This is the first time I have done this MeMe but I figure why not.  I have a lot of stories that I can write about so this should be too hard.  Today’s story took place when I was 15 and learning to drive.  Let me just tell you that I thought driving was dumb at the time and I didn’t want to learn because I didn’t want to drive.  I wasn’t the kind of kid that was super excited to learn to drive.  Anyway now on to the story.
My grandma took me out for the first time.  She took me to an elementary school because it was on the weekend and I could go slow and what not.  So we get to the school and we switch places and I start to drive.  Lets just say I was super nervous and it didn’t help that my little brother was in the backseat.  We were coming up to a curve and lets just say at that point I thought the car would turn itself I guess.  So I didn’t turn the wheel and I hit the curb but not only did I hit the curb I also took a chunk out of the tire and they had to buy a new tire because I ruined one.  This fateful day was the day I started having issues with curbs that I still have today.  The rims I have on my car now one of them is all beat up because of hitting a curb at work.  My other car I was always running into curbs.
There is my story!  I hope it gave you a good laugh.  Have a great Tuesday!

  1. lol to funny margaret! I didn't care to learn to drive either, other then it was a right of passage I wanted. I hate parking, especially my mini van.

  2. That's funny. When I used to have my truck, I would sometimes go over a curb in a parking lot just to get a squeel out of the kids! It was fun.

  3. Hehehehe! I took a chunk out of my hubby's brand new tire not too long ago. Thankfully we didn't have to replace it but considering we had just gotten them three weeks prior he was none to happy with me. 😉

  4. I had to buy a new rim once because I hit a curb so hard it bent the rim. The perfectly fine tire went flat. 🙂

  5. You're supposed to curb your dog, not your car.

I hit curbs head on or back in when I'm parking, but that's half planned. I'm not sure when to stop otherwise.

My wife has ruined some tires and rims cutting corners too sharply and bouncing on the curb.

  6. Oh my gosh, I wanted to learn to drive SO bad! I counted the days until I turned 16!

I've taken out a few curbs in my day ;o)

  7. I used to have curb issues too!!! You are so funny! I'm gonna miss ya while I'm gone, but I'll catch up with you next week for sure! Hugs!

  8. That is too funny!

Now it's all old hat right?

(My first accident happened 20 minutes after I got my license, when I ran my boss' car into my coworker's car, then jumped a curb. My boyfriend at the time was kind enough to explain, "the curb just jumped out at her!")

    Thanks for linking up!

  9. I was nervous about learning to drive too but knew it was something I needed to do. Good thing those curbs are there to slow you down or you would plow into things that could really do some damage.

    Congrats on your SITS day!

  10. LOL! Well, I still can't parallel park. I have to drive around until I find a spot I can pull in to.

  11. Happy day to you from SITS! I have the same thing with rotaries/roundabouts (depending on what part of the country one is from)- I will always, ALWAYS rear-end or be rear-ended in a rotary. Usually when both cars of chock full of people. Having be on a holiday weekend is an added bonus.

    😉

  12. Haha! I almost took out a telephone pole in a grocery parking lot when I was 18. I didn't actually hit it, but I very nearly did. I was backing up and misjudged the distance I had. I stopped less than an inch from that pole, too. I thought my dad was going to have a heart attack!
