6 Random Facts~Writers Workshop

Random Facts

One of the prompts from last weeks writers workshop was to list 6 random facts about me. Since I am not sure what I have shared and what I haven’t shared I decided I was going to ask my grandma to tell me six random things about me from when I was growing up and I would post what she said so here are her answers: (I was hoping to have pictures for most of these but I couldn’t get my scanner at home to work so there won’t be any pictures)

  1. I was probably 3 or so but she put me in a tree and took a picture of me and I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. I thought this was funny because I hate heights to this day so this is still so true!
  2. I loved to wash dishes when I was younger. When she told me this I looked at her and said to bad I am not like that anymore lol
  3. There was one time when my mom dropped me off at my grandparents house that my braids were so tight that they stuck out from the side of my head like Pippi Longstockings did and mine didn’t even need wire in them!
  4. I have loved cats since I was a baby. There are pictures of me looking at cat books and what not when I was a baby.
  5. I eat strange things such as Avocado’s, Kiwi’s, Pomegranates and things like that. Now this isn’t weird now but back when I was in elementary school it was super weird because people didn’t eat many things like that.
  6. When I was learning to ride a bike I guess I borrowed a bike of one of the kids that lived behind us at the time. Well his older sister came to get the bike and I was pissed off because he said I could borrow it. Well as she was leaving I yelled out this out the door at her “You’re a butt head and your whole family is a butt head!” I still laugh when she tells me about this because it just so me and who I am.

So those are the 6 random facts about me that my grandma told me!

March Favorites~ Writers Workshop

March Favorites

I am sure some of you know that I love to watch YouTube videos and every month most of them do videos listing their month favorites. This week for the writers workshop one of the prompts was to list my March favorites and I thought it would be fun to show everyone the products I loved and used a ton in March.

NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight_AngledFirst I have loved my Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight. I am sure most of you know that I love to read books and I review a ton of them here on my blog. I love to read actual books because I am one of the weird people who loves the smell of books but there are times where it is easier to just throw my nook in my purse and run out the door.

white_iphone_5The second thing I have been loving is my iPhone 5. I got this at the end of January I believe and I love it. For those who may not know I love all Apple products so it is surprising that this is the first time I have ever had an iPhone. I am happy with it but I still do miss my Blackberry but for now I will stick with the iPhone.

I also have been loving my iPod Touch. My laptop died in February so I lost all of my music but because I have the iPod I will have music until I can afford a new laptop.

Another favorite of mine for the past few months is a singing group from Ireland called Celtic Thunder. I own all of their CD’s and I also own most of their DVD’s. I first heard them a few years ago and just started really listening to them in the past 6 months or so.

Those are just a few of the things that I loved in the month of March. What did you love last month?

Writers Workshop- $ 500

Apple logo icon

I chose to write about number 3 this week for the writers workshop because I know exactly what I would do with $ 500. I am not sure if I have talked about this yet on my blog but my laptop died a couple of weeks ago and I don’t have the money to replace it at the moment so if I had $ 500 I would put it towards paying off my iPhone so that I would be that much closer to being able to buy a new Macbook.

I paid full price for my iPhone because I didn’t want to switch cell phone companies and T-Mobile doesn’t offer the iPhone but it does work on their network. So I got mine through Apple and just took it into T-Mobile to get a sim card that would fit it. So I have to pay it off and I also want to pay off my car and then I will save and pay cash for a brand new laptop for myself.

I really want to get rid of the the debt that I do have which isn’t much anymore. I still have the credit card with my husband that has a huge balance on it but refuse to pay for it so that will still be there but I don’t want any other debt. I am always scared that I will lose my job or something like that and I would hate to buy the laptop on a credit card and then not be able to pay for it.

Anyways this post has gotten away from me. So if I got $ 500 I would pay off my iPhone.

What would you do with $ 500?

Writers Workshop-10 Reasons. . .

Top 10 Reasons

For the writers workshop this week I am going to write about 10 reasons you should be glad I didn’t blog in my 20′s. I am going to change the prompt slightly though because I am still in my late 20′s. I am going to write 10 reasons why you should be glad I didn’t blog while I was in college and in my early 20′s.

  1. All I would have had to write about was what I was doing in class and lets just say that would have been super boring. I never partied in college so I wouldn’t have any good stories.
  2. I would have written about my crazy roommates and the one who ended up over dosing the day before Thanksgiving my last semester up at Weber State.
  3. You would have had to read all the posts from when I was pregnant and pissed off at my daughters father.
  4. You would have had to listen to me complain about all the young girls that were keeping their children when I was 20 and placing mine for adoption. It really bugged me at the time and I have since got to the point where I just don’t care anymore. Everyone decides what is best for them and I don’t have the time to worry about it.
  5. Of course you would have had to read about all the high school drama that went out those years.
  6. I wouldn’t have wanted anyone to see pictures of me from that time because that would be super scary.
  7. God knows who I would have pissed off because I just learned how to control what I say or write. I didn’t have any filter back then.
  8. There would have been tons of god awful music and crazy music on here.
  9. I never would have gotten any school work done because I would have spent all the time blogging and reading blogs.
  10. This last one comes from my favorite roommate and she said she was glad I didn’t blog then because she didn’t want any incriminating information out there about her. I gotta love his roommate she is also the only person who ever gave me a nickname the stuck and she still calls it til this day.

So those are my ten things. What is one reason you are glad you didn’t blog then?

Writers Workshop-Pinterest

Mama’s Losin’ It

I haven’t done any thing for the writers workshop and since I haven’t had time to actually write in the past couple of weeks I figured that I would write about 2.) Are you on Pinterest? Share the last five items you pinned, choose one and let it inspire a blog post. I have been signed up for months for Pinterest but I never used it until the past 2 weeks or so and I am hooked! I am pinning all day long at work and when I am surfing the web. There are a lot of fun things I couldn’t just pick one so I am going to post some of my favorites here today instead of writing a post about just one.

Writers Workshop-My Passions

Mama’s Losin’ It

These are the prompts for this week:
1.) Six Word Memoir: Write about a significant time in your life in just six words.
2.) “One need not be a chamber to be haunted, One need not be a house. The brain has corridors surpassing material place”. -Emily Dickinson What haunts you?
3.) Describe a talent or flaw that seems to be in your genes.
4.) What are you passionate about?
5.) Comfort food at it’s finest. Share a family favorite recipe you loved as a child.

I am having a hard time picking one to write about.  I am going to write about #4-Something I am passionate about.  I am passionate about a few things but the main one is probably trying to teach others about MS.  I just want to bring awareness to the disease in hopes that people are getting diagnosed they aren’t alone.  I know when I was diagnosed I was scared to death and what made it worse was there was no one around my age that had the disease.  I am finally getting to the point where people my age are getting it. i just want people know be able to get the support that I found lacking when it come to MS and even other invisible illnesses.

I am also really passionate about raising awareness about adoption but more importantly I want to get help for the birth mothers that are left out in the cold.  I wish people could see the great things these women and be their for them but usually birth mom’s end up getting judged because of what we choice to do with our children.  For those that may not know I am a birth mom.  I placed my daughter for adoption almost 6 years ago now.  Since then I have found that there aren’t places for birth parents to go and get support when they are having hard days.  I have started a blog and Facebook page for birth moms.  I am also considering starting a support group in the Salt Lake City area for birth moms but I am not sure how to go about starting that.

Anyways those are 2 of the things that I am passionate about.  There a few more but those two are on very top of the list.

Writers Workshop

I haven’t participated in the writers workshop for a few weeks and I thought that I would participate this week.  I chose to write on  5.) “Keep your face to the sunshine and you can not see the shadow” - Helen Keller.  In what ways are you able to stay positive about something that sometimes brings you down?  I have a few things that bring me down.  The MS and thinking about my daughter that I placed for adoption.  I have several things that I do to stay positive about both of them.  When I sad about the adoption I think about how happy they are to have gotten her and how happy she is.  I also take time to look at the latest pictures of her and see how she is smiling and happy with her family.

Now the MS is a whole another issue. I try not to think about it a lot because it scares me and brings me down.  When I do happen to think about it I always remember that right now I am stable.  I also try and focus on the fact that no one knows the course the disease will take in me.  I could never get more disabled than I am right now.  For the most part I just try not to think about the problems in my life.  I try and focus on the good!!!!!!

Writers Workshop

These are the prompts for this weeks writers workshop:
1.) Describe a job you absolutely would never want to do.
2.) Show us where you live. Not on a map (security please), but take a picture of the view out your front door, back door, or neighborhood.
3.) What makes you mad, and what are you going to do about it?
4.) In an effort to spread awareness, share your (or someone you know/love) breast cancer story
5.) If you could stop time for 24 hours, what would you accomplish?

It was hard for me to decide which one I was going to do that is why this post is up later.  I finally decided that I am going to write about #3.  For everyone that truly knows me you know that even I don’t know what is going to set me off.  The problem I have is I have a really hard time telling people when they hurt me or make me mad and then it all builds and I erupt.  I am working on this but it is super hard because I have a super hard time letting people into my life because I always seem to get hurt so I guard myself to stop me from getting hurt.  There are a few people in my life like Misti that know this about me and deal with me.  I feel bad for people that don’t really know me and get the wrath of me when I have been pushed too far.  My husband was usually on the receiving end when I was with him.  He would also do things to piss me off so that I would leave him but that is a totally different post.

When I erupt I usually yell and scream and then end up crying alone in my room.  I am finding though that if when I reach that point and just walk away the anger will go away.  I also am starting to write blog posts to who ever I am mad at and that helps even though I hardly ever post them.
