The Long Lost by Tom Nixon was a book I struggled staying interested in while I was reading it. I am not sure why this book was so hard for me to read because I did enjoy the plot and the characters in this book. I think because the book was slow moving I just got bored and I found that I kept just wanting to just skim the pages and only really stop and read parts that caught my attention. I also don’t like when books bounce back in forth between current time and the past. I have a hard time keeping straight what is going on when authors writing like that. This book wasn’t sure suspenseful for me because like I have said it just wasn’t the right fit for me, but I know that other people will probably enjoy it more than I did.

About The Author

Tom Nixon is an author and entrepreneur with writing credits to his name that span artistic genres. He has written multiple novels, two screenplays, several short stories, a children’s story, and has five music albums in his catalogue, for which he wrote both music and lyrics. He discovered his passion for writing and reading at an early age, going on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Michigan. He resides in Michigan with his wife and children, along with a couple of the canine variety.

His latest book is the suspense novel, The Long Lost.

The Shepherd’s Calculus by C.S. Farrelly was a book that I am sure I would have loved if I was sick of politics right now. I am going read this book in a couple of years to see if my views change because I had a tough time staying interested in this book because of the politics that happen in the book. I would always end up bored during those parts of the book and it made me not want to finish this book. It did have pieces that kept me interested but then they would talk about politics and would lose all interested again. I wasn’t able to figure out what was going to happen while I was reading the book, so that was a great thing. All in all I enjoyed the authors writing and I did like most of the characters so if you love thriller type books than you should give this one a shot because I know there are people who would love this book. Like I said before I think it is one that I would love if things in the world were different.

About The Author

C.S. Farrelly was raised in Wyoming and Pennsylvania. A graduate of Fordham University (BA, English), her eclectic career has spanned a Manhattan investment bank, the NYC Department of Education and, most recently, the British Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She was a 2015 Presidential Leadership Scholar and obtained a master’s degree from Trinity College Dublin, where she was a George J. Mitchell scholar.

She has lived in New York City, Washington, D.C., Ireland, and England. An avid hiker, she camped her way through East Africa, from Victoria Falls to Nairobi. She currently lives in Pennsylvania with her family.

The Nephilim Virus by John T. Prather

The Nephilim Virus by John T. Prather was a book that I didn’t think I would enjoy reading but in the end, I loved the book. I requested a copy of this book because I knew it would either be really good or terrible and I knew I wanted to find out which way it was going to go. I had no idea who the author was when I saw this book and to be honest I still haven’t really looked him up because I couldn’t be careless that he is an actor. I know I judge the book from the start because I was skeptical when it came to him being a writer and I loved that I was proved wrong because he is a fantastic author and I can’t wait to read more books by him in the future.

Anyway, let’s get on to talk about this book and my thoughts and feelings about it. Like I said before I loved this book and I think I may like just as much like the book “1984”. I can’t pinpoint what I want about this book, but I really did enjoy just about everything. I really liked Nick right from the start but it did take some time for me to want Faith but by the end of the book I had fallen in love with her. I didn’t like when they quoted big chunks of the bible because it just bored me. Once I was in the middle of the book I just skipped those parts because I didn’t want to waste my time on those parts. Other than that I loved this book. If you like dystopian novels, then I would for sure check out this book.

Nisei by J.J. White was a fantastic book. I read this book in a few hours because once I started reading the book, I didn’t want to put it down until it was done. I loved this book because it gave me another look into some of the things that happened during WWII. I did know that we put Japanese people into internment camps during WWII because as I have said before I love WWII so I know so much about it, and this is the first book I have read that talks about something that not many people know happened.

Anyway, let’s get back to my thoughts and feelings about this book. Like I said once I started reading this book I didn’t want to put it down because I was so interested in what was going to happen and how things were going to end up. I can’t say enough good things about this book because it is one that I will be keeping in my personal collection of books because I am sure I will want to reread it in the future. I also loved this book because it gave me insight into something that I didn’t know much about before I read this book. If you are looking for a new book to read I would for sure recommend this one to you especially if you love books that take place during WWII.

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp was a different book compared to books that I have been reading lately. I did read another book by this author last year you can click here to check out that review and book if you missed it. This book was different from the other one, and I think I liked this book even more than the first one I read by her. This book kept me on the edge of my seat throughout most of it because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen or where this book was going to end up. I spent most of the book wanting to know that why everyone in the town of “Lost” was acting so strange. There were quite a few spots in this book that made me take a step back and wonder what was really going on. Like when Corey was looking at a painting that Kyra had done before she died and in the painting, she (Kyra) was under the ice and come to find out that is how she actually died, so it took me by surprise. If you like YA fiction than I would for sure read this book because I am sure you will enjoy it.

The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel

The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel was a good book. I really enjoyed the authors writing and the characters in this book, but there was one thing that really bugged me about this book. Throughout the book, it went back and forth between now and the past. So one chapter would be talking about the history, and the next chapter would be taking place at the present time. This bugged me because I wished that the book would have gone in order, so it wasn’t jumping back and forth between current time and the past. I wished that I would know everything in order so that I wasn’t left wondering what the entire backstory was. I understand why the author wrote it like she did but it wasn’t something that I enjoyed reading. Like I said before I really enjoyed the authors writing and the characters in this book. I do think I will check out other books by this author in the future as well. I really enjoyed this book other than that one issue I told you about earlier. This book didn’t keep me on my end of my seat, but I wasn’t bored while reading it so if you enjoy thriller books than I would give this one a shot. If you do pick it up, let me know what you think about it.
