Dancing With Fireflies by Denise Hunter

Dancing with Fireflies denise hunter

Dancing With Fireflies by Denise Hunter was an amazing book. This book was hard for me to get into but I am glad that I stuck it out because after few chapters I didn’t want to put it down. Through the whole book I felt bad for Jade but I did figure out early on what was going to happen and for the first time in a long time I was okay with that. I am glad that book ended how it did and that things work out just how I thought they should.

Dancing with Fireflies

About The Book

A Chapel Springs Romance

Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again.
Creative and complicated, Jade McKinley felt like a weed in a rose garden growing up in Chapel Springs. When she left, she thought she’d never look back. But now, pregnant, alone, and broke, she has no other choice but to return.

The mayor of Chapel Springs, Daniel Dawson, has been an honorary member of the McKinley family for years. While his own home life was almost non-existent, Daniel fit right into the boisterous McKinley family. He’s loved Jade for years, but she always saw him as a big brother. Now that she’s back, his feelings are stronger than ever.

As Jade attempts to settle in, nothing feels right. God seems far away, she’s hiding secrets from her family, and she’s strangely attracted to the man who’s always called her “squirt.” Finding her way home may prove more difficult than she imagined.

The Best Part

The Best Part

This is an old prompt from the writers workshop a few weeks ago. I found the post in my drafts and decided that I wanted to finish it and get it posted. The prompt is: The best part of my day is… I chose this one because it is something that would change for each person and I would love to read what others find the best part of their day.

The best part of my day depends on what day of the week it is for me. During the week I would have to say that when I get off work is the best time of day for me. I hate driving home with all the traffic but being off means that I don’t have to answer the phone anymore and I don’t have to be bitched at customers anymore.

On the Saturday’s I love when I get to shut my door and watch my TV shows. I am addicted to Lockup on MSNBC & Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel. I get lucky that Ghost Adventures is on right before the new episode of Lockup and I don’t have to miss either of them most weekends.

On Sunday’s I love when I can read the whole day away and not have to worry about anything other than doing my laundry. I think I love getting lost in books more than I love watching TV shows. I think this is because when I am reading I can decided for the most part what people look like and it makes you think more than when you are watching TV.

Anyway those are the best parts of the end of the day for me. What are the best part of your days?

The Devil Walks In Mattingly by Billy Coffey

The Devil Walks in Mattingly Billy Coffey
The Devil Walks In Mattingly by Billy Coffey was different from anything I have read before. I have to be honest with everyone this was one of the hardest books for me to get through. I found at times I got confused about who was talking and I would also get bogged down in all the details that the author used. I wanted to like this book because the premise of the story was something that I know I would like but it just wasn’t a book for me.

The Devil Walks In Mattingly

About The Book

For the three people tortured by their secret complicity in a young man’s untimely death, redemption is what they most long for . . . and the last thing they expect to receive.
It has been twenty years since Philip McBride’s body was found along the riverbank in the dark woods known as Happy Hollow. His death was ruled a suicide. But three people have carried the truth ever since—Philip didn’t kill himself that day. He was murdered.
Each of the three have wilted in the shadow of their sins. Jake Barnett is Mattingly’s sheriff, where he spends his days polishing the fragile shell of the man he pretends to be. His wife, Kate, has convinced herself the good she does for the poor will someday wash the blood from her hands. And high in the mountains, Taylor Hathcock lives in seclusion and fear, fueled by madness and hatred.
Yet what cannot be laid to rest is bound to rise again. Philip McBride has haunted Jake’s dreams for weeks, warning that he is coming back for them all. When Taylor finds mysterious footprints leading from the Hollow, he believes his redemption has come. His actions will plunge the quiet town of Mattingly into darkness. These three will be drawn together for a final confrontation between life and death . . . Between truth and lies.

Scraps of Evidence by Barbara Cameron was a fun book to read. I loved this book but I did figure out who the killer was during the first chapter. That being said I still didn’t want to put the book down because I loved the authors writing and I loved the characters. I loved this book and I can’t wait to read other books by her.

the thief stephanie landsem
The Thief by Stephanie Landsem was an interesting book but hard for me to read. I loved the authors writing but I couldn’t get into this book. I think because it takes place during biblical times it is hard for me relate to and get into. I grew up hearing the bible stories so I thought I would be able to get into but I just wasn’t able to get into it. I did like the characters and it was a good book to read it just wasn’t the book for me.

The author does a great job of making you feel as if you are there with them. I read the first book in the series and I was so glad to get to check in with all the characters again. In this book you follow along with Juliet and her sisters as they investigate Juliet’s husband murder. From the start of the book I had an idea of who the bad guy was but I didn’t expect it to take some of the turns it took. And it was talking turns right up until the last few chapters.

A Road Unknown by Barbara Cameron ***Contains Spoilers***

Barbara Cameron A Road Unknown
A Road Unknown by Barbara Cameron was a great book. I read this book in a few days because I had to know what happened and how things turned out for Elizabeth. This is the first book I have read by this author and I can’t wait to read more and to also read the next book in this series. I have to say that I was so glad that she didn’t end up with Bruce because from the moment the introduced him I really couldn’t stand him. I love how this book turned out and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Hopeful by Shelley Shepard Gray

Shelley Shepard Gray Hopeful
Hopeful by Shelley Shepard Gray was a great book to read. I loved this book but I figured I would because I have loved the other books I have read by this author. In this book you follow along with Miriam as she tries to help the person that she has had a crush on her whole life win over one of her friends. I felt bad for her throughout the whole book but I also knew how she felt because I have felt like her. I didn’t really like Mary Kate in the beginning but by the end of the book I understood why she acted the way that she did. I have to say that I loved the ending of the book and I can’t wait to read more books with these characters. If you love books about the Amish than I know you will love this one as much as I did.

Hopeful

About The Book

Return to Sugarcreek, Book One

In the Amish town of Sugarcreek, love comes in many forms. But will it come at all for Miriam?

Miriam Zehr has worked at the Sugarcreek Inn longer than she cares to admit. The restaurant is a favorite of town residents as well as the many tourists who come to taste the famous Amish fare. A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher

A Promise Kept Robin Lee Hatcher
A Promise Kept by Robin Lee Hatcher was a good book to read. This book was so sweet and it was also a book I came to love. In this book you get to follow along with Allison as she is healing from her divorce and trying to figure out everything that comes along with getting a divorce. I loved how this book went between Allison talking and her great aunt Emma talking. I wish I could say more about this book but I don’t want to give anything away. This is such a sweet story and I was glad I read it.

A Promise Kept

About The Book

God was going to save her marriage, Allison was sure of it. But neither her husband nor her marriage had been saved.

What had become of His promise?

Tony Kavanagh had been Allison’s dream-come-true. They were in love within days, engaged within weeks, married and pregnant within a year. Her cup bubbled over with joy . . . but years later, that joy had been extinguished by unexpected trials.

The day Allison issued her husband an ultimatum, she thought it might save him. She never expected he would actually leave. She was certain God had promised to heal; it was clear that she’d misunderstood.

Now, living in the quiet mountain cabin she inherited from her single, self-reliant Great Aunt Emma, Allison must come to terms with her grief and figure out how to adapt to small town life. But when she finds a wedding dress and a collection of journals in Emma’s attic, a portrait of her aunt emerges that takes Allison completely by surprise: a portrait of a heartbroken woman surprisingly like herself.

As Allison reads the incredible story of Emma’s life in the 1920s and 1930s, she is forced to ask a difficult question: Does she really surrender every piece of her life to the Lord?

Drawing from her own heart-wrenching story of redemption,A Promise Kept is Robin Lee Hatcher’s emotionally charged thanksgiving to a God who answers prayers—in His own time and His own ways.

If The Shoe Fits by Sandra D. Bricker

9780802484031_p0_v1_s260x420

If The Shoe Fits by Sandra D. Bricker was a fun book to read. I loved parts of this book and other parts I didn’t like. The author did a great job of making me dislike certain characters while loving other characters. In this book you get to follow along with Julianne as she dates a man named Paul all while not wanting to admit that she is in love with Will her business partner and best friend. I have to say that I hated Paul and everytime he was in chapter or Julianne talked about him or to him I wanted to punch the man in the face. I loved the ending and I was glad that I read this book because I have found an author that can write in a way that makes you truly feel like you know the characters.

About The Book

Julianne used to believe in fairy tales; she’s been watching for Prince Charming to come charging in on his white steed ever since the day her mother read her Cinderella for the first time. But she’s never come close to finding the perfect man-instead she’s always tripping over her childhood best friend, Will. And who finds their Prince Charming on a 10-speed bicycle on the other side of the cul de sac? Well… Julianne does. Only she doesn’t have a clue.

She and Will are attorneys now, and they’ve joined up in private practice in a beautiful Cincinnati office building that overlooks the Ohio River. And then one day Julianne is on her way to court, and runs right smack dab into Prince Charming. But when she looks again, all she finds is a metaphoric sign she is certain came straight from Heaven: The Prince’s toolbox has fallen off the back of his truck, and a work boot along with it. What better way for God to grab the attention of a Cinderella-in-training than to show her a glass slipper…errrr, work boot?…waiting to be reunited with its owner?

So she sets out to track down the mysterious Prince Charming. He’s the most gorgeous guy she’s ever seen…and a caring animal rescuer, too. Surely he must be the soul mate God has prepared her for.

But, Julianne’s prince is starting to look less and less charming all the time. No matter how she tries to romanticize him, he just keeps tumbling down off that dumb pedestal. And with the Bar Association dinner coming up that will honor her for her outstanding charity work over the year, Julianne wants so much for her friends and colleagues to see her with someone besides her best friend Will. To make matters worse, Prince Charming has no designs on wearing a penguin suit and attending a stuffy old dinner. With her pride pressing in on her like sticks from a cactus, Julianne sinks to the bottom of the proverbial barrel and actually offers to pay Paul to be her date.

Julianne is on a collision course with God’s perfect plan for her life…if only she could open her eyes and see it before it’s too late
