 5 are focused on clever and devious tricksters, who are ubiquitous figures in fairy tales and world mythologies.
  9. To enjoy being read to. Listening to fairy tales is an experience that many of us can remember from our childhoods, and can still enjoy as adults.

To find the happily ever after. Although not all these stories conclude with an HEA, many of them do, even if the characters sometimes take surprising or unexpected roads to get there!

Six Days of Memories by Stacy Eaton

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from Audiobookworm in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Six Days of Memories by Stacy Eaton was a good book, but I found it predictable.  Even though I found the book predictable, I enjoyed the story.  I wasn’t the biggest fan of the narrator at first, but she grew on me, and by the end of the book, I enjoyed her voice.  I enjoyed this author’s writing, and I will read/listen to more books by her in the future.  She did a great job helping me understand why the characters did what they did.  I spent a lot of time thinking that Natasha was insane because of the things that she did throughout the book.  I did hope that she and Jay would end up together in the end because I thought they seemed perfect for each other.  I wish that there would have been more of a mystery aspect to this book, but I understand that this was mostly just a romance novel and not a mystery book.  I was left feeling sad when I was finished listening to this book because I was sad to say goodbye to these characters. If you are looking for a romance book that has a little bit of mystery included, I would for sure recommend this book/audiobook to you.
