Most Challenging This week I am going to write about 1.) The most challenging part about blogging for you is…  I chose this one because now I am really struggling with certain parts of blogging and I wanted to write about them because there are definitely challenges that go along with blogging.

The first thing I have struggled with when it comes to blogging is coming up topics to write about.  I do tons of reviews because I love to read and it was a great way to find new books to read.  It took me awhile to break into the review world but I am glad that I did.  Anyway let’s get back on topic.  Other than reviews I struggle with coming up with things to write about because I am scared to put certain things on my blog because I am worried about the reactions somethings could bring.  I have tried to get more personal when it comes to adoption and Multiple Sclerosis because I know I need to get my feeling out but it is hard to expose certain things about me and let other people in.

Another thing I am finding challenging is finding other blogs to read and comment on so that I can find more readers for my blog.  Since I don’t really have a blogging niche like some blogs do so I am struggling to find other blog’s that are like mine.  I know that people don’t read my blog a lot because of the book reviews but I love doing the reviews so I just need to find a better balance between reviews & personal post I guess.

Those are the things that I find most challenging about blogging now.  Things always change in my world but as for now those are the things that I find the most challenging.  If you have any advice please let me know!

  1. Well this was a great post! I used to have a hard time getting more personal, too. I used to keep personal and spiritual blogs before I knew anything about blogging, really, it was just nice to have a journal and to get feedback from others. I remember having the same struggles with opening up. I think it’s a process and it comes. I believe that through writing we can find self acceptance and healing and blogging is great because we also get that acceptance and validation from others which speeds the process along. When we get more comfy with ourselves we no longer worry about just letting it all hang out! I think your blog is great!

    • I am lucky that I can blog while I am at work because if I couldn’t I don’t know when I would find the time or energy to blog after work. The weekends are always out the window because I watch my brothers little boy who is almost 6 months so I understand how much work kids are.

  2. Ditto on finding other blogs. To get around the problem of “what to write” I set up a blogging calendar with certain topics for certain days. Monday is food, Wednesday is garden pics from my garden, etc. That way I only have to make small topic decisions, like “what recipe do I want to share today?” And they’re things I’m doing anyway. (Like you do reviews.)
I prefer limited personal revelation on a blog. Besides, my Mom reads it and what I think she’d enjoy reading is my guideline, which helps me a lot editorially.

    • Ya I understand that. I don’t really get much feed back from people I know so I try and inform people about things I know about and things I want to help teach others.

  3. I find those things difficult as well. I tend to visit a lot of link-ups and find posts that I am interested in, and then comment on those posts. I also find similar people through twitter and do the same…maybe do some hashtag searches on twitter and see what you can find??

Figuring out what to write is definitely always a challenge. I recently just started a weekly column on Fridays- (so, let’s say always a book review on Fridays…)..writing it down the the calendar, and then filling in the other dates ahead of time really helped me. Then if I came up with something else in between, I could move something to another time.

    • Ya I have tried to make a schedule and the only thing that really fits is the quotes I post once a week. Because I never know when some of my reviews need to be posted when I sign up for the books rest of the time I just trying to plug in more personal posts around the book reviews.

  4. I think we need to blog hang out. I didn’t pick the blogging prompt, because I was afraid I would go on too long. I didn’t realize how hard it is, but my biggest struggle is definitely finding “my tribe.” I also do book reviews – unfortunately, they’re my lowest preforming posts.

    • I know I love doing the reviews so I do them all the time because I love feeding my addiction to reading and finding new books & authors. I am trying to plug in more personal posts when I don’t have a review that day.

I am thinking of bringing back a blog hop I used to do and if you would be interested in co-hosting with me let me know. It would be on Fridays.

  5. I have been writing my blog since January 2013. I write everyday. There are definitely days I am at a loss as to what to write. Those days I just sit down and write. Sometimes there is no real train of thought and others, it really turns in to one of my best things. I am glad to hear I am not the only one who gets stumped!!

  6. I’m glad you just keep doing what you enjoy and don’t worry about what other people might thing. You will always end up attracting people you have things in common with if you stay true to content that interests you. It definitely is a tough space to be consistent with. Coming up with topics and maintaining a drive to want to find other blogs to read…I agree it can get tiring after awhile.

  7. Hey Margret,

Love how honest you are again with this post. I too struggle with what to post…. I have some amazing posts in mind and then I think about who may read them and the consequences of that, for myself or for my family!!! So I am with you on that one for sure. As for not having a niche, I love it, I don’t have one either, and that is what is great about it, I can write whatever my little heart desires, when I have the courage…..

Keep going, i am new to reading you, but I love it!!!!! You have me!!!! 🙂
