Collateral Damage by Frederick Lee Brooke

Collateral Damage Tour Badge

Collateral Damage by Frederick Lee Brooke was a fun book to read.  My favorite genre of book to read is mystery/suspense books and this one is one of those.  I was worried when I started the book that I might not know what is going on because it is the 3rd book in the “Annie Ogden Mystery” series but I was glad once I started reading that I really didn’t need to have read the other books in order to understand what is going on in this book.  There were some parts where it might have been nice to know who the characters were and some of the history with them but all in all it is easy enough to follow along if you haven’t read the first 2 books.  I loved the characters in this book and I can’t wait to read the first 2 books and than read any of the books that come out after this one.

On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin

On-Distant-Shores-e1369253563736

On Distant Shores by Sarah Sundin was a wonderful book.  I read the first book in the series and reviewed it here.  I would recommend checking out the first book and then reading this one second.  There are some books that you don’t have to read it order even though I tend to like to read them in order but I feel this series should be read in order because the first book does lay the foundation for things that happen in this book.  Anyway lets get on to the review for this book.  In this book you are following along with Georgie as she learns to overcome her fears along with learning to make decisions for herself and not letting her family and friends run her life for her.  I really loved this book and I can’t wait to read what happens next.  I loved watching both Georgie and Hutch grow.  There were also parts that broke my heart for both of them but in the end it ended just how I thought I should end.  If you love romance books and also books where the main characters grow then this is the book for you!

About On Distant Shores

Caught between the war raging around them and the battles within, two souls long for peace—and a love that remains true.

Lt. Georgiana Taylor has everything she could want. A boyfriend back home, a loving family, and a challenging job as a flight nurse. But in July 1943, Georgie’s cozy life gets more complicated when she meets pharmacist Sgt. John Hutchinson.

Hutch resents the lack of respect he gets as a noncommissioned serviceman and hates how the war keeps him from his fiancée. While Georgie and Hutch share a love of the starry night skies over Sicily, their lives back home are falling apart. Can they weather the hurt and betrayal? Or will the pressures of war destroy the fragile connection they’ve made?

With her signature attention to detail and her talent for bringing characters together, Sarah Sundin weaves an exciting tale of emotion, action, and romance that will leave you wanting more.

Whispers On The Dock by Evangeline Kelley

Whispers-on-the-Dock

Whispers On The Dock by Evangeline Kelley was a great book.  This is the 3rd book in the series and I have to say that I loved it just as much as I loved the other 2.  This book wraps things up nicely and you finally get answers to questions that you may have had from the start.  There are also a few times in this book I was totally shocked at some the turns this book take but it kept me interested to say the least.  I was sad when the book ended because I love the characters and I love this author’s writing.  If you missed my review on the first 2 books you can click here and check it out.  I would recommend reading them in order though because they build on each other.

Call Me Crazy by Quinn Loftis

Call Me Crazy by Quinn Loftis was an interesting book to read.  I loved the authors writing but I had time getting into the story for some reason.  I am a huge fan of this type of book and this genre.  I guess I found it hard to believe but I am hoping that I can read it again and get into the book the next time.  In this book you follow along with Tally as she learns to love herself.  You also get to know Candy and all the crazy things she does.  I have to say that Candy was my favorite character in the book and always could make me smile.

About The Book

YA Contemporary Romance Date Published: 5/31/2013

“I’m looking out from inside the chaos. It must be a one-way mirror because no one seems to be able to see back inside to where I am. The looks on their faces, the judgment in their eyes, tells me everything I need to know. The most frustrating part about the whole messed up situation is that even though I’m the one that they stare at in shock, I am just as shocked as they are. I know no more than they do of why I lose control. What they don’t know is that I am more scared of myself than they could ever be.” ~ Tally Baker

After a devastating turn of events, seventeen year old Tally Baker is admitted to Mercy Psychiatric Facility where she is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. She has come to a place where she honestly believes that her life is over. Her mind tells her that she will never smile or laugh again, that she will never be normal again. It is in this unlikely place that she meets two people, different in every way, yet both critical to helping her realize that she has so much more living to do.

Candy, a cantankerous sixty year old Mercy Psychiatric patient, is hell bent on driving everyone as crazy as she is. Candy shows Tally that, regardless of her diagnosis, the ability to push on and live her life to the fullest is her choice and hers alone. In the midst of Tally’s oftentimes humorous, sometimes heart-wrenching, escapades with Candy, a new patient is admitted to Mercy—a native American woman named Lolotea. Along with this new patient comes a daily visitor, her son, Trey Swift. At first glance, it is obvious to Tally that he is incredibly handsome and unbelievably caring. But what she learns through her second glance, and many thereafter, is that there is much more to Trey than he ever lets on. It is during these daily visits that Trey and Tally build a friendship far deeper than either of them truly realize. With Trey, Tally feels for the first time since being admitted that someone is looking at her as a person and not as a disease. Trey begins to make it clear that he wants more than friendship, but she knows that she can never give him more. How can she, when she won’t even give him the truth?  Tally doesn’t tell Trey that she is a patient at Mercy, and she doesn’t ever plan to. Her plans go up in flames when she finds out that Trey is a new student at her school, the school where her brokenness was found out in the floor of the girl’s bathroom in a pool of her own blood.

Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr

Blogger Girl

Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr was a super interesting read.  This is the first book I have read about a blogger and about a blogger who reviews books.  I have to say I wish I was Kim.  I loved the authors writing and overall I loved the book.  There were parts that were super slow but I am glad I kept reading because I really enjoyed reading the book and I loved how the book ended.  I can’t wait to check out other  books by Meredith because I love her writing style.  If you are a blogger I am sure you will get a kick out of this book.

About Blogger Girl

What happens when your high school nemesis becomes the shining star in a universe you pretty much saved? Book blogger Kimberly Long is about to find out.

A chick lit enthusiast since the first time she read Bridget Jones’s Diary, Kim, with her blog, “Pastel is the New Black,” has worked tirelessly by night to keep the genre alive, and help squash the claim that “chick lit is dead” once and for all. Not bad for a woman who by day ekes out a meager living as a pretty, and pretty-much-nameless, legal secretary in a Manhattan law firm.

While Kim’s day job holds no passion for her, the handsome (and shaving challenged) associate down the hall is another story. Yet another story is that Hannah Marshak, one of her most hated high school classmates, has now popped onto the chick lit scene with a hot new book that’s turning heads–and pages–across the land. It’s also popped into Kim’s inbox–for review. With their ten-year high school reunion drawing near, Kim’s coming close to combustion over the hype about Hannah’s book. And as everyone around her seems to be moving on and up, she begins to question whether being a “blogger girl” makes the grade in her off-line life.

“Winter in Full Bloom” by Anita Higman

Winter-in-Full-Bloom

“Winter in Full Bloom” by Anita Higman was an amazing book.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book but once I started reading it I didn’t want to put it down.  I read a lot of books that I like but very few make into the pile of books that I would read over and over again.  This book is one of those books for me.  You follow along with Lily as she travels around the world to find out answers to her past.  I also loved watching Lily and Marcus’s relationship bloom and I couldn’t wait to see what happened with them throughout the book.  I can’t really say more than that or it will give it away but if you are looking for a great book than make sure you check this out.

About The Book

Lily Winter’s wings are folded so tightly around her daughter that when empty nest arrives, she feels she can no longer fly. But Lily’s lonely, widowed life changes ina heartbeat when she goes to visit a woman who is almost a stranger to her—a woman who also happens to be her mother. During their fiery reunion, her mother reveals a dark family secret that she’d been hiding for decades—Lily has an identical twin sister who was put up for adoption when they were just babies.

Without looking back, Lily—with her fear of flying—boards a jumbo jet and embarks on a quest to find her sister which leads half way around the world to Melbourne, Australia. Befriended by imprudent Ausie, he might prove to be the key to finding her sister. But her journey becomes a circle that leads her back home to attempt a family reunion and to find the one dream she no longer imagined possible-the chance to fall in love again.
