Moms Night Out Tricia Goyer Kerri Pomarolli
Moms’ Night Out and other things i miss by Kerri Pomarolli was such a fun book to read. Like I said in the review of Moms’ Night Out since I am not a mom I can’t understand 100% what is talked about but it did make me smile. Thankful by Shelley Shepard Gray was an amazing book to read. I loved this book but that isn’t a huge surprise to me. I loved the first book and I wasn’t let down by this book. In this book you get to follow along with Christina & Aden as they figure out what is going with them. This is such a sweet book and it is one that I am going to keep and add to my collection. I also can’t wait for the next book to come out because I love the characters in these books!

Thankful

About The Book

Thankful, Book Two in the Return to Sugarcreek series

New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray captures the beauty, devotion, and warmth of Amish life in this engaging tale of family, commitment, trust, and love set in the beloved community of Sugarcreek.

Christina Kempf has always known that God chose Aden Reese to be her husband. As children, he was there to save her when she fell through the ice, and he’s been by her side ever since. After his parents died in a car accident ten years ago, the Kempfs raised Aden as one of their own, and everyone sees Aden and Christina as brother and sister. But Christina has never given up hope that Aden will one day ask her to be his wife.

Aden always planned to court Christina. But losing his mother and father changed everything—except his love for her. Her parents generously welcomed him into their home and treated him like a son. He can’t betray their kindness by admitting his feelings for the girl who is like a sister . . . yet so much more.
Pressured by her parents to court, Christina begins to accept the attentions of Sugarcreek’s young men, and now, Aden must make a choice. Will he stand by and watch the love of his life slip away? Or will he risk losing the love and trust of the family he holds dear to tell Christina how he truly feels?

Thankful includes a P.S. section with additional insights from the author, background material, suggestions for further reading, and more.

10% Happier by Dan Harris

Dan Harris 10% Happier Nightline
10% Happier by Dan Harris was an amazing book to read. There are parts of this book that I did find myself getting bogged down because some of the words that are used I had to look up and it frustrated me. I recently got this book on Audible so I can listen to it because I know there is alot that I can learn from this book and it is things that I can do in my life.

unnamed (1)

About The Book

10% Happier takes readers on a ride from the outer reaches of neuroscience to the inner sanctum of network news to the bizarre fringes of America’s spiritual scene, and leaves them with a takeaway that could actually change their lives.

After having a nationally televised panic attack on Good Morning America, Dan Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure, involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists. Eventually, Harris realized that the source of his problems was the very thing he always thought was his greatest asset: the incessant, insatiable voice in his head, which had both propelled him through the ranks of a hyper-competitive business and also led him to make the profoundly stupid decisions that provoked his on-air freak-out.

We all have a voice in our head. It’s what has us losing our temper unnecessarily, checking our email compulsively, eating when we’re not hungry, and fixating on the past and the future at the expense of the present. Most of us would assume we’re stuck with this voice — that there’s nothing we can do to rein it in — but Harris stumbled upon an effective way to do just that. It’s a far cry from the miracle cures peddled by the self-help swamis he met; instead, it’s something he always assumed to be either impossible or useless: meditation. After learning about research that suggests meditation can do everything from lower your blood pressure to essentially rewire your brain, Harris took a deep dive into the underreported world of CEOs, scientists, and even marines who are now using it for increased calm, focus, and happiness.

A Promise in Pieces by Emily Wierenga

Quilts of Love Emily Wierenga A Promise in Pieces
A Promise in Pieces by Emily Wierenga was an amazing book. I loved this book because it has to do with WWII and everyone knows that I loved that time period. I don’t know that I have ever read a book that has to do with WWII that I haven’t liked. Anyway lets get to this review. I loved the authors writing but I have to say I didn’t like the ending. I feel like parts of the book were never wrapped up and I was left wondering about how things worked out and what characters thought about things. I feel like the ending was rushed and that kind of made me sad because I am still wondering what happened with some of the loose ends. All in all it was a great book and I am still glad that I read it.

A Promise in Pieces

About The Book

A baby quilt touches many hearts as it travels from family-to-family and through generations.

After the end of World War II, Clara Kirkpatrick returns from the Women’s Army Corp to deliver a dying soldier’s last wishes: convey his love to his young widow, Mattie, with apologies for the missed life they had planned to share.
Struggling with her own post-war trauma, Clara thinks she’s not prepared to handle the grief of this broken family. Yet upon meeting Mattie, and receiving a baby quilt that will never cuddle the soldier’s baby, Clara vows to honor the sacrifices that family made.
Now a labor and delivery nurse in her rural hometown, Clara wraps each new babe in the gifted quilt and later stitches the child’s name into the cloth. As each new child is welcomed by the quilt, Clara begins to wonder whatever happened to Mattie—and if her own life would ever experience the love of a newborn. Little does she know that she will have the opportunity to re-gift the special quilt—years later and carrying even greater significance than when it was first bestowed.

Critical Condition by Richard L. Mabry, M.D.

Richard Mabry Critical Condition
Critical Condition by Richard L. Mabry, M.D. was a great book to read. Once again I was not let down by Richard Mabry’s medical suspense book. I have loved both of the other books I have read by him. I love his books and I can’t wait for the next one to come out. In this book you get to follow along with Shannon as she tries to find out why a man was killed on her front lawn along with her trying to figure out if she wants to marry her longtime boyfriend. I love how up until the end you still aren’t sure what is going on.

Critical Condition

About The Book

Dr. Frasier couldn’t save the gunshot victim on her front lawn. Now she’s fighting for her own life.
It began as a quiet dinner party honoring Dr. Shannon Frasier’s colleague, but became a nightmare when a man was shot on her lawn, reviving emotions from a similar episode a decade ago. Then a midnight call from her sister, Megan, causes Shannon to fear that her sister is on drugs again.
Her “almost-fiancé” Dr. Mark Gilbert’s support only adds to Shannon’s feelings of guilt, since she can’t bring herself to fully commit to him. She turns for help to her pastor-father, only to learn that he’s just been diagnosed with leukemia. Shannon thought it couldn’t get any worse. Then the late-night, threatening phone calls begin, the rough voice asking, “What did he say before he died?”
With everything around her in a critical state, simply staying alive will require all the resources and focus Shannon has.

A Sensible Arrangement by Tracie Peterson

Tracie Peterson A Sensible Arrangement
A Sensible Arrangement by Tracie Peterson was a fun book. I started this book and didn’t want to put it down until I got about halfway through the book. I am not sure why but I struggled to finish this book and I think it was because the middle of the book got kind of slow and I always felt like I was waiting for something to happen and nothing really did happen. I did like this book though and I love Tracie Peterson’s books so I can’t wait to read more of her books.

A Sensible Arrangement

About The Book

A Lone Star Brides book.
Marty Dandridge Olson is ready to leave behind the pain of the past.
Answering an advertisement for a “Lone Star bride,” she leaves her Texas ranch and heads to Denver to marry a man she doesn’t know.
Jake Wythe is the man waiting for her.
Burned by love, he marries now simply to satisfy the board of Morgan Bank, which believes a man of his standing in society should be wed. Together Jake and Marty agree they are done with romance and love and will make this nothing more than a marriage of convenience.
When missing money and a collapsing economy threaten his job, Jake’s yearning to return to ranching grows ever stronger, much to Marty’s dismay. But a fondness has grown between them, as well, further complicating matters.
What will happen when their relationship shifts in unexpected ways . . . and dreams and secrets collide?

The Queen’s Handmaid by Tracy L. Higley

The Queen's Handmaid

The Queen’s Handmaid by Tracy L. Higley was a great read. This type of book usually isn’t my type of book and from the moment I started this book I didn’t want to put it down. I loved everything about this book and I couldn’t wait to finish the book because I had to know what happened but when I was done with the book I was heart broken because I want to know what happens with the characters next.

The Queen's Handmaid

About The Book

From the servant halls of Cleopatra’s Egyptian palace to the courts of Herod the Great, Lydia will serve two queens to see prophecy fulfilled.

Alexandria, Egypt 39 BC

Orphaned at birth, Lydia was raised as a servant in Cleopatra’s palace, working hard to please while keeping everyone at arm’s length. She’s been rejected and left with a broken heart too many times in her short life.

But then her dying mentor entrusts her with secret writings of the prophet Daniel and charges her to deliver this vital information to those watching for the promised King of Israel. Lydia must leave the nearest thing she’s had to a family and flee to Jerusalem. Once in the Holy City, she attaches herself to the newly appointed king, Herod the Great, as handmaid to Queen Mariamme.

Trapped among the scheming women of Herod’s political family—his sister, his wife, and their mothers—and forced to serve in the palace to protect her treasure, Lydia must deliver the scrolls before dark forces warring against the truth destroy all hope of the coming Messiah.

Dancing With Fireflies by Denise Hunter

Dancing with Fireflies denise hunter

Dancing With Fireflies by Denise Hunter was an amazing book. This book was hard for me to get into but I am glad that I stuck it out because after few chapters I didn’t want to put it down. Through the whole book I felt bad for Jade but I did figure out early on what was going to happen and for the first time in a long time I was okay with that. I am glad that book ended how it did and that things work out just how I thought they should.

Dancing with Fireflies

About The Book

A Chapel Springs Romance

Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again.
Creative and complicated, Jade McKinley felt like a weed in a rose garden growing up in Chapel Springs. When she left, she thought she’d never look back. But now, pregnant, alone, and broke, she has no other choice but to return.

The mayor of Chapel Springs, Daniel Dawson, has been an honorary member of the McKinley family for years. While his own home life was almost non-existent, Daniel fit right into the boisterous McKinley family. He’s loved Jade for years, but she always saw him as a big brother. Now that she’s back, his feelings are stronger than ever.

As Jade attempts to settle in, nothing feels right. God seems far away, she’s hiding secrets from her family, and she’s strangely attracted to the man who’s always called her “squirt.” Finding her way home may prove more difficult than she imagined.
